"...do you... really think so, Mister Alexei?"

Anandi bit the inside of her lip in embarrassment. It was a relief to know someone as influential and important as Judge Alexei seemed to sincerely think she was doing a good job, tutu be damned. "Yes, I... I think it's perhaps better that the information isn't out there, now that you mention it, Mister Alexei. I didn't think about the panic. I can't imagine how scared people would be if they knew how many monsters and bad people were running around... what those bad people do..."

If she wasn't in a public place, Anandi would openly shiver at the thought of the depths of depravity the Negaverse wallows in. It is frightening to think that murderers and thieves and terrible people walked among them with a glamour that hid their activities from police and peers alike.

"Mister Alexei, do you think we could... work together, maybe? Maybe you could find out some things... things that I could tell my friends, maybe we could all work together and help make the city just a little bit safer?"

Anandi's face lit up like a neon sign when Alexei withdrew and offered her his business card. A business card! From a judge! Sure, Anandi had her own business cards but it only contained her office number. For magical purposes, her office phone simply wouldn't do. Tearing off a page from her notepad, she scribbled her number and added a little snowflake for flair. Handing it to Alexei, she considered the deal sealed.

"I'll think about it, and talk to some friends of mine... I know some of them have some really good ideas, and I never really thought it would go anywhere... It's really comforting to know we have someone else who cares about this whole thing... besides us, I mean."

She clutched the business card like a precious gift, placing it in her small bag by the foot of her chair. "I should probably get back to the office... We have a huge server move, combined with this dusty old coding that somebody decided to code on top of for a quick fix... ugh." Anandi shook her head, exaggerating the roll of her eyes. "You'd think they'd want to do it right the first time, take a few extra hours and make sure these holes don't pop up when new features need to be integrated but... you know things are!"

Gathering her laptop and notes, she bowed to the judge who decided to spend a few minutes of his busy day with her. "Please don't work too hard, okay Mister Alexei?"

She left hastily but didn't wish to be rude. As much as she wanted to continue to talk to Alexei, she had coding deadlines to meet!
