"That's better." It was a little forced - a little creepy - but Maritza was going to take what she could get.
"Do you know that you could trip going back up this road to your house? What if you tripped, and got a rock embedded in your eye? Boom, just like that, you're partially blind. Literally doing anything could hurt you."
All you had to do was breath and you were at risk of hurting. It was such a childlike thing to fear that it was almost cute if it wasn't so annoying. "And then, when you got up to go home or run to your mom you could fall again, but this time you land wrong, snap your neck and die."
