"You aren't weak." Lawrence said. "Just tired. If bad things keep coming and coming without a break, without a chance to breathe or mend you get tired and worn out. You just need time to mend and be the person you are capable of being. I wanted to give you that shelter but I'm just..I'm a tiring person to be with."

He gave Melvin another fond smile as he neatly folded the rest of his clothes and set them aside, holding Melvin up and helping him to sit again. "It's me who is weak, I use other people to prop me up, to give me a handle on who I am. But I still want to protect you, I want you to be safe and happy and to feel clean, healed and strong again."

There was part of him that wanted to help people, it was the part that had enjoyed watching animals mend back up under his care and seeing the effect it had on the people who were bonded to them. He wanted to fix Melvin the same way and always had since the day he'd found him in so many metaphorical pieces and thought he'd try.

“That sounds like the best solution” Lawrence said. “Both of us are good at supporting one another’s weaknesses when we have to. I’m sure you’ve made me a different person too since I met you also, I was certainly weaker before, so weak there was almost nothing of me, just Jan. Since then there is more of a semblance of Lawrence, of the person who I used to be and ran away from. It’s a good thing.”

The water filled and and Lawr got into the expansive hot tub with a sigh of approval.

“It is always so nice to get away, to feel like a real person for a little while. Well, apart from the dog in my head, that is. Come on in.”
