The dark fur on the furniture that hadn't looked like Momewrath's. The extra tin of tuna that found its way into the trash can, the extra pitter patter of little paws against the floorboards in the middle of the night, despite Prissy being fairly certain that Chase's other cat was fast asleep on the sofa.
Silk had been living in the house right under her nose the entire time and she didn't know whether she should feel impressed by this lack of knowledge or stupid that she'd missed all the obvious signs.
"Do you think Chase would bother with anything basic?"
Her hand dropped to her hip. "Of course I'm an Eternal. Only the very best for him, you know."
Which left wondering why he'd picked a squirt of a runt as a Guardian in question, but Chase wasn't always open with his intentions. Maybe there was something more to Silk than she realized. Or maybe Chase had a moment of stupid in his decision making skills. Either way, it was clear that they were both members of the household and neither one of them were going anywhere else, anytime soon.
It was an impasse she wasn't sure how to handle, so Prissy did the only thing she could think of: she snubbed him.
Tossing her hair back, she turned and offered him a casual, dismissive wave as she headed back towards her abandoned magazine and quiz. "But whatever - I don't have to explain myself to a cat, of all things. Do whatever it is you're supposed to be doing for him - I have better things to do with my time."
