Head tilted, uncaring of the weather, the teen attempted "Shhhd?" Well that was an interesting sound. What did the call mean? How was he able to make those sounds?

Standing still he couldn't decide what to do, leave or stay? Glancing around he couldn't find anywhere to leave to and was now turned around about finding where he came. Oh his was distressing!

At the others attempted noise, Tris made a show of smiling broadly and nodding, trying to convey his excitement. Maybe his amplification was working, or maybe this exchange was just going well. But it looked like they were getting somewhere. "Shield." The male prompted again while giving the mentioned object a little bounce. He was still holding it out, offering it for him to touch.

But he needed a plan. He didn't know how he'd go about convincing him back home with him. But the thought of leaving a youth out in the rain in the middle of the storm...even if he did look unfazed by the weather.

What to do, what to do? His previous errand to visit Star Grove was a dull memory in the back of his mind. If he left the boy, who knows if he'd ever find him again. But on the other hand, if he took the boy home, would it be considered kidnapping? What if he had a family out here of similarly feralness? Such moral dilemmas.

There was that expression again. Showing teeth was a sign of bitting but his didn't seem to be so, something about the posture didn't strike him as aggressive. Now the call again, only thing to do was try and make it back "Shhheeeeld?" Brow knitted together he wrinkled his nose and stuck his tongue out experimenting with 'e' sound. Nothing he'd ever heard made sounds like that.

Reaching out he hesitantly poked the object presented. Pulling his hand back as if it bit him, it took several more moments before he was comfortable enough to poke it again.

The fae was ecstatic. He was learning! At least maybe. Another happy nod. "Good! Very good." Not that the other would rightly know what 'good' meant. But hopefully his happy demeanor conveyed how pleased he was.

As the faun poked at his shield, Tristen was sure to keep it still and steady for him. No sudden movements with the scary shield. No. He couldn't take him home. As much as he would like to sweep the youngster up and give him warmth and shelter, the shock of something so different would probably give him a heart attack. He knew how feral animals took to being put in a box, and taking him into a house would feel like a animal trap. Since he didn't understand words, he wouldn't understand that his abode was no trap but a kindness.

He would've liked to completely hand over the shield. Unfortunately, anything he created quickly dissipated after leaving contact with him. Especially with such a weak shield, it would instantaneously disappear. Which he had already learned was a bad thing with the tentative teen.

Huh, well it was working with this strange animal, the only down side is he seemed to come up with new calls. One can't do that that! Frustrated he pulled at his hair and repeated, "Sheeeld!" That call worked, now he was adding sounds the teen had never heard.

It was hard to be too mad, this thing he had was pretty neat. It appeared out of no where and now was touchable! As the comfort level grew he got more insistent on poking it and moving the edges. How was this thing what it was? Like feathers on flying thing? That couldn't be to true as feathers never appeared like that before.

A blink when the boy tugged at his hair, suddenly appearing frustrated after saying 'good'. Too much stimulation again? He bit his tongue by saying any word prior to, "Shield!" The teen almost had the word completely right. Best focus on that.

He let the faun poke and prod at the item in question. It was good for him to work out what it was, so he wouldn't think it was some deadly evil magic. That it was solid and 'real'. He reached out with his other hand and gave it a rap with his knuckles, getting a nice 'thunk' in return.

Come to think of it, he had packed a light meal for his walk to Star Grove. Food was always the fastest way to his own heart. Maybe the teen would like a taste?

Evilsilverdragon
XD understandable. Tris is too excitable, moving too fast for the poor boy.

With his mouth twisted and eyes wondering, one teen was ready to move on. Only, that call happened again, as soon as the familiar sounds came out his ears were keyed on. "Sheeeld!" The call was getting fun making other sounds then what he was used to had a challenge to it.

Then the thunk. Oh, that was interesting! Widened eyes followed the action and sound before his own hand went out to hit the item. It made the sounds! Laughing he hit again with enthusiasm. It wasn't like hitting the tree, the sound was different!

The fae was about to nod his head, but it wasn't an action the other would understand. So instead he responded by laughing in turn. Yes! Marvelous! A first word.

As the teen played with his shield, he slowly -as to not startle the boy- reached for the satchel on his hip. Carefully untying the knot to open the top and reach in to produce a piece of dried deer meat. Now Tris was no cook. Never had been. Partially why in his younger days he tried to feed a baby peanut butter. So most of his meals were prepped by Adora, or rather simple.

He gestured to the teen with the meat before making a show of pretend nibbling on it, followed by fully extending it out for him to take.

Laughing and flicking rain soaked ears, Evergreen focused fully on the shield. The thunk sound was so cool and it changed by how hard he hit it! Memories of hours in his little tree making sounds rang through his head. It was a different type of sound from the wood and this thing.

Head tilted again he wondered if the sounds would play well together.

Smell of food quickly pulled him from the internal beats. Looking at the piece of something, smelt like meat, he watch trying to decide if he was hungry enough to attempt to steal it or not.

Then, then, the other handed it towards him. Oh there was no going back from that gesture. With lightening speed of a hungry scavenger, the teen grabbed the offered food and quickly shoved it in his mouth. Turning his shoulder to the other, he attempted to hide enough to finish the food before it could be taken back.

He'd like to say that he didn't flinch when the other snatched the food from his hand, but he wasn't anticipating such a fast reaction. It was at least, a very small flinch, barely moving.

Tristen took the opportunity with the teen eating, to pull out another piece of deer. After the other gobbled up the first piece, he offered the second.

So, what was he going to do about this faun? He couldn't just...leave him here. But he couldn't exactly take him home. Nor could he take him to the faun Tree - they'd probably imprison any non-faun within a 100 yards of it.

He felt his brow furrow in thought. Well...if he couldn't bring the Teen anywhere, he'd just go to the teen. Just like that, it was decided. He would frequently visit the boy to make sure that he was alright. Maybe teach him some words...Maybe find his family. Some pae young as him shouldn't be alone on his own in the middle of the woods.

Most of the meat was inhaled as much as it was eaten with very little chewing. If asked the teen couldn't rightly tell what it tasted like only that it was food. With most of the piece eaten, he looked back to the tall thing with more food.

Eyes widened just a fraction, Evergreen was quick to grab the food offered and right back to inhaling it as if it would vanish in a second. Fear washed away with the lure of food, calling the teen to approach closer as he tried to figure out where the food was coming from. Was the hand food?

Tartara Seabreeze
Tris what have you done?!

The wild pae was eating the food faster than he was producing it! He blinked as the deer was gone from his hand before reaching back into the satchel. A now-slightly soggy- piece of bread. Courtesy of Adora, and mostly shielded from his weather resistant satchel. But a few drops had fallen in when he opened his bag, and now with him holding it.

After the bread, he wouldn't have anything left. It was just a snack after all, planning on eating a real meal at Star Grove.

Evilsilverdragon
He knows not his folly! But I fear he will soon.

There was a small pause, the tall thing produced something he'd never seen before. Glancing at it, he decided since the other two things were food, this was food. Reaching out he grabbed it and started eating. The teen's expression changed to wonder as he actually tasted his first bit of bread.

Even better, he saw where this one came from so the trick was to get the hanging thing for more food! It was magic!

Tartara Seabreeze
Oh yes, yes he will

And that was that! The teen looked most intrigued by the bread. A good thing to end on. He made a show of brushing his hands together to show that they were empty.

But the teens eyes looked fixated on his satchel. With a blink, he untied it from around his waist, then turned it over with a shake to show nothing was left. A few tiny bread crumbs tumbled out, but nothing more.

Not satisfied, Evergreen got bolder, going right up and grabbing the bag of food. Tugging he shook the time several times expecting food to drop out as he it had before. Seeming that it wouldn't he then examined the other's hands several times over.

While he decided that biting the hand wouldn't be food, there were was a show of stomping his hoofed feet in frustration. This thing had food, now it didn't!
