With That in mind, Zeke took the piece of kelp that'd been wrapped around his arm and tucked it into a mesh back at his hip. Removed from it's root system he wasn't sure how long it would survive, but it was something to start with. Melvin's question earned him a glance, gaze thoughtful, but in the end he'd answer. "No, not just research partner." His relationship with Harley was a complicated one, but it worked wonderfully for both of them. "Cave's it is. Lead on." He'd gesture in the general direction of the caves, waving Melvin on.

He followed along, moving up alongside the other and watching him move. "Some have runic stones or garbage. Just make sure to inspect the mouths' of the caves. Some bite you." He did not move to swim in any caves but watched Zeke instead.
"So, for how long have you two been together?"

He took his time here, attention rapt as he inspected each and every opening, large and small. If there was anything worth finding inside, he wanted to find it. However, that question pulled him back around with a laugh. "We're not,". He started to say, but paused. "I guess we are, in a manner of speaking, but not how you think." It a complicated to explain, but not in practice. Zeke's relationships worked.

Nit one for vaugeness, Melvin decided to be more clear. "So are you two intimate or not? Are you two having sex?"
Reaching into a cave, he tossed a bar at Zeke. "Mermaid soap."

"Yes," he answered simply, catching the bar of soap as it drifted his way. "Why soap?" Why was it always soap? Where the hell did it all come from? "By that logic though," he'd continue on the previous topic. "I'm also with Ever, and a handful of other people." He shrugged, slipping the soap into his bag. Monogamy wasn't something that Zeke, or the people he was with, really cared much about. They were all content, and that was the important bit.

"I have yet to figure out the soap mystery myself and I've explored these caves a lot. I have yet to find a single merperson scrubbing up. Maybe they sell it to other Halloween freaks." He said, not sure but thinking it kinda funny if they did.
Swimming beside him, he moved into a cave and started inspecting a few stones for any runic quality to carve later. "You sure get around. Living the life." He supposed. The idea that a lot of people would want you was an appealing one.

Treading water, Zeke paused in their exploration to give the Life a long, inquisitive look. "I do. It's quite fortuitous." He was looking for jealousy, or judgement. Amy little flicker of something disapproving. Not that it would matter much.

The only look he gave back was curiosity, as he had already been around Lawr before who had made it a point to say he had many one nighters. Melvin had been the same before Deus.
"I think there are factors other than luck involved, unless you have an artifact I don't know about." He joked.

Shrugging underwater lost a little of the effect, but he did it anyways. "Right place and right time to meet the right people. What would you call it, then?" He had to close the sale, as it were, but that was secondary. Charm and charisma didn't do a lot of good if you weren't interacting with anyone receptive to it.

He didn't look at Zeke as he looked into another cave, jerking back when the opening clamped shut. "Looks and confidence probably."

"Yeah, I'm sure that helps, but if you aren't meeting the right people, your still going home alone." Nothing was a sure thing. Everything Hunter on different variables, and done of those variables had very little to do with the person looking. He frowned as he found another crevice pecked with soap. Then checked the gauge on the air tank. "How long do you want to stay down?"

"What makes the right people?" He asked. What did Zeke see as the ones worth it?
As he slowly swam, he shrugged. "Give me an tank that last a millennia and that's probably how long I'd stay down here. But we should head back."
He turned and gestured, moving up to break the surface.

"That's up to you. Interest and attraction is all subjective, buddy." He chuckled, shaking his head before he kicked his feet to follow Melvin up to the surface. Once there, he pulled his respirator down and his mask up to rest on the top of his head. Turning in the water to locate the shore so they could head that way. "Thanks for letting me tag along."
