Her mouth opened then closed as she just stared at her woman. Pretending that she was a tree likely wasn't going to help much in this situation. She eyed the moving stomach and turned her head a fraction to the side as if wanting to look away but couldn't. Ariya made a disgruntled noise but placed her hands on the belly. "Just so you know.. the little ones aren't actually IN the tree. They are in a flower bud." She needed to say something to keep her mind off the fact that the baby moved so much. "Yeah? Well that'll be a relief. Though.. I am worried about how it's gonna get outta there." Yeah, that part was still a mystery to her. Ariya wasn't so sure this earthling way of being blessed was all that great.

"How do they not fall out? Flower petals aren't normally strong enough to hold much of anything, let alone a baby." That much didn't make sense to Ujana at all. Sure, she was willing to believe that a race of women gathered their offspring from a magical tree, but babies, who were fragile enough, growing from flowers? "How do you know when...the flower is pregnant?" Even posing the question sounded weird. "Do you still get morning sickness even though the baby isn't-" She scrunched up her eyebrows, frying her brain just trying to think on all of that.
The little one moved again, thankfully less passionately this time, bumping up against Ariya's hand.
Ujana snorted at the coming out bit. "Yeah, you and me both. That parts gonna be loooooaaadddssss of fun." Pausing a minute, she looked back up to Ariya, having turned away a moment to roll her eyes. "I guess you won't really be here for it, will you? These things tend to happen whenever the baby is ready, not when I'm ready, and they can happen quickly so I wouldn't be able to send a letter." It would be nice, for the baby to come while Ariya was here, but knowing her luck it would be just as soon as the alk had gone home to her daughter that Ujana went into labor.

A slight laugh came from her. "Aisha's flowers are a bit stronger than the average." Ariya was happy to know that. After all, it wouldn't do to have one of the little ones fall out. The other questions that Ujana had made her antennae twitch with slight confusion. "Uhm.. when the flower appears then you know you have been blessed. The elders and mystics usually tend to the pods until they bloom." Her hands moved up and away from the belly just in time to miss the movement as she outlined how big the flower pods were in the air. There was a pause as she noticed Ujana's reaction to her potentially not being there. It made the Alkidike look at the baby belly then back up, a smile forming. "Do you think I have time to send a letter to Subira?" Ideally she'd like to have her daughter with her rather than leave her in Jauhar for an undetermined amount of time. Either way she was telling her leafling, in a not to direct manner, that she would stay with her while they waited for the baby to come out.

"I sure as hell hope so. Otherwise you'd have babies flopping out all over the place." She hadn't thought about it before, but honestly, imagining the great and powerful Mystics scrambling to catch infants before they hit the ground was morbidly amusing. Knowing that their infants were safe, though, was pleasing. "Wait, so they don't even let you take care of your own kid?" She couldn't help curling up her lip at that. "If it were mine I'd have my a** there every day, and they wouldn't get the chance."
Some things about alkidike culture seemed exotic and wonderful and others....seemed downright weird.
"If you send it today." She quirked her mouth into a grin, "The baby shouldn't be here for a few weeks. It'd be nice to have her here, but I'm also worried about scaring her. It's going to be funny, to see your reactions, but she's so young. Maybe she could still be here, but just not in the room." That is, if Ariya wanted to bring her at all, which she suspected she would. After all, spending time together as a couple was nice, but Ujana was already beginning to feel odd when she was away from Subira for too long.

She laughed and shook her head. "I said usually. There have been mothers who have tended to the blooms themselves." Ariya had not been one of them if only for the reason that she had been so nervous. She feared hurting the bud and the child within so she left the care to the elders. Though of course now Ujana was making her feel like a bad mother for the decision. So she frowned a little. When she was told that she could likely get a letter to her daughter in time she nodded her head. "Then I'll make sure to get one sent to her right away. She would like to be here too. She is excited to meet her sibling." The chubby alk didn't think twice about the familiar term about the baby. Subira referred to it as her sibling and Ariya often said she would take care of it so it was family. Though she was unsure of whether or not she could claim it as her child. It was something she would need to ask Ujana about.

Ujana had never really thought of it that way; that this baby would have a sibling. Since she was dating Ariya it made sense for the kids to feel that way, especially if they stayed together, but in that sense it also meant that Subira was could be a daughter to her...which Ujana wasn't opposed to at all.
Her only concerns were that if the baby were to get attached, something were to happen between she and Ariya, and the kids would be separated. Of course it wasn't something she wanted, but she knew how it felt to be pulled away from a sibling. It wasn't something she wished on anyone, and really, she guessed it could happen to any couple. She would just have to work on making sure that didn't happen to them.
For now they would just take it one day at a time, and meet life head on. "Then let's head back so you can write that letter. The faster it goes out the faster she can get here." Ujana took her girlfriend's hand in her own and leaned up to kiss her cheek. There was a moment where she simply stayed put, looking up at Ariya with a soft smile before turning away to lead them back.
