Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: Pale Chusi's eye twitched slightly as Count Dixon finished speaking, the militaristic side of her wanted to punch his ******** teeth down his damned throat, but she quickly calmed the rising irritation that was in fact brought forward by the Counts voice "I do not disagree with you that we have need to rebuild Ethe, though this plan of yours will not benefit every territory in Ethe, we all have our different needs in order to rebuild- thusly our different agendas" she said to him and looked at Palude "However let me remind you when it comes to the boarder territories Palude and Solidon have always gone hand in hand, not only in matters of state where we BOTH have to deal with the hostilities of Lionis, but we BOTH have shown support when one of us had to deal with the difficulties of either Bellris for the Watercress family or Phobos for the Chhatrapati family" she said, telling him up front that Palude was nothing special for sharing a boarder with two other Kingdoms, it was almost like her words had been completely glossed over which just furthered her irritation. "Let me be frank with you Count Titanus. The Chhatrapati house and I do not like the Idea of Hisoka being head of Palude." she said flatly "It has nothing to do with his character as I am sure, like ALL OF US he has been doing his best to help out those in need." she paused for a second "However house Chhatrapati has its reasons for disagreeing with your nomination. Firstly because you are making this nomination. So far you control Titania and Etelan and a temporary hold of Antigone, not to mention that if the rumors are correct you plan to make a bid for the mayor ship of Etherland and you have a tight bond of friendship with Kaishin." Chusi stared at Count Dixon, the annoyance at the thought that he might not be taking her seriously showing in her eyes "Already that's more then half of Ethe, by putting Hisoka in a position of power where he is answering to you unnerves House Chhatrapati"she then looked over at Hisoka for a moment "The second reason I would like to bring up is that The line of Palude has not died out like you so eagerly seem to want" she looked once again back at Count Titanus "High Duke Watercress' daughter Katrina is my mother, she has two sons in my older brothers. If we look at the laws of succession the lands of Palude should fall to my brother Argos, not to some agent installed by you" her eyes narrowed "and let me remind you that you are not the crown, Count Dixon. Your back ally deals mean nothing to Solidon and we do not need your ******** Support of House Chhatrapati choose to expand into Phobos" she said, no longer keeping up her ladylike visage "I simply brought up expanding into Phobos because it was mentioned as a possibility since as of this moment we CAN'T produce our own livestock within the ******** barrier, incase you've forgotten already" she said, pointing north toward the red barrier. She seemed to be begging something of a rant started my the initial irritation she felt earlier, her golden eyes nearly glowing as she slammed her hand down on the seat she sat in, feeling a sharp pain in her fingers I am starting to doubt your intelligence Count Dixon. she snapped at him "Because for all of the good thoughts you have brought forth in order to strengthen Ethe and help this Kingdom recover you think everything this Goddess has done is good so far, while clearly your ignoring all the difficulties she is causing. Because of her, our trade with the other kingdoms has fallen to record lows, mixed families such as those who have a Phobosian father or a Bellrisian Mother look in horror as they see their parents die, and because of this recent stunt she's pulled ALL of Ethe has to readjust to eating plants when everyone was more use to having access to more. I am not doubting that we can easily recover from this last issue but it is still troubling to have to deal with it all the same." she snapped at him "At this point I'm starting to wonder if the f**king volcano destroying Ethe was the goddesses fault or not, after all she is the goddess of those same volcanos" she snapped at him, feeling something slightly wet between her fingers and she looked down to see she had cut her hand when she had slammed it down. Her blood was already starting to eat though the wood. She stood up and pressed her lips together as she lessened a yell of frustration so it instead sounded kind of like a grunt as she pushed by everyone and walked away from the seating area. Chusi stormed off a good fifty feet and then stopped and took a few deep breaths in an attempt to reign in her hot-headed temper. She wished she had been born back when the Chhatrapati's clout had been something that couldn't be contended with, but now, having to even compete with a self made count just because her ancestors had chosen to move into seclusion. Chusi's hands became fists as she took a deep breath in though her nose and let it out though her mouth, feeling a few drips of blood fall though her fingers and hit the grass, killing the few blades it fell upon.

The lady was spitting and cursing, unfortunately exhibiting the barest minumum of self control. Was her ire so great against the count or was there something else disturbing her emotions? In any case, the lack of civility in her tone was disturbing at the least. " Sir Hisoka Amari is a knight, and his service is and was for Palude before the eruption. He has long been waiting for the return of his lord, and will continue to wait, be they your kin or not, Lady Chhatrapati." Susumu tried to keep his tone level. Unfortunately, he felt that he was in conversation with a hyperactive teenager, for her behavior here. Even before she responded, or before he could be heard, she had stormed off. Unfortunately, they needed her voice and opinion before he felt he could properly help install Hisoka in the recommended place. However, he would have readily supported the decision. Hisoka was a dutiful and honorable man, objective and without bias. " Would it satisfy us to have Sir Amari stand in as Steward instead?" Susumu offered. The lady had connections, as she clearly noted, but she stood for one house and never claimed another... did she try to do so now? " The true heir should hold the title and land, I agree. But why are they not here to speak for themselves? And if they abdicate their land by refusal to attend it?" This was the disturbing part for Susumu. Many were ruined, first by plague, then next by the eruption. But there were enough that simply left the people to fend for themselves. He was quietly grateful the blaspheming woman left the room before his nerves were too far worn. Perhaps there was a reason the goddess did not bless her land, if this was the true depth of the lady's feelings for the goddess. Hisoka was atonished and surprised to even have been nominated in the first place. Humbly awaiting the decision of his superiors, he inclined his head and closed his eyes. To be overlooking his home region... a terrifying honor. But at the outburst, he could not look up. He kept his head bowed. It hurt to have the lady think he was conspiring in any way. Or to speak such and imply that the baroness was conspiring with the count. It was not Hisoka's experience that this was the case. Nor was it so that he could speak for either of them. So, he held his tongue. He was encouraged by Susumu's staunch support, as well as the confidence that was implied.

Basina Marigold ════ ════ Female // 15 // Orphan Heiress to Antigone Noble ward of DixonBasina hesitated slightly as she looked over at Count Dixon for a moment before watching Lady Chhatrapati storm off. She felt slightly saddened by the womans temper but she thought it normal. She looked over at Susumu "Sir Susumu..... I...im not sure how much belief to place in fairy tales but if I may speak..." she said softly " Supposedly a long time ago the Chhatrapati house took a curse meant for her majesty's family line and it made it so the males of the noble house don't live passed their 25th year...." she said as she looked away They are no strangers to trouble, they have their place in history and they are very loyal to the crown...." her eyes glided over to Hisoka "I don't think Lady Chhatrapati meant to offend you, I believe it might just be in her blood to question everyone's motives" she glanced over at the count before looking down "Even the goddesses...... I am not a big fan of her either since she threw a wall of fire at me" she whispered. Basina then bit her lip slightly "Perhaps.... Sir Hisoka can be a steward but his progress must be checked to make sure he is making good improvements for Palude" she said "and maybe we should make it known that anyone that can prove their noble lineage to the Watercress family will become the new high duke of Palude...?" she suggested "The same thing is happening down in Frostveil since they Kaltaine's scattered after the blast" ════

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100 ... And there it was.
Dixon had warned himself, when preparing for the day's topics, about her temper. Clearly, he needed to make more adjustments, because this explosion of cross words was much worse than he could have imagined, and left him a dumb, mute sack of emotions--scorn and disappointment come to mind first--when it was over.
Had she expected him to come and rape her land as some invading force? Was he as pervasive and toxic as her own choleric blood? He certainly hoped not: such is the gullibility of a big-hearted idiot confronted with the idea that he has done something against his perfect reputation of praise as a hero; so fluidly it washed over, burned him, chilled him, left him more naked than the day he was born in a world full of dragons and armies that were fully protected and weighted against him with their nightmare gear. He felt it now, the reality of the situation. People do pick fights, but this was so calculated--he'd missed something. All that rehearsing, that researching...
The voices were beginning to pick up again. That is, Dixon became aware of things other than devilish stabbings between the ears--something about it all reminded him of how, yes, that must have been it...--how many times he'd been reminded that his pedigree was somehow fraudulent--of jeers and snide, snarling remarks by the established peerage when he and Youkimi were introducing him--damn right he would follow her--things other than that, he concurred with himself in a silent, inward nod, and that, by all its pain and guilt, the alienation of meteoric rising, had tempered the count into the cool, sharp steel he was at that table; he stopped; he was no longer reamed, and, shaking no more, found his resolve cleaved the wave emotion beset him by she who commanded the horizon now clean in two. That was something, he promised himself, for the lesser men to be swallowed by. And on each side lay the vanquished ghosts of rage and depression.
"... I second the motion." They had said something to the effect of Hisoka as steward, hadn't they? Fine. It made little difference to him. He liked his plan. It could continue as long as his influence was in tact. "Until a proper leader comes forward, Hisoka will oversee the reconstruction effort. Now," he said, lifting himself steadily from the table as a Kento practitioner, "make nice while I have a word. We have work to do."
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Into the fire...
Dixon set his eyes on the representation of House Chhatrapati. If it wasn't for the situation, he might have let her carry on as she was--might have saved him a lot of trouble. But that simply wasn't an option at this juncture. No, sir...
The clouds overhead seemed to trap the sound there on their little platform of world-creation--that's what they were doing, wasn't it?--so that each step from the count felt an equally indistinguishable distance away. They finally stopped...
"My lady," the count enunciated, "please..." He gave her time to do whatever she was going to do--lash out verbally, physically, break down, whatever--and never took his eyes from her. His gaze was so intense! Only because it was the look of a man with no defenses left.

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: Pale Chusi listened in as best she could from her fifty feet away and she pressed her lips together and breathed out though her nose, she was supposed to make nice. Her older brother had told her to argue but not make enemies, but damn it that was hard. At this point she doubted she was meant for the world of politics and she wondered how her cousin had turned out so different [Youkimi and Chusi, distant cousins, confirmed] Last they had talked she seemed so level headed and better at getting her point across, she was even so trusted by her majesty, when had the Chhatrapati house been pushed from favor, what king? It could have been the Stella and Sylvano fiasco, they had chosen not to pick sides in the end. She heard foot steps coming over and her shouldered stiffened "Just because one is raised in a territory does not mean they're right to over see it" she said to him after hearing his voice, managing to have a control on her voice despite her body being ridged "That you will have influence in a majority of the territories in Ethe is not something to be taken lightly"" she said, her lips pressed together once again.

Left in the room with the young lady and Hisoka silently seated beside him, Susumu respectfully listened to what she gathered the courage to say. She need not have asked permission of him, because even as he was overseer of Kaishin in his mistress's absence, as head of the Antigone title she out ranked him. Irrespective, he felt more than mere politeness driving him to listen. " We need the strength it takes to be loyal to the crown, in this you are correct, Lady Marigold. If I might only caution, be aware and learn of the old ways, of the reasons our ancestors praised and were careful of how they spoke of the goddess." It was not his place to correct, but he worried about the future if they somehow earned the anger of the goddess that was the embodiment of Ethe's spirit. " We can respect those we disagree with. Not all know how best to communicate, regardless of their position or affluence." He sat relaxed and continued to hold eye contact with the young woman, but his expression was calm and passive. " It was brave of you to speak. Ethe will need that courage."

Basina trailed off for a second as she tried to think of the right words "As a goddess..... couldn't the barrier be finer tuned?" she asked "I know we can survive on the food she's given us.... but since all the animals died... its just a bit disturbing is all..." ════

"I understand that, but... We need you." The count allowed his face to drift to the side in that pause, feeling suddenly very tired, lonely. "You have kept your state afloat despite your struggles. I'm sure it wasn't easy. No one could ask for more in a leader." And yet...
Dixon let himself onto a knee and let himself look up to the choleric lady for the first time (probably ever). "The state we're in is not to be taken lightly either. Now is not the time to struggle for power--if it were up to me, I'd leave the entire restoration up to someone more qualified--but with a bedridden queen and a damaged peerage, what was I supposed to do?" And at this, the count's neck lost its strength. The head of the driven man hung low, just as the clouds scraping the mountains of his ancestors. He felt himself sigh, but was unaware of how he could have stopped such a facile surrender from escaping him.
"I keep reaching out; I put my faith in the nobility of other nations, in my staff, in myself when I can, even in the Goddess--did you know? I was never a religious man before I was confronted with Her Grace face to face; that sort of thing will convert anyone, I suppose... --and yet here we are." He seemed to be muttering to himself. After a moment of this, in which he started but did not finish an anecdote about mining or something--it was all awash when the rain started anyway--he finally looked up to Lady Chhatrapati. "It's time to get to work," he said, somewhat distant, fully motivated to convince himself and anyone else that there would be no rest until Ethe had reclaimed Her former glory as a world power, a perfect hub of art and culture, a radiant symbol of light in the curious world of Epsilon.
"We have amended the proposal," he said, straightening himself out. "No longer will Hisoka become the head of House Watercress; instead he will act as steward--just like Youkimi--and answer to your brother Argos. "All have approved this--and nothing agreed to by us here is final. Youkimi can and has disagreed with me."

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: Pale Chusi looked at him for a moment and listened before she closed her golden eyes and took a deep breath, letting it out though her nose before opening her eyes once again "I do not mistrust you because your house is self made or you have agreements with other nations. All houses at one point had to rise from their own soil and make arrangements with others. I simply do not enjoy history having to repeat itself, weather or not it would with you is not set in stone, but so far the same things you have been doing are the same that House Manasa once did before they tried to install themselves as the ruling family in Ethe." Chusi frowned "It only takes a slip of conscience for everything to go plummeting" she said She took into consideration the rest of what he said and she nodded again "I apologize for my earlier outburst, It was not entirely right of me to do so. You have given me no reason to mistrust you or label you an enemy" she said, pressing her lips together for a moment " I will agree with Hisoka's stewardship of Palude, however I will personally assist my brother in this matter...." she trailed off for a moment as a smirk came to her face "....If you think I am temperamental then you do not want to have to deal with Argos in anyway, it was his idea to suggest expanding into Phobos, not mine." she said to him before looking down at him as he was on one knee. She would then lower herself to his height "Since you don't seem to know much about Solidon let me explain this to you" she said, using one finger to point to his entire body "Like everywhere else a slight bow or a curtsy is a sign of respect. Getting down on one or both knees is a sign of submission, in our customs its on par with presenting ones own head for the sword" she said to him before standing back up "Before we return I do have a question however" she said "I heard the queen was with child a while back, but to withdraw almost completely from running the Kingdom has not been.... well at least to my knowledge no one has used a steward to rule in their name in a long time. Is something else wrong?" she asked him.

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100 (Bump~ Can we get one more round in before the switch??)
"That's exactly what faith has taught me in the last few months--to put one's head on the block as often as I can," said the count as he stood to see eye to eye with the Duke's daughter. "Forgiveness would be empty otherwise, I'm afraid." Now there seemed to be a different matter at hand. The two stood at a distance from the group, able to speak in confidence for a moment longer.
"Yes..." He was unable to forget how things had spiraled downward for the queen. Poor girl. Perhaps in another life--the count, as it might have been obvious, thought she had no head for business--terrific girl though! Sweet--another time without such baggage, she would have made a fantastic head, but today did not seem to bring as bright a horizon for the silvery white phoenix; try as he might, Dixon, extrovert without outburst, grew sullen for just an instant before relating: "... she has seen better days, it's true. For whatever reason, our Majesty has been stricken with a type of nostalgia (the old definition). She no longer seems to be able to tour with the guard--even just a short ways away from the castle--and her replies are slow, listless. I fear that she has begun blaming herself for everything that has gone wrong, not just the eruption..."

Then the young woman was still learning, and as a result, she was still somewhat shy and was afraid of being deemed as outspoken. He could sympathize, but unfortunately, some might perceive this as a sign of weakness. " Lady Marigold, because you are growing in prestige and wisdom, it is natural to be afraid of speaking. Do not let that stop you, for all have their fears. My lady herself was once timid and shy. I first met her when she was very little, hiding behind her father, or keeping her face hidden behind a book or scroll." He chuckled. " You do well to consider alternatives. As we live, we face many problems, and must learn to adapt to what we have, despite the terror that unfolds in the world around us. Disturbing or no, we must survive. My lady became braver over time. Speaking up, testing her voice, and learning that she was important and that her voice did matter." Susumu smiled gently to the young woman. " Do not doubt your worth, Lady Marigold. There is a reason you are here."

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: Pale Chusi looked over at Dixon and listened to him, nodding her head for a second before she breathed out hard though her nose, her arms crossed. She did not enjoy hearing such a thing about the queen, but that was probably why this meeting was called, normally it would be the queen that made such decision like who was granted stewardship over Palude, it seemed that her majesty was all but deposed at this point. Taking a deep breath Chusi looked back at the sitting area "Alright, lets get back" she said to him before she turned and went back to her seat, sitting down. And finally, they had reconvened. Not too soon either. Dixon wouldn't pretend to feel unembarrassed by the inefficiency with which the meeting crawled along, nor would he address it; the count came upon them as a prosaic cloud, settling with elbows as fog on the unfinished table. "My apologies," he said, as was his training. He gestured to the newly rejoined Lady Chhatrapati: "I believe, then, that we are in agreement regarding the new role of our knight Hisoka." In the delivering of this the count found a smile, and a sort of a silent sigh of relief rolled over his shoulders.
"Now," he continued, adjusting in his seat, "I will petition the crown with this, but we are far from finished." And from here the count laid out yet more of his ideas for growth. "I would like to propose a temporary relocation of those who have survived the trials of the past year and returned. Other than Kaishin, the south of Ethe is lacking in leadership. Because of this, I am proposing that those in the south be moved to the northern provinces to facilitate the rebuilding effort." He hand up a finger. "I realise this is somewhat nonsensical at face value, but bear in mind just how many we have lost and how much we have yet to do. While I certainly do not deny the Goddess has blessed us, even the most faithful do not stagnate as invalids; we do not know how long this kindness will last, and as such should move as quickly as we can to reconstruct the housing and production in the north first. It will simply take too long to rebuild all of Ethe evenly with the population we have now. By this time next year, I hope we see sufficient progress to start on the south." And it was set on the table for to vote on.
"Also," he pressed on, regardless of approval on his last proposal, "I have started building a road that operates in a rather unconventional sense." He nodded to each member of the conference. "It is a series of pillars that runs through both my states into the southern border of Bellris. My hope is to extend it through all the northern states." He held up a finger again, signalling that he was not finished yet. "It will not be taxed at this time, to ensure maximum profitability at the foundation of our economy. This unfortunately means that there will be a drop in revenue for the crown. To offset this, I have donated my savings in full to the Abode. I urge you to make some contribution until our productivity warrants taxation." His attention focused on the militants among them. "It should be said also that this road will not be without protection. I am calling for archers and assassins with obsidian weapons--we will supply the rock--to patrol the road and quell brigandry and as a possible defense against military aggression. It is also because of this, that I am asking for your help in forming an official militia. The queen must know of our capability to defend ourselves..." He would take anything they agree to there at that table to the crown; anything that was only agreed to by part of the assembly he would treat with tact, operating at the height of power his autonomy would allow.

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: Pale Chusi thought it over and closed her eyes for a second as she thought, thinking about what her father would say in this situation, before his coma he had been the level headed rock in Solidon. Chusi then opened her eyes and folded her hands before looking at Dixon "I will agree that we should build the pillars, however what you are suggesting seems like it would anything. After the pillars are finished I think what work force you have should go to repairing the roads we use to have." she said to him "When mount Adara erupted it blocked off the main road to the south, between the volcanos and the mountains. We should work on repairing that once the pillars are finished" she paused for a second "However one big point I want to bring up; I believe that no taxes should be imposed on traders in between various states, a caravan travelling from Solidon to Kaishin should be exempt for example. However I think if the barrier ever comes down and traders from other countries return, we should issue special passes for Ethen traders and tax foreign traders at the Phobos, Lionis and Bellris boarders but no where inside Ethe."Chusi closed her eyes for a moment before looking over at Susumu for a moment and then back to the Count since one was the overseer for Kaishin and the other had the ear of the stewardess of Ethe "Beyond this, Solidon will help in forming a militia, all men and most women in Solidon know how to fight so if it comes down to it Solidon can easily form up the bulk...Unlike Kaishin and most of the other States close to the volcano, Solidon only got hit with ashes, we've suffered less damage then most of the country"Chusi folded her slender fingers in front of her "What we should also work giving power back to the Queen. When the land began to cry several months ago I had a servant go investigate, she mentioned seeing an ancient city made of obsidian within. We should see if it is possible to re-inhabit the city and make it the new seat of the crown instead of having her stay in Etherland."(OOC: Underlined the main things)
