 "Familiars are great! Maybe next time we paint, I'll paint one of them!" He blinked and looked at the teacher when they called for people to start cleaning up. He looked at his hands, still covered in paint. He grinned, glad that they had done painting today. "Would you take my brushes at least? I can get the pallet since it's already covered in paint like me." He laughed, waving his hand at Pepper that he had used to mix the paint for the flower on her cheek. "I can take yours too. It's like team work!" As they were walking up to the teacher with their supplies, Meadow asked "So do you name your familiars?"

 Oh, she hadn’t even thought about painting her familiars! She could totally get a couple of them to pose for her while she worked on the painting. “I can get it,” she said, gathering up all his brushes and handing over her palette. “Team work!” she was pleased with that. After all, the teachers were always saying teamwork was important.
“OF course I name my familiars! What else would I call them, fish one and fish two?” Pepper was incredulous. Wait, if he was asking maybe he didn’t? “Do you name yours? I have Raffe, Cary, Eduardo, and Blu for my skyfish, and then Sol and Lune are my spectrefoxes,” she ticked off each name as they handed over their supplies and then went to wash their hands. There was another caretaker there, making sure that everyone’s hands were clean before they left. “Sol and Lune like to sleep under my bed sometimes, but everybody has a home where they go when I’m not in the room.”

CRAP! She Totally called him out. "I... well, I try but... I have a lot, and I'm not really good at naming things, and..." He sort of trailed off, feeling bad. He really didn't mean to leave his familiars without names. He just... he'd talk to them and pet them and never referred to them as anything other then 'hey there' and 'my friend.' Oh man, Aurelia was going to laugh at him for that if she found out he hadn't named his familiars. "AH! You gotta help me! You gotta help me name my familiars!" He blurted out. "I... I mean if... you're available to... if you want to..." He looked away and quickly started to wash up the paint pallets since Pepper had the brushes.

 What?! She hadn't expected him to have actually not named his familiars! This was a tragedy! Especially if he had a lot. She stared at him for a moment, slack jawed and incredulous. Pepper was about ready to stage an intervention when Meadow thankfully asked for help. "Well of course I'll help you pick out some names for your poor pets!" she immediately replied. She focused on washing the brushes as quickly and thoroughly as possible before handing them to a teacher to put away. She was silent for a few moments while she washed and dried her hands just as effectively.
Meadow was almost done with his hands when she came back and she bounced impatiently in place as she waited for him to finish. "Let's do it now! Like, right now!" she insisted, and as soon as his hands were dry, she grabbed him by one and made him lead her to his room so she could help him pick out some names for his familiars. It was a good thing that it was free time, because it would have been hard for her to wait until class was over to fix this.
