 "You'll find the herbs for the poultice just over yonder. But be wary, my dear rose, the path will not be kind to you." she said softly, nodding beyond the brambles. Were they always so overgrown and imposing? And.. where was the entrance?
Confusion bred anger within Nightmare, and she growled. "I don't have time for this!" She bit down on the thorns, caring little for the cuts they made in her mouth.

as the world faded away.
And then she woke with a gasp once again, in the bed of petals she went to sleep in. With her owlcat, Thornprick, sleeping silently beside her.
No sign of the lynx.
No wounds on her body.
Just a terrible dream.
She sighed with exasperation, but wasn't able to fall back asleep that night.
Instead, she stared out into the brambles, hoping not to see anyone approach.

Nightmare-of-Roses woke, a ways away from her brambleden once again. Somewhere dark and dank. A cave? How could she have woken in a cave? It didn't feel like she was dreaming, everything seemed sharp and clear despite the dim light. Was she sleep walking? Without Thornprick? It felt strange and unnerved her to be without her owlcat.
Shaking her head and stretching her legs, she noticed a wetness on the floor. Inspecting it further, she smelled that it was blood, mixed with the water dripping from above. A soft chittering bounced off the walls, coming from a wounded bat that had dragged itself onto a flat rock, surrounded by a small forest of stalagmites.

Suddenly the bat decides she's too close, and nips her sharply with it's fangs.
She growls at the sting, but at least the distance between them is closer than before.
