"Uh huh." Lin was watching Al like he was some kind of unknown specimen, fascinated by his continued efforts to shove his foot further into his mouth. "Did he say not interested too?" she inquired.

"Thank you." He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced around the kitchen awkwardly because now that was a thing that happened and hearing it out loud made it worse somehow. "Anyway. I'm Corbin. Nice meeting you?"

"I'm Lin," she said, and didn't offer her hand for a handshake because both of them had just been eating with bare hands and neither of them had washed their hands. "Nice to meet you too."

Lin considered this question. "Peanut butter sandwich," she suggested after a moment. "As long as he doesn't have peanut allergies."

"Okay. Do you want me to go with you?" Lin asked. The general impression she had gotten over the course of the conversation with Al was that he probably needed help with things more often than she did.
