Kerras stared at the empty cupcake tin where there had been several tasty piles of undercooked batter only a couple minutes before. Their expression went from shock to dismay. Those cupcakes had been really tasty! Kerras wanted to eat the rest of them!

In her moment of utter failure, a knight in shining armor arrived! Well, sort of. Elidae startled when a familiar voice appeared behind her, then she turned around with wide eyes. Her look of surprise dissolved to relief. "Ahhhh,just a little!" Elidae laughed sheepishly, tucking some bangs away from her face. She watched him closely as he worked on his own cupcakes, surpised by how. "I didn't know you made more than drinks!" Elidae remarked over his shoulder, clearly impressed. Even Calida commented on his work! Her eyes flitted between his cupcakes and his face. Before she knew it, Nucleo was taking off already.

"Ah! I'll see you later, then!" Elidae called after him, throwing him a wave. Once he was gone, the yellowblood stood there for a moment. Huh. She touched her cheek. Was it the heat making them so warm or something else?

"Really? this is your first time?" Calida clapped her hands together and beamed. "You did absolutely fantastic! these look wonderful, But if they don't taste good umm, I'd rather you not torture yourself, you can have some of the ones I made," She handed the seadweller a decorative plate with cupcakes on them with a ticket.

"Aww, that's really sweet of you Zey! thank you" Calida smiled ear to ear and held out a ticket for her. "For your efforts!"

"Excuse me..." Calida cleared her throat to get the yellowblood's attention. "Sorry if I seemed a bit, umm... cold. I just have to be fair to everyone and being friendly and stuff sort of makes it seem like I am padding numbers, so, it's nothing personal okay," She gave her a comforting smile and held out a decorative plate with yellow flowers, a couple cupcakes and a raffle ticket. "This is tomorrows special plate, but I'll give you one, it's a lovely yellow too!"

Api was determined to do better this time. They arrived at Calida's booth fairly early in the evening. They'd tried to figure out what they'd done wrong the night before, but apparently whatever they'd narrowed it down to had been wrong. Once more, they did a terrible job mixing and burned the cupcakes!! But rather than suffer the defeat right there, they decided to just... Decorate them as prettily as possible. It seemed that distracted Calida from how awful they were. A small positive? They'd have to try again tomorrow and see if they could do better. Or at least not burn them again.

Her cupcakes aren't as good as they were last time, but by covering them up in frosting and sprinkles it seems like they almost were cupcakes for real! "Whoopsie I was not as good this time but maybe next time I will do good again okay," she said, and abandoned her creation to eye the stickers. She picked out several strawberry shaped ones and started putting them on her hands and arms. "I like strawberries!"

Psykgi Mentha

Ah, yes, supporting Calida's booth. Psykgi was still struggling with one of the advice things (seriously, some of those were rough stuff, but what was she expecting?) and she was indeed in need of both a distraction and nourishment... which hopefully cupcakes would provide. Maybe. Sort of.

She'd actually almost forgotten about it, but she was glad when she found herself back at the stall, with a mixing bowl in her hands. She was preoccupied, though, her mind still on her advice, and the cupcakes that came out... were really not cupcakes at all.

She had been about to feed it to her lusus when, in a moment where her back was turned, Calida's lusus ate them all. Psykgi's eyebrows raised in surprise, but she said nothing. If the big firebird or whatever got sick, she did not want to be there when it happened.

The sound of music blaring from headphones draped around his neck and the wheels of his skateboard gave Hawk's arrival away long before his face showed up at the booth. "'Sup Cali." The tealblood said with a friendly nod of the head to the greenblood from the Space Ladder. The boy looked around at the baking goods, he literally had no idea what he was doing, but decided to give it a go regardless.
To no ones surprise, the tealblood whipped up some rather...basic cupcakes. In fact it looked like he may have completely forgotten to decorate them altogether. Papbeats didn't seem to mind though, he got right up on Calida's judging table and shoved a hole cupcake through the mesh of one of the speaker holes on his head. It was a little unsettling to watch, but the happy sounds he made offset the creepy with a little cuteness.

4 - all ingredients are in order, you even got it mixed so well! Calida is hovering nearby with the biggest smile on her face. + 3 points
3 - just slightly overcooked, but otherwise not bad! You can decorate these! +3 points
4 - "It's amazing! You're a natural," she claps her hands excitedly and jots down your score on her clipboard. + 5


Zeylla waved lightly to Calida as she entered the cooking area, and said in a lighter tone then usual(most likely from her good feels after winning at Cerise's booth), "I'm back, this time hopefully nothing gets eaten too early," with her tiny smile before getting to work.

It seemed she was proficient at this now, as she basically repeated her experience from the night before, floating through the mixing with ease and baking decent cupcakes(though she set the timer too long this time, and they were a little too brown). But this time she did more extravagant icing, with melted chocolate over the icing to create a breakable shell. Zeylla was pretty proud of herself as she finished.

And they didn't get eaten, mostly because she watched them(and Mami) dilligently this time as she waved Calida down. "What do you think?" she said with a flourish to the cupcakes.

After the wounds to her pride she had received from that other cooking booth (that is, Cerise's), one would think that Dairah would shy away from similar booths. Alas, the smell of delicious baked goods baking was too wonderful to resist, and so she decided to venture over. She was pleased to see that the runner of this booth had provided recipes for the less baking-inclined; maybe this one would be more pleasant than that other troll (Cerise). One she got settled, she took a deep breath, flexed her fingers, and began to bake!

Now, everything seemed to be in order as she measured and scooped and put things in place. When the cupcakes came out, she marveled at their delightful, plush, puffy pastry forms! Beautiful, truly beautiful. As she went to get the decoration materials, she noticed something odd about her current ingredients: that wasn't sugar. That was salt.

A mini-crisis-panic-meltdown surged through her mind. She might have whimpered a bit loudly. In a fit of pique, she dumped icing and sprinkles all over the botched cupcakes and called it done, pouting visibly. Yes, it was very unbecoming of a future worker of Alternia, but she felt inclined to indulge herself. Unbelievable! The cupcakes looked so perfect, but they tasted like trash. Deeply disappointing. When the booth runner passed by without a word, Dairah didn't even have the wherewithal to say anything about it.

Punkie smiled to herself, even tho Calida didn't really give her cupcake a look, but that was okay. She was proud of her friend, running her own booth, being a strong independent midblood. When Punkie did the booth thing she had a partner even! Punkie tried to hide her grin as she put her cupcake down in front of the greenblood. She had snuck a bag of punkin in to use instead of whatever they had here. Punkin made punkin cupcakes, the juggalo's favorite. "This one tastes a ******** better than it's shitty looks portray. Do you really eat all these grubbuckets of cupcakes?" Punkie looked around at all the contestants. She hoped no one did something awful, like adding a banana. Bananas were the worst, the exact opposite of her holy punkins.

Cupcakes! More delicious cupcakes! Since the last ones had been eaten by the booth owner's lusus (and a little soggy to boot), Kerras had resolved to give it another go. They flung ingredients together with wild abandon. It was only when they tested the batter that they realised they had made a terrible mistake.

Frantic, they wiped their tongue on their fingers. Yuck! Proper sanitation while cooking never even occurred to them. They put the cupcakes in the oven without so much as cleaning their hands off with a towel.

The baking process was not much better than before. Kerras looked forlornly at their sad, salty lumps of goop. Cupcakes were supposed to be a delight, but so far all they had tasted was disappointment.
