"I would not." Her voice spoke up "I do not." Vethra's charming voice was stern, indicating that her words were strong and had value. Her face was not stern, she never really had a 'stern' look. Serious as she could be, her face held a calmness that would surprise everyone. Elegance was her middle name by birth, something that came natural and uncontrolled.
She accepted it as her fate, however perhaps in the past years there was some resentment. Surter batted a hand at Vethra, pushing aside her motion.
She shook her head, a tiny expression on her face. Such same others are so modest. True potential, nearly everyone she had met. Including Surtr.

Her eyes focused on the mans crafting hands. His chuckle softened her ears, slither into her core. He used magic, even in the light of cooking. Questionable, however a joke to her, men take the easy way out. A smile dashed across her face. How lame to smile at her own joke. None the less,
it was delightful to watch. The way his fingers began to twitch and move methodically, fire sterilizing the stone, his workplace. Slice and diced, his magic dancing across their food.

Her gaze snapped upright, startled by his words. Did she correctly hear him?
A slow blink as she seemed confused, rattled by his words. Her head lifted off the tree as she seemed even more intrigued by the man. Her eyes darted around his face, examining each crevice of his, enticed. Her brows twitched, moving close together as he stated another blow to her. A ping at her heart, her eyes wander down to his chest, his body heaved at his breathing. She'd note a scar different from the rest. A surgical one in a sense. "It didn't.... did it?" Vethra bit her tongue. She wished with all her might to bring those words forth. When locking eyes with the lavender eyes, an emotion she could not depict lay beneath them. Her body straightened unknowingly. Vethra didnt know how to register his light tone with such an eerie gaze.

His attention drew back to the food, her eyes remained locked onto his body,
his facial expressions etching into her memory. He knew very well she wished to dig further in his life, yet his little game prevented her the freedom she wished. Vethra blinked, casting a glance at her slider fingers that lay against her lap, tapping gently at each other. "I carry no special reason on leaving my land. The thirst and need for something more grew at my core.
I was pampered, treated nearly like a god in my village. Such things..."

Vethra attempted to struggle a sentence together "meaningless." Not quite what she wished to say, as obvious to her face. "Suppose greed took me to far lands. Some of which not friendly to an elf." Shed shrug lightly at the memories of them. "However nothing worth mention." Her voice telling truth, her truth. She gathered her thoughts and shuffled slightly "You. Why did you gather me? Of all people, I am not the most skilled for Karst." She rubbed her hands together, eyes once again wishing to explore Surtrs own.

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

As he saw the curiosity tugging at her he chuckled softly. It was obvious she wanted to delve into what she observed. His perhaps not so subtle hints had no doubt lead her to the bread crumbs which stay lay upon his person. "Please feel free to ask many questions per turn. I can keep count in my head." He said with a soft smile allowing himself a momentary chuckle as the food continued to turn. While he had laid out the rules of the game previously he was sure she would honor it even if they didn't formally follow each rule to the letter. Besides the more fluid their conversation the easier time he would have while trying to solve this little enigma before him.

He nodded softly as she responded noting it as a good enough reason. It was ambition that brought her to this harsh land. A common thing that pulls people from the safety of their comforts. Surtr himself had often times been drawn away. "I can agree with that. They insisted upon pampering me while I was king. I partially believe it's why I changed the political system of Karst. That and it gets quite annoying to be seen as the sole arbiter of your people. I prefer collaborating over dictating." He said briefly remembering his time as king. It was a very trying time of Surtrs patience. He would dodge out as often as possible and much to the dismay of his court he would rarely ever be on the royal ground or in the keep.

As she asked her question he tilted his head back and forth for a few seconds mulling over her question. He reached into the fire and pulled forth the two cooked kabobs and held one in each hand allowing them to cool a bit. Their aroma was wafting in the air and it smelled quite delectable, at least in Surtrs mind. "Those who are geat rarely think themselves so." He uttered deciding he would first display that notion she had that there were better hands that could have been chosen. "Skill is something that anyone can gain. I am not particular interested in such tangible things. I am far more interested in intangibles. Things that no matter how hard someone works they sometimes cannot attain." He said offering her a kabob now that it had properly cooled. "For instance a kind heart and gentle touch. While someone could feign this, perhaps even very well with enough practice it isn't something that can be earned through time and hard work. It is something that you are born with. An intangible trait that is an integral piece of the puzzle." He said with a soft chuckle, a little paradox had just been unintentionally created. Every piece was integral so singling out one to be the key was more of just nonsense but Surtr knew she would be able to extrapolate his intent.

"Why did you agree to join me? I'm sure any man or woman would be happy to take someone like you on whatever kind of adventure you'd like. So why agree to go with an old mage like myself? Surely there is conpany though is far more.......satisfying than my own." He said giving pause to perhaps add a bit of ambiguity to that last phrase. What exactly was he implying with the word satisfying? Surtr often loved using ambiguous fiction a chance to see how his companions made choices was a great opportunity to gain insight into who they were.

A smile crept against her face as Surtr noted her seering curiosity, he released her in allowing multiple questions, she would lap that up like a dog with water after a run. Her fingertips tingled as the electricty inside of her soared to the brim, how how she loved finding things about such an interesting man. She would keep her mouth closed, allowing his turn first, her head turned to the food that he had almost finished. The smell was inviting and delectable. Vethra wouldn't usually go for a kabob, however it was easy to eat, not exactly easy to cook.

Fingers dancing together, her attention drew back toward the Mage, speaking of himself once being a king. Not exactly surprised that at one time, Karst decided to follow the status quo. He was a magnificent creature, people would flock to kiss his feet, as they had done with Vethra long ago. He motioned for Karst to change the political system, preventing such a luxury.
It was riviting to know others thought as she did. Having a higher status such as king, queen, even God seemed inviting until the deed was done.
You were an image many expected perfection with, however impossible.
Something to dislike, at least for Vethra, and it seemed Surtr as well. How delightful.

Following his head as it tilted back, her head tilted to the left, curious with his answer. She would place a coy smile against her cheeks, her face turning to the left, slightly embarrassed by his subtle compliment. "You are too kind,
indicating such things exist within me."
Vethra's tones boldly charming and sweet, pushing to the very core of anyone. Her embarrassment placed a flush against her cheekbones and a warmth inside of her she did quite enjoy. Her hand outreached to grasp for the food, taking it in her slender fingers and bringing it to her lap, not quite deciding to eat yet. "It brings me great joy your skills at flattering, I thank you for such a compliment." Her head would finally turn toward the charming man, a smile gentle as can be against her face.

Her eyes turned to the food he had prepared. The smell delicious and mouth watering. Smell always played an important role in cooking, it was already tasting delicious with just a smell. She cupped the stick the food hung on and brought for it, taking a bite of the delectable smelling meat that hung from it. She chewed and savored the flavors of it all. The two brought minimal ingredients, so to season something well in these times was a surprise, a nice surprise. Her head would nod in agreement to her taste buds "Quite a delicious....kabobs, thats what their called correct?" the elf would laugh quietly, such an odd name. A cheerful smile against her cheeks as she took another bite.

Attention drawn back onto Surtr, her eyes met with his, his ambiguity was intriguing and riveting. Push and pull, something rarely seen with Vethra as majority was push from the other party. "You've brought me great satisfaction thus far... I do hope you intend to continue such pleasures." her lips oozing with hints of pleasure, a selfish smile against her cheeks. Her body would shift slightly as her mouth took another bite. Chewing and swallowing, a question was brought forth "All those scars," her sick of meat pointed toward the mass of scars "Surely you did it to impress the ladies." she would jest lightly "Did any bring you close to death? Any worth escaping your lips?" her voice inquired lightly, hopefully.

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

As she mentioned him being to kind he chuckled softly. "No I merely just report my observations. I believe when I used to pursue women I was far more forward." He said tapping his chin and thinking for a few moments before a light chuckle. "Yes, I suppose I am just a very open person. I tell what I see." He said with a very soft smile taking hold of his own kabob. "I am not intentionally complimenting you, just reporting what I see. The two happen to be one in the same at this current moment." He said with a smirk playing off his words as if to lessen their meaning. He tended to be a very complimenting person he supposed. Though he always just said whatever was on my mind.

"You're right that's exactly what they are called. I thank you, I would normally make something a bit more elegant but given our present location I felt kabobs would be the best." He said with a soft smile taking a bite and eating the first piece off the top letting out an audible mmmm obviously enjoying the taste. "Well I am quite glad you are enjoying your time so far. I hope I can continue to give you a glimpse into what adventuring is like." He said with a soft smile pleased that she was enjoying herself. He noticed her shift in movement and took another bite of his meal while she began her next train of thought.

She mentioned the scars purpose and Surtr began to laugh, more than a chuckle a good hearty laugh as his right hand came around and wrapped under his waist to support it. "No I can assure you only one of these scars were intentional. Most of them are from the same person actually." He said with a soft chuckle before looking down upon his chest. He found a large circular scar on his left shoulder and pointed to it with his right index finger. "This one was rather interesting..... I was looking for a rare bit of magic atop a mountain range." He said clearing his throat knowing he would just summarize for her.

"I found it on a plateau and when I went to retrieve my price I was met by a dragon. A very old and power one, he wasn't very large but he made up for it. He promised me the object if I could defeat him. I attempted to reason but the being was dead set on going out in a blaze of glory." He said with using quotes with his free hand at that last part to insinuate their battle was ordained by the dragon. "He ran me clean through with a single talon." He said smirking as he looked down upon it. The scar had roughly a six inch radius and so it was a wonder Surtr even had motor functions with his left arm at all.

"The dragon got what he wanted and thanked me in his final moments before passing. I took what I came for and now I have something to remember that battle by." He said taking a bite of meat and smiling softly as if he were fond of that being. "What about you? Such ornate end deliberate markings, far more elegant than my marred form. You must have a tail to tell about them." He said asking his own question before taking another bite of meat now half way through his kabob.

Flattering would get Surtr far in life, perhaps the reason he chose such a path. Vethra would accept his supposed observation and chuckle at the idea the man was even more forward, that must have been a sight to see. Vethra however did not wish to see such things, despite how intrigued the elf was,
the idea was enough for her pleasures. Knowing Surtr now was the most ideal, it gained even more knowledge than his past self. You know that expression females give, when theyd wish to instigate further, yet dont wish to. The sly smile, pursed lips, playfully narrowed eyes, often flicking their hair between their fingers. Yes, Vethra portrayed that quite well.

His warm laugh kept the fire going, his right hand came around his waist, chuckling heartedly. Something that Vethra loved in all beings, happiness. Laughing is the easiest remedies thus when laughing with such warmth, she herself remains warmed. All the scars from a single person? Just how much trouble can one being cause to have scars litter their body. She would have to pester him later about that, taking a bite of her food she listened in. Her eyes trailed with his finger, memorizing how it was etched into his skin. A continuous smile spread across her face as he begun a short but sweet story. Eyes trailing down the large scar, holding a magnificent story. In truth,
Vethra could relate with the dragon. She was not as old, knew not many things, however one thing was for sure, she would die with a purpose.

Her lips licked away whatever remained on them, eyes moving toward Surtrs face as he questioned her now. Her eyebrows raised, surprised by his question. "Surely you have heard of our markings?" Her head turned,
curious to how someone such as he had not heard of them. Perhaps he had,
and wished to only hear it from an elf themselves. Vethra would let a small sigh escape her lips as she brought forth her history to him "These markings are a rite of passage into adulthood. It is a sacred act." Vethra seemed she wished to visualize her own face, to aid her story "To gain such a thing a great deal of prayer, meditation, and faith to our Gods is required. When our elders see us fit for such a thing, we begin the ritual.."
Her finger raised to touch just against her cheek, grazing against the etching. "It is a painful one, however not allowed to show any fear. For if the elder notices your weakness, the ritual will stop and you will never receive such a gift." Vethra continued her eyes wandering down to her hand that held traces of her tattoos "The elder chooses what design, each unique. Each hold the wish of the Gods, what they demand of us." Vethra stated softly "The depiction of me is of love. Love of everything." A smile dawned, appreciative of such a gift. "The gods gave me this gift, I appreciate it very much. They could not have picked a wiser path for me."

"It must be nice to have a path written upon your flesh. A guide in plain sight for you to look upon whenever lost. I could have used such a thing many times in my life." He said admitting that he had gotten lost along his ways many times. "I have heard of the markings but I enjoy hearing peoples perspective. I can see how you would receive such a path." He said with a soft smile finishing his meal and setting the stick against the fire so that it would join soon incinerate into nothing. She told the tale beautifully and it was a lovely thing to listen to. The sun had now set and the fire had dimmed to just embers now. The clouds that constantly loomed overhead were prevent any star light and so the orange coals were seemingly the only source of light in the area.

"I believe it is your turn to ask a question. Unless you have grown weary of this game and wish to turn in." He said with a soft smile wondering what she would choose. The events of the day were rather exciting and so he wouldn't blame her if she wished to drift off. He would stand guard throughout, being sure to watch for anything that may bump in the night. She was his healer she needed to rest, he could easily fight with a bit of sleep depravation. When you were as old as Surtr you learned to function without such things. At least for a temporary time.

It seemed fitting that she be considered for the position of healing professor when the path she picked was love. A rather serendipitous event and one that was not missed by Surtr. Since she did not take her turn he may as well take his and he would answer two question if she wished to ask. "With such beautiful markings and lovely disposition I can only assume you are quite popular with whatever you fancy. Is there no one special in your life?" He inquired stepping into a more personal realm of questioning. To be fair she started it with the playful remark about his scars he would not follow up and see.

A guide indeed, she had never thought of it in such a way. A soft nod as her cheek was touched by her hand, remembering that painful day. She had grown up rather quickly. Grace was a gift, as was her beauty. It was only fitting the Gods deemed her a gift of love, everlasting love of everything.
She loved to love. The warmth she gave and was gifted, nothing could replace it. It was a path, indeed guided. The pain she endured was worth her life. A life of love. Such a nice gift.

The women, distracted by the memories, her head dived back into eating. By the time she had finished her own meal, the sun had set, dark and cloudy. She would toss the stick into the fire, the orange coals engulfed the stick. She would dust off her hands, reasons more unknown. Her hands rested against herself, eyes gazing at the beauty of the simmering fire. The aroma of the smoldering wood hit her nostrils, she would close her eyes, embracing the smell. When he spoke, her eyes popped open, head turning attention toward him. The elf would scrunch her nose, eyes darting to the clouds, just what to ask?

He beat her to it, shed narrow her eyes as unsatisfied by his little sneak attack. Shed have to double up too, all is fair. Seems like there wasnt much rules to this game. Vethra offered a charming smile and a soft shrug "I have been offered many times, hearts of others." She would nod softly "However the gift of love have also denied me love." Her face offered mixed emotions. Her eyes wandered off of Surter, slightly ashamed by revealing the truth. She has loved many, many have loved her back... however her heart could belong to only a single being, something she had not found yet. Her gaze remained downward, ashamed.

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

As she spoke of love and being robbed of it then the solemn gaze she cast caused him to reach out and nudge her gently. "You will find love. It is a certainty. I am as sure of it as the sun that rises and falls each night." He said with a soft smile attempting to push such a foolish reaction from her. Love was no easy thing to find and even harder to keep hold of. The fact she had not found it yet was nothing to be ashamed of. "We have all been denied love in some form. To feel embarrassed by it was frivolous especially when in the company of someone so old as Surtr. He may not look it but he may as well be a wrinkly old man and certainly no one special enough to warrant such a reaction from her.

He touched the necklace that lay around his neck as his eyes peered out into the darkness searching for any sign of movement, anything that would seek to bring the duo harm. Though he saw nothing, even with his excellent sight he could not see anything. It was still and silent, it seemed whatever they had fought earlier had withdrawn and would not turn back up without some more digging. This was fine with Surtr giving her the time to rest and his wounds time to heal only served him. As far as he could tell he did not injure their enemy so this only benefit him. He sat comfortable his fingers slipping from the necklace and down into his lap as he sat silently giving Vethra the chance to fall into sleeps embrace if she so chose.

Oh comforting, the man tapped and pushed at her, comforting attempts. Her smile failed her, a small nod. "Doubtful." Her voice lacking what normally was filled with delight. Such a sad idea, this women not finding love. Her grace would be wasted. However his complimentary and comfort would be pushed against a brick wall of shame and embarrassment. Her eyes dared over to him, knowing things would pass, no point in staying bummed out. That was no fun. He spoke softly to her, stating something she had wished to know about him. Her mind perked up.

Shoulders that were pushed in, closing her body off, opened up. "And you?" Vethra's voice perked up. Her body turned toward him, curious by the manner. He would touch at an object against his neck, her eyes wafting upwards to the man. "Instead of my sorrows, lets dig into yours." Vethra's voice more confident now "You were able to questions, I am as well." Her eyes moved to his own lavender eyes. "The intentional scar as well, my friend. Do tell." Her hands curled around each other, comfort in her own ways.

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

She managed to shake that melancholy tone if only after some time it was still a relief. To dwell on such things was not only a waste of time but in her case nonsense. She would find someone it was impossible for a woman like her to go without someone special. She perked up flipping the script and Surtr smirked. Very well, he had brought on some discomfort it was only fair she was afforded the same opportunity. He let out long sigh centering himself as he prepared for his sorrows to be dug into as she so eloquently put it.

"I have loved, I had a wife in fact." He said with a smirk answering her question and cutting the answer short intentionally so that it still counted but did not reveal too much. She then mentioned the scar the one that was deliberate and surgical in nature. He smiled as she asked it a predictable question for a woman so versed in medicine. Still it had a rather good tale. "I was dabbling with a bit of forbidden magic.... I removed my heart and infused it with power so that it took on a life of its own....." He said resting his left hand upon his chest. "What was one became two..." He said with a smile removing his hand from his chest and touching the other to it cupping them together as if to hold his heart.

"It was very painful, and yet worth every moment. I was afforded great power power because of it. Though it came at a great cost. If it were to be damage I would have likely died." He said noting that having his heart outside of his body was a very risky decision. Still progress never came without its costs and Surtr was almost always willing to sacrifice a great deal in order to gain a step in the right direction. "Though the two halves are now a whole and thus." He said extending his wings for a moment before tucking them back against his form. "What you see came into being." He said implying his current form was but a side effect from dabbling in such matters.

His long sigh that drew out, preparing for what she would assume a story he wished not to tell. He would smirk, but she knew better. Her body and mind stood at attention to the Mage, just what did his answers entail? She was quite curious about it. And out from his mouth came another fact that the elf was unprepared for. A wife. It was something not expected, his phrasing lead a dark path, something Vethra was deeply curious about. She blinked, unsure of how to process such mixed emotions that drew forth. Her shoulders bent, eyes adverting for a moment, body conveying confusion. He threw her off the tracks she wished to follow. Why was she so surprised at the notion as well? Her eyes moved to look at the scar littered mage, wings tucked away thus far. He didn't quite look the type, the lover and loved. He seemed peculiar, not a marriage sort. Whomever courted him however, must have been loved dearly.

Her hazed eyes moved to look at the prominent, purposeful scar that sat on his chest. Subconsciously, a hand moved to the same place on her body, drawing circles as he started another tale. Ah, forbidden magic. How precarious, nearly every tale started with something forbidden. Perhaps no one wished to learn from others mistakes. Everyone rather have knowledge and power. Vethra could not lie as she craved knowledge as well.... however the idea of risking her life, or another for such a thing... she was unsure if her mind would allow it, let alone her heart. Her eyes watched him offer two hands together, as if his heart lay there for example. Eyes studying as Surter continued, words of his tale once more.

With pain comes knowledge, at least in this instance. A soft nod, acknowledging his tale. "To open one's chest, offering their heart for power... That is a feat of its own." slipped past her lips, eyes still eyeing his scar "Something not many, so vary few could do." she would blink blindly, mouth parting once more "Tis why you were offered such a great power, no? Being such a rare bread to complete such a task." Her eyes unlocked from his beating chest, eyes moving to lock with the lavenders eyes. Lavender, such a unique color. Was it due to experimentation? Or was the gift given to him by his parents?

"You weren't originally in that form them.... curious to know." A small smile against her tanned face, her eyes examining his face "I'm sure the form before had you courted quickly." A sly smile cracked against her face. She would shift over for a moment before taking a stance, standing and walking her way over to the bags the two had brought. Hers was more a satchel than not, it did not interfere with movements of her gown nor her staff, yet carries all importance at her hips. She dug inside of it and gathered a piece of fabric. He unable to gather what exactly it was. Taking steps away from the light and Surtr, she placed her body behind a tree that offered minimal coverage.

From the cover of darkness came forth her voice "That necklace you wear, it seems meaningful. Care to indulge me the meaning of such a thing? It does not exactly present as jewelry a male would wear." Her voice would allow Surtr to know her location. Her gown she wore would slide off her body, revealing her underlings. She was clueless perhaps that others besides her own kin had abilities to see into the darkness, further than a human. But clueless she remained. Tattoos etched against her body as a piece of art worth truly enjoying. When she returned to him, her outfit had changed once more. A loose fitting gown, buttons holding together the front of the dress. It had straps as sleeves, something meant for sleep. To cover her shoulders, a beautiful white cardigan to prevent her worries. She had her feet exposed to the ground now as well, enjoying the sensation of the grass blades between her toes. She gathered her hair in a hand before pushing it behind, exposing her collar bones and plopped down on the tree he offered her previously, head tilted to look toward the man, waiting.

As she mentioned his ability for removing his heart he chuckled softly. "I am a rather simple man unfortunately. I am bound by curiosity, slave to it.... I must continuously push the boundary of what is possible." He said interlacing his fingers with one another as he looked to her. "I had discovered a rather lost bit of text speaking of how ones of flesh could be used as a conduit for magic. So naturally I chose one of the most integral parts of myself to offer." He said allowing his logic to become transparent so it wouldn't seem like such a miraculous feat. He was like icarus except he had yet to fly to close to the sun. One thing was certain though his day would come.

"Correct. Actually when I removed my heart my form changed as well. My hair turned a light blond almost silvery in nature. It was quite odd. Though it seemed returning it to its home had far more drastic consequences..." He said with a smirk. "To the contrary I was the courter. I had a very long list I suppose.... Quite embarrassing I suppose." He said rubbing the back of his neck and letting out a half hearted chuckle as if actually embarrassed by it. As she stood and walked off into the darkness Surtr closed his eyes. He didn't need to see her in such a form. He would give her the respect she deserved.

As she returned and asked a second question he chuckled softly his eyes darting open as he went to the necklace once again wrapping his fingers around it. "It is quite meaningful. My second most prized possession in fact." He said with a smirk. "It belonged to my wife." He said once again cutting the answer short. He wouldn't give her more information that what she asked for. If she wished to know she would have to stop beating around the bush. Surtr was an open man he would answer the question but she would need to ask it first.

As she returned he smirked softly at her new attire forgetting what it was like to put on and take off clothes. It must be a fun thing. Surtr had no use for such things anymore his feather concealing what needed to be concealed. He could retract them if needed a rather eerie trick but it was just easier to be in this form permanently.

"Limiting just who you are, such a shame. Too many do exactly what you are doing. Belittling one self." The elf spoke her mind, hips rocking backwards as she relaxed against the tree "In a society that profits from your self doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act." Her voice had a sort of lyric to it as her chin raised, voicing to the world. Her eyes fell against the man "Simple is but a vocabulary word that presses against your mouth. You are not simple. Denying your capability is an insult." contentious star against his face "If you won't take it as one, I shall for you." Vethra would clasp her hands together and offer a confident smile "You are quite welcome."

Her lips would purse, eyes narrowing slightly at the idea he was the courtier. Her mind would rattle at the idea, she could see it. The idea was quite worth a small chuckle or two. He would rub the back of his neck, embarrassed by his actions. Was he the type to chase after women? To lap at a her feet? "Embarrassing indeed." her charming whites flashing at the man.

Things would draw to a happy conclusion and a now serious matter was pressing against the two. The coat she wore gathered at her elbows, the loose ends at the ground, she would grip them and place them gently into her lap where her gown would dip in, gathering just the same. "She has elegant taste, however I believe it was meant for her, not you." Vethra began with a warm smile, eyeing the prize jewelry. "Did she give it to you or did you acquire it by other means?" her head tilted to the side, eyeing the beauty. Perhaps he wished for her to ask something more? After the little joking lifted her spirit and simply understanding the man better sufficed her need for knowledge now. The night was in its prime and her eyes had started to grow heavy, soon she would have to recover.

...For out of the ground we were taken... for the dust we are...

As she spoke of limiting himself and such things he chuckled almost returning to the heart laugh from earlier. It was a very humorous notion. "to the contrary I merely understand who I am. I suppose I was exaggerating for effect earlier. There is more to me than just that but I would say it is my defining trait. I am often times consumed by it." He said speaking plainly now to ensure that his point was communicated. He did not claim to be a shallow man but then again he did have dominant traits and his curiosity was the most dominant of all. It is what drove most of his actions and in turn what brought him to this point in his life.

As she told him that he was to be embarrassed he smirked before shaking his head. "I was younger and man who merely wished to take in all of life's wonders." He said being honest with his intentions. He never womanized any, and most of the time he preferred the courtship than the deed that followed at the end. The game of getting to know someone in an intimate way was quite exhilarating and a feeling he very much savored. Though such times were long behind him and he doubted he could even muster the charisma to achieve some semblance of talent in that field anymore.

As she complimented and then poked fun at the necklace the arch mage smirked softly. It was not her fault to joke about such a thing. She did not know from where it came and if anything Surtr had set a trap for her. Though it was more of he disliked when people beat around the bush. She had now asked the question and so he would tell her. "It was a parting gift I suppose....." He said with a soft sigh looking down upon it now with a soft smile. "I killed her.... to save our daughter, and after she left this world I decided to take this so that I could always remember her." He said smiling soft as he looked back up to her. "Though I suppose I could never forget her as she's the one who gave me most of these scars." He said chuckling whilst forming a very fond smile. A long sigh escaped his lips a longing of sorts it being apparent he missed the woman he killed. As he looked to her she would see the soft smile but in his eyes would be nothing but pain. Anguish, and suffering all threatening to pour out of those lavender pools. No tears welled but the emotion was apparent.

Men always had to get the last word. Somehow they always seemed to pin it on the females. We're the ones that have to get the last word in, yet here the mage was, demanding he correct her. Vethra bit her tongue, eyes glazed for a moment. She would snap out, focus on the mans words. Her eyes narrowed slightly, slightly forgetful about what she had said. Her head tilted curiously, 'take in all of life's wonders'. Hmp. Perhaps he could have worded it better. Then again, those were his words and thus true in his version. A chuckled smile with a small shake of her head, following Surtrs actions.

When the conversation diverted to the necklace, she knew they begun to turn down a darker path. Something most didnt wish, some would purposefully go, then Vethra, one that accidentally went down. His gaze diverted, a downcast. A soft sigh pressed against and out of her parted mouth. Her eyes turned toward the man whom was probably reliving the exact moment. And once again, he surprised her. A daughter now? He looked not like a father. Her eyes begun to look deeper, the feeling she had felt. Her head shook slightly. He was caring, nurturing, protective. He was a father, and at a point, a husband. She wouldn't deny how she begun to admire him further.

As he looked to Vethra, a soft sign pressed out of her lips, her eyes expression what her mouth wouldn't allow. There wasn't regret, she should have figured it was a trap. However like a deer, she was caught, so accepting was probably best. However this wasn't for her, nor about her. Her eyes trailed into the mages lavender eyes. She questioned once again, how in the world they managed to be such a beautiful color. Her hands craved to cup his face, sooth his mind as she peered into his own. How much had he suffered? Imagining having to take a life to save an equal life. Her heart sank, clenched, yearned to even just attempt to relieve the feeling he was feeling. A hand outreached for a moment, wishing and wanting, then retreated. She was afraid to.

She wished to ask, but feared she might press to hard. She bit her lower lip for a moment, letting it get swollen with fear. "Your wife sounds lovely. All those scars..... I bet you deserved every one of them." Her voice spoke up, a soft smile against her face. "I'd love to learn more about both of them. However I do not wish to push you." Vethra refused to loose her eyes to Surtr, a wider smile now "We've only met today after all." A soft chuckle.
