He watched as Lawr spoke about his own ideas at a specialization, and felt they were honestly suited to what he naturally excelled at, though considering how he used that skill of his, he had to wonder what he could do with a degree of power. It was worth noting Dr. H seemed to also try to put some fences around Lawr to give him room but not the whole pasture to play in. There had been a brief moment that he had worried Lawr might be transferred to Death to better explore his proposed specialization and his heard had kicked up suddenly at the thought of what his limited exposure would be shortened too, but was glad that he would be remaining.
Another hunter had his attention, and he turned in his seat to see the Mist sitting in the back away from the group. His idea were interesting, and he made a note to speak to him later about what he was interested in as it fell in line with someone he wanted to explore as well.
Mik's speech was a little less promising and a tad saddening when he felt his own skills, clearly put down by his father, did not make him suited for anything, let alone Life. Frowning, he wanted to pipe up with a bit of a pep talk, but this was a different setting and one Mik was bringing up to the Leads and not his place. If Mik felt he wasn't suited for it, then it wasn't for him to make those decisions for him. He could only hope he could be convinced otherwise or placed in some area that might let his artistic abilities have some application. He really wanted to steal him for the runic department though.
Once Mik sat down, Melvin stood up, giving a nod of acknowledgement to the Leads. "Hello. For those who do not know me, I'm Melvin Wood. I work in the runic department and have been working on the exploration of the caves under Deus. I wanted to provide an update about my previous research. After many dives and research regarding the patterns of the Fear inhabitants of the island, I've pinpointed an area I feel is worthy of a mission for extraction. After such, I wanted to explore the area and any possible information left behind. While looking into the basic ecosystem of the creatures there, I would like to improve net guns and possible other alternatives to allow hunters a better edge in underwater missions but feel that I would need a better access point from the labs to the ocean. We only have one observation pod and would like to request construction of a second pod for the runic department and for this research." He glanced at the Mist at the end and back to the leads. "Which could be used by other departments of course."

“Thank you, Doctor,” Sherry said with a smile and a nod. It was hard to hide her excitement as she shuffled her papers again, organizing them. She already had a list made up of things she wanted and the cost. Well, estimates at least for some of it. It wasn’t too pricey, she thought, but she was going to need a bit more to keep things moving at a pace she wanted. Though honestly the largest portion of her smile was at the doctor’s comment about how Life Division grows. It was always nice to hear that he approved of this sort of research, even if it was more into history than anything else. Of course, it had been approved in the first place, so it was fine, but still. Good to know she was still going in a good direction. She made a note on her top page turn in budget. She just needed to go over it again and it would be fine.
Sherry sat back in her chair as she listened to others propose things, or seemingly ask for advice. She always found the meetings interesting, just for the sake of hearing what others were working on or thinking about working on. Weather was neat. Disguises were interesting, so was talk of marine based creatures. Rune work of course was interesting. Hm. Maybe she should check into that. She hadn’t run into many runes in her research, but one never knew what they might need to know.
Sherry began to doodle on one corner of her notes, her gaze shifting between whoever was speaking and the view outside their fancy windows. All in all, this was turning out to be a nice meeting.

Not a lot of people would recognize the blonde in the room but this was fine. Even the one that likely would might have to do a double take at the man sitting silently beside him. It had been some time after all. Cain was dressed in usual turtle neck, coat, brown slacks and had his blonde hair combed softly back. The pair of thick yellow framed glasses that made blue-grey eyes slightly beady were removed by slender tanned fingers and gently cleaned with shirt. In days before the man would have absolutely no interest in being here, but since his time off island this had changed. For once the proposals and ideas were listened to intently. Notes written in beautiful cursive in a bright blue notebook in lap as they sparked interest. Cain wanted to learn now, wanted to be useful and that meant finding something he could be part of. At his side Zeke stood and Cain's head tipped up to give attention as the man spoke. Marine biology, had this come up somewhere in a conversation? He felt like yes but couldn't really recall when or how as most of their previous meetings started and ended heated. When Zeke finished a low snort escaped Cain's nose and his pen scribbled in something on notebook before eyes flickered to the next to speak.

Charlotte had arrived on time a little while before, taking a seat next to one of the few familiar faces in the room - Caroline. As one of the surviving University students, and a recently former runic hunter, she felt a little invested in making a good name for both of her previous affiliations. Mostly, though, she radiated curiosity at an alarming rate, watching intently as each person gave their proposal, taking notes of her own. Nothing made someone stand out more as fresh meat on the island than the obvious signs of excitement at a quarterly budget meeting. As soon as there was another break in the conversation, she hopped to her feet, practically on her toes, clutching a blue folder full of papers. “Hi, I’m Charlotte. Charlotte Rhodri.” She wasn’t a particularly striking-looking individual as far as the island was concerned - pale and petite, with a lengthy bob of black hair and a just-slight-too-wide silvery blue gaze. Her clothing style could only be described as ‘haunted hot topic’, layered over with jangling bracelets and good luck charm necklaces. She offered anyone still paying attention a grin and a small (also jangling) wave before turning back to the doctor. “And, well, I’d like to propose a study.” “I’ve had the opportunity to do a little research with what was available to me as a runic hunter,” she explained. “We have plenty of documentation on hunters, but I think we could use more documentation on their weapons, and how everyone is getting along. I believe there’s a lot we can still learn about both weapon and wielder. Information we can use to better assess performance, warning signs and other... anomalies.” “So, I’d like to hold some interviews with established and new hunters, of all divisions - the more variety the better, really. The budget would go in part toward a modest reward for participation. An incentive. Participants will consent to their interviews becoming a part of life division’s public record, for any other possible future research use.” Here she finally stopped talking for a moment and took a couple short breaths, looking very proud of herself. She was fixated on the row of obvious decisionmakers on the far side of the table. People liked confidence, right? Right. “I have a - a sort of budget proposal here, but what I’m more in need of is a designated location to interview people for the duration of the study. Someplace where people will feel… comfortable sharing.” lizbot HELLO AGAIN LIFE DIVISION................ : D

Elio had arrived on time, but his attention span was nothing sort of gone. The man was no exactly the best student in any capacity, and while for a while he did listen in, after a short while he mentally checked out, staring at the ceiling and wondering when someone would have something interesting to talk about ot better yet, falling into his field of expertise.
A long and loudly dramatic sigh, he crossed his legs and wondered how he could get funds to do what he actually knew how do to. That was, study of beuilding structure and chemical compositions.
Pencil pulled out he began to twirl it absentmindedly inh is fingers as he waited for the chance to speak. Worst he could be told was no after all.
"I admit, interested in how building stands to FEAR. It alters thing, makes them ah word- instabile." The pencil spun in his hand was still being spun about.
"Would like to study how they remain intact. How it stays when also decay. Is such possible for research?" His pencil flew out of his hand and into the gathered life hunters.
"... Oop."

"A very admirable and relevant study, young man," the doctor offered Ezekiel a vaguely approving look. "Until your transfer we can't offer deep resources, you understand," his eyes wrinkled briefly with mirth, "but I'll make sure you get priority assignments with the underwater observation areas here and on other bases." Mik got a gentle look, "There's many different sorts of intelligence, Mikael. Some are simply more easily apparent, whereas others need a certain context. I encourage you to stay here and continue working in runes, your artistic nature and alternate perspective can help you there but..." the doctor sighed, "perhaps it will help you feel more confident if you were to spend some time with the Moon Division, get a feel for their work on island and in the field. If you remain in Life, I'd rather it was with the confidence of feeling that this is where you shine brightest, rather than looking around wondering if there's a better fit." The nod was returned toward Melvin, and the doctor listened with surprising patience, considering what was known of past interactions between the two. "I'll need you to focus on one thing at a time, unless you find a runic weapons team or building team willing to collaborate and work on one while you focus on the other. When you decide, I'd prefer a detailed plan and model for this project. Creating new, functional, and shielded outposts is no small matter, understand?" There was a decidedly fatherly look across the doctor's features as Charlotte spoke up, "A most enterprising beginning, my dear. This does sound rather long term and with a great deal of checking back with people to keep a consistent monitor. If that's a commitment you're willing to make, then I will most certainly approve the funding." Sunny caught the pencil and made a note with one hand while flipping Elio off with the other. His inattention had not gone unnoticed, but the doctor's expression didn't change. There was just something extra that had several hunters in the room shifting in their seats as he answered with a smile, " Entirely. I suggest you begin by borrowing a golem and procuring specimens." It wasn't a no, but it definitely wasn't funding.

From the back of the room one of the smaller hunters stood up raising a hand at Charlotte, "I'd be willing to work with you on this long term. Well, at least as a subject?" He glanced at his watch calenders, "I haven't even been a hunter for a minth never mind both me and Sylvia kinda do the remember anything up untill the recent events that happened." Plus they would get paid. To talk about stuff? That couldn't be too bad could it?

Oliver had been sitting quietly, listening in on all the proposals, with a stack of papers in front of him. Somehow he managed to outwardly look calm. Inside he was as jittery as ever, nervous and fidgeting with his hands below the conference table. The meeting room was nice, but far too formal for Oliver to be comfortable. He preferred creaky, worn chairs and old desks, hidden in areas of the labs that were quiet and not often frequented.
When his turn came, the nerves were evident in his voice. All of his effort went into just keeping an even tone, and an introduction was forgotten entirely. Oliver was just an intermediate, after all, and not a very important one at that.
"Sir, ah, s-since the completion of my last supervised project, I have been assisting with some of the other research that has been taking place regarding the neurobiology of the weapon bond. We have identified some areas within the brain that show activity during weapon interaction, and I am very interested in investigating whether this comes at a cost to brain functions more traditionally associated with those areas. I would like to expand upon previous research by including normal human participants as a control group, in addition to runic hunters without a bonded weapon."
Oliver shifted slightly in his seat, clearly uncomfortable with the number of eyes on him. "I already have a full hunter willing to supervise my work, especially the involvement with unaware participants, and a detailed writeup of the study available for you to look over."
