[Floor 2, Room 19 Results]

As the present opened, Amaranth and Pidgey would be blown back by a sudden gust. Strangely enough, the gust seemed to have a few Potions mixed in or something, as Pidgey's wounds would be healed somewhat. This place was feeling like a wild ride and going from badly hurt to just fine in the span of maybe a half hour, the bird wondered if the ride ever ended.

Also, there were a couple of Silver Tokens in the bottom of the box. "Um... thanks?" Getting a happy squawk in return, Delibird went off to the side, waiting for the next person to shower in gifts as Amaranth and Pidgey left for the next room.

[Floor 2, Room 5]

Walking into the next room, Amaranth found herself doing a double take. There was nothing in here too? There did seem to be a few faces imprinted on the walls, for some reason. Looking further, there were also parts of the wall where it seemed to exist all on its own, little else suggesting that there might be more. So little, in fact, that Amaranth went right into one of the invisible walls and wondered what the heck she had just hit. Soon after, a bit of laughter could be heard.

"This isn't funny," Amaranth remarked, peeling herself from the wall and looking to see a Mr. Mime pointing and laughing. Pidgey would try to go after it at once, thinking that maybe it knew more about this room than they did. Instead of help, however, Pidgey would also run into an invisible wall of a sort. This time, it was thanks to Mr. Mime's Barrier. Laughing again at the outcome, the Pokemon ran off as the two gave chase. This proved to not be the wisest of ideas, what with slamming into more invisible walls for the effort as Mr. Mime stayed just out of range for them to reliably get to it. The chase almost continued until Pidgey opted to try and throw Mr. Mime off its footing with Gust. While it worked to a point, Mr. Mime wasn't so easily deterred and decided to unleash a weak Confusion blast to stop Pidgey's attack.

"Look, we don't have to fight, couldn't you just help us-"

"Mr. Mime!" Suddenly, it'd turn and run away. The mostly invisible walls meant it could still be seen, and the two slowly tried to navigate the room. After a while, they'd seem to have some success. They got to what looked like another door, maybe one to the next room. Maybe it did decide to help them?

Quiet, the Mr. Mime motioned to the door, deciding not to taunt in the process and levitating a couple of Silver Tokens to Amaranth for the trouble. This still didn't stop Pidgey from suddenly belting Mr. Mime with Quick Attack, letting the sucker punch serve for her thoughts as the two went onward.

At the door, Amaranth paused for a moment and looked to the Silver Key that she had. Deciding that this wasn't the time to use it, she resumed on to the next room.

[Floor 2, Room 8]

Upon entry, a sandstorm would begin to howl through the room. The raging storm would make it hard to see the sand already in the room, let alone the sandstones that jutted out along the room. Amaranth shielded her eyes without hesitation, trying to keep the sand out as she slowly walked around. Pidgey would end up having an even harder time, trying her hardest to blow some of the sand away. Unfortunately, her Gusts would only cause more sand to blow around and cause the sand underneath Amaranth's feet to suddenly cave. "What!?"

Diving to the side without another thought, a Hippowdon would suddenly emerge from the sand with a loud roar. Though the sandstorm would calm down enough to allow visibility, she'd scramble to her feet and keep shielding her eyes as she went to open them. Pidgey was able to see as well, but not without the sand hitting her eyes a bit and causing her to flail as she tried to deal with it. She'd quickly swoop in and out with a sudden Wing Attack, evading the bite that Hippowdon tried to counter with. It'd be then that Amaranth noticed something. The Pokemon seemed to have a hard time keeping up with Pidgey, and couldn't do much to fight her at range.

If anything, she was a bit too surprised to really give any commands, watching Pidgey keep attacking with several Wing Attacks and wondering why something so big could do so little. It ended up as a more anticlimatc than one might think, if... long. The Hippowdon was sturdy enough to keep at it for a while, and even as it ultimately fell, the sandstorm wasn't about to stop anytime soon.

"Um... okay...? Let's get out of here..." Amaranth spoke up, trying her best to get out of the room alongside Pidgey, both having the sands slowly take their toll on them.

The sandstorm would quickly prove to also make travel difficult. Visibility not being what it normally would be, it took a bit before they finally found their way into the next room...

[Floor 2, Room 7]

Ending up in this room didn't seem to be much better. On top of the sandstorm seemingly following them around, there was now tall grass to further impede the pair and seeing the boulders were easier said despite their size. Unknown to them were the Seviper along the ground, hidden in the grass while their hisses went unnoticed thanks to the raging sands. Before long, one of them lunged out from the grass, noticing Pidgey and possibly easy prey.

[Floor 2, Room 7 continued.]

Luckily for Pidgey, the lunge wouldn't leave any lasting damage, but it would be enough to both hurt and send her towards the ground. The Seviper immediately went to wrap around her as soon as the chance arose, leaving Amaranth to spin as she kept looking around. "Hey, are you..." She trailed off when she finally realized that a Seviper was close by and her Pidgey didn't seem to be. Conclusions were quickly jumped to, but in a case like this, they might've actually been right.

"Get off of her!" Amaranth screamed between attempts at kicking the Seviper, trying to make it consider her as more of a threat here. The effort proved to be to no avail, as Seviper continued to Wrap around the entirety of Pidgey's body and attempted to crush her. A mouthful of sand from the sandstorm was the only thing to make it reconsider, suddenly uncoiling itself as it tried to spit out the sand it wanted no part in "eating." Without hesitation, Amaranth moved Pidgey out of the way and allowed her to get back into the air. "I'm not going to like this... Pidgey?"

Her Pidgey would turn for a moment. "Go all out. Shadow Rush!" Seviper's actions seemed to strike a chord as she issued the command, letting Pidgey slam into Seviper with everything she had. She knew the kinda of risks she was taking with this, but given the alternative, she'd rather deal with her Pokemon going into Hyper Mode again if that happened. As soon as her bird landed the hit, though, she'd see her stop shortly after and flick her wings. Paralysis had finally managed to take hold for more than a few seconds, and Seviper wasted no time in trying to take Pidgey into its mouth.

"I said, get off!" Amaranth shouted before kicking Seviper square in the head, starting to glare at the snake. "She's not your food, now leave us alone!" Pidgey would soon do another Shadow Rush once she was able to move again, following up the earlier kick and causing Seviper to flip over in the process. Between the attacks from Pokemon and trainer alike, it ended up knocked out and laid there. They'd both stand and keep ready as a precaution, but when it seemed like it wouldn't be moving again for a while, Amaranth sighed and let Pidgey perch onto her shoulder.

"At least... you're alright," she spoke up between pants, trying to calm herself down after all of that and sitting down despite the tall grass and constant sand. She figured a moment's break would be a good idea, though she kept her wits about her in case another Seviper came out to try and fight. A few minutes would pass before her SNAG suddenly beeped, however, GRAY deciding to speak up.

"I hope you realize what using that thing in here will do to the labyrinth," GRAY remarked. "Or that sitting there is a fast way to become someone's meal. Oh, and your bird's as close to purification as it's getting on its own. Maybe take after their hard work and start walking."

"Is she...?" Amaranth was a bit confused. She knew that she wasn't able to sense the vile energy that the Shadow Virus liked to give off, though if anyone was able to keep track of that sort of thing, it'd be GRAY. Taking out the Shadow Vaccine, she looked over to the Pidgey on her shoulder. "Guess it's worth a shot... here, stay still." She moved her Pokemon into her lap afterward, using one arm to try and keep her still as the other tried to work the vaccination.

"Just stay calm, I'll only be a second." Trying to reassure Pidgey that she meant no harm, she'd carefully put the needle into the bird and started applying its contents. Though it wasn't the sort of thing she wanted no part of thanks to that needle, Amaranth was able to keep her somewhat still as it quickly worked its way through.

For the first time in what felt like an eternity, a sudden calm came over Pidgey, followed by a clarity that she had long since forgotten about. The angry, always ready to battle look rapidly faded, as she looked up and chirped at Amaranth. As soon as the used vaccine was removed, however, the trainer would take a sudden peck to her leg.

"Aah, hey! What was that for!?"

Pidgey only gave a huff, but she was otherwise content to perch on Amaranth's shoulder again.

"Jeez, I'm sorry... I didn't think this place would be like it's been. I promise you'll get a break after we're out of here, okay?"

Quietly, she'd get up and start her way out of the room, pocketing the used vaccine to throw away later and a couple of Silver Tokens that were lying on the ground nearby.

"You know..." Amaranth remarked as she and Pidgey neared the door to the next room. "Maybe I should give you a name after all. Something that says who you've become. A lot's happened since catching you in Orre."

Though Pidgey kept quiet, she wasn't sure if she liked where this was headed. Wasn't this the part where she ends up with some stupid nickname like Mittens while being something much larger and scarier?

"Gale."

Or not?

"What do you think of that name? I think you'll grow into it."

Thinking more on it, there were definitely worse things to be called. Chirping in response, she'd at least humor it for now.

[Floor 2, Room 16]

Passing through the door, the two wound find something a little more forgiving. Through the sand, Amaranth could see a tree of some sort in the center of the meadow that filled the room. It was actually quite a nice room, if not for the sandstorm refusing to quit still. As she and Gale got closer, a few berries could be seen in the tree's limbs. "This might be useful..." She said to herself as she cautiously reached up, seeing if she could get something out of it.

Before Amaranth could really manage to get anything, Gale took off from her perch and plucked a single Sitrus Berry, opting to hold onto it afterwards. The shaking branches also resulted in a couple of Silver Tokens also falling to the ground. Just where did these things come from?

"Or that works too," she remarked afterward, figuring it was just as good a find as any. Taking their time in the room as a much needed reprieve, they'd soon be on their way as the sandstorm continued to howl around them.

[Floor 2, Totem Pokemon: Infernape]

Compared to the first floor, this one felt like it took an eternity to navigate. The dangers becoming worse weren't much of a surprise at this point, though Amaranth was still shuddering at the thought of that Seviper only a few moments ago. The stairs showing up just past the meadow was a shock, the pair staying in place. They actually made it to the end of this floor, and nothing was around? Not one to press luck, they both hurried on ahead, only for Gale to suddenly be assaulted from above as an Infernape plummeted from a vantage point near the ceiling. Before they knew it, a Mach Punch had connected and sent both of them crashing to the ground.

"Gale!" Amaranth immediately turned as everything unfolded in an instant, her Pidgey slowly trying to free herself before Infernape jumped off and gave sudden war cry. "Wait, what is it-"

A Monferno coming down the stairs would cut her off, taking its place at Infernape's side. It was then that it dawned on her just how close Infernape was to her height, the totem Pokemon proving to be a shade wiser with its call for help. She froze at the revelation that they could quickly be outnumbered and overwhelmed, though despite this, Gale was pecking at the berry she took earlier. The Sitrus Berry's medicinal properties were enough to perk her up a bit, taking into the air with a sharp cry of her own.

"A...are you sure you're up for taking them on? Maybe we should back off and try to get out-" Another sharp chirp came in response, followed by a sudden Air Slash to attack Monferno and Infernape. The slicing winds were enough to keep them at bay for the moment, though if the twin Flamethrower was anything to go by, being up close was far from their only option and this could quickly become one-sided. One of the two was going to need to go down, but the question was who to focus on. Monferno was certainly the weaker of the two, but Infernape could probably just call for more help. It'd be a never-ending stream of fights, even with the Sandstorm doing its worst.

Much as it seemed like it'd be rough, Infernape needed to be dealt with. She'd watch as the totem Pokemon went into a Taunt, looking at Gale as if trying to challenge her. While there was no concern of random Shadow Rushes or entries into Hyper Mode anymore, there was the fact that this wasn't a Pidgey known for her docile behavior. If anything, the Taunt would come to backfire, seen as an invitation to attack. Gale would slam into Infernape without a second thought, smacking it twice with a spinning Wing Attack before flying above it and Monferno with a fierce glare.

She was ready to attack again when Monferno leaped into the air with a Mach Punch of its own, catching her off guard and causing her flight to falter for a moment. "Gale," Amaranth spoke up at once. "Sand Attack! We can use the sand to blind them!" While this would be a sound idea, Gale would have other ideas.

Still fuming from the Taunt, sand wouldn't be coming. Not directly, at least. A strong Gust would be whipped up to go after Infernape and Monferno instead, the sandstorm growing in intensity for a moment and making it harder to see. A flurry of Embers would come in response to try and deter it, but Gale would manage to evade them for a change. Worse yet, they too would be drawn into the gust, pelting the totem Pokemon and its help with a flurry of sand and flames. Neither one did much, but the fight starting to become longer and longer was taking its toll.

"Okay... keep it going, Gale! Air Slash!" Deciding to instead try and do as much collateral damage as possible. Her Pidgey would have less qualms following that, causing the earlier Gust to now become another slicing gale. The Air Slash would be enough to make Infernape bow out, though with it collapsing as soon as it tried to, maybe it didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Monferno would look over in surprise, trying to shield itself and realizing that it was on its own now. Already hurting a fair bit, it'd try to give a war cry to see if it could get one of the others waiting on the now-fallen totem's call.

But its help didn't appear.

Now in a panic, Monferno would try to rush in with a Mach Punch, managing to slam into Gale. A pained chirp would come as she hit the ground, slowly getting to her feet and looking up to see another attack about to come.

"Now! Quick Attack!" At once, her Pidgey would speed through the air, slamming into Monferno and sending them both into the nearest wall. Kicking off the Pokemon soon after, she'd go back into the air as Monferno slid down, the remaining fight in it starting to fade as well. But not before it dropped a couple of Silver Tokens to be quickly pocketed once the coast was clear. "Is... is it over?" She asked after a moment, panting and motioning for Gale to perch on her shoulder.

Seeing that neither one was moving and not wanting to risk more help coming of its own accord, Amaranth would quickly race up the stairs to the next floor and shop that awaited her.

[Floor 3, Silver Shop]

As soon as Amaranth finished ascending the stairway, she and Gale would be greeted by Hedj's voice, the shiny Yamask hybrid raising a hand to greet them. Just as before, items were strewn around, though one had to wonder how this hybrid got around.

"Ah, you have survived to this point. Worry not, you haven't gone backwards. I have my ways of getting around the labyrinth without becoming its newest challenger," they explained. "I'll ask that you don't think about it. Now, come, come, perhaps I can interest you in further-"

Wasting no time, Amaranth had already gathered a few Super Potions- four in all- and a Full Heal.

"Wares. I see I have my answer." Taking every Silver Token that Amaranth had as payment, he'd rub a couple of them together. It wasn't long before one of the Super Potions was sprayed on Gale's wounds, trying to heal the Pidgey a bit before they went on their way.

"Thank you... to both of you." Amaranth spoke up before going through the door, thankful for Hedj's wares and for everything Gale's done so far. Even if it hadn't gone particularly well so far.

A curious floor. The last room that Amaranth saw in the previous floor was a meadow with a berry tree while a sandstorm raged. Despite the howling sands and the occasional noises from the Pokemon in the room moving around, Amaranth would manage to get something from the tree. Was this floor real? Amaranth wondered that as she got into the next room, seeing nothing but a lone chest in the middle of the room. It was a lot nicer than what she was used to from the labyrinth at this point, but with the sandstorm subsiding, she wouldn't complain about a reprieve. This floor was the most dangerous one, after all, and the closest to wherever the Minotaur must be. "Guess I'll see what's in here..." She said to herself, kneeling down to open the chest and see what was inside.
