He admittedly felt a little silly, saying the attack out loud, but Constantinople had already made it clear that she didn't mind him attacking her. A part of Almandine wondered whether this was really a good idea, but at the same time, he was doing something, wasn't he?

At least he wasn't draining her. Almandine tried not to think too much about it.

This proved impossible, because the only thing that Almandine ever did was think too much about everything.

He lowered his hands awkwardly as Connie stood there, looking stiff and stuck and not quite herself. Almandine frowned, then took a cautious step forward, head tilted to the side as though trying to figure out what was happening, eyes narrowed in thought. A hand rose, thumb and forefinger against Almandine's chin.

"Hm?" It took him a long moment to respond. "Oh. Yes. Senshi of Reindeer," Almandine explained. "I think it's supposed to be 'corrupted' somewhere, but that just sounds silly."

He tilted his head a little, the bells jingling.

"Does it hurt at all?"

“Senshi of Reindeer!” she gaped in excitement, feeling a little less stuck the longer she waited. It seemed as though the magic was slowly starting to wear off. “That’s so cool! No wonder why you have those cute little bells! They sound lovely,” she half smiled and half grimaced at the uncomfortable feeling of the senshi’s magic.

“A little,” she admitted when he asked her if it hurt. “It’s like getting hit with something. Maybe like antlers!” she said with an excited gasp. “Since you’re the senshi of reindeer, that would make sense, wouldn’t it? Oh, I can move a little better now,” she said as she flexed her hands and slowly began to be able to move her arms again.

“That was fun,” Connie said with a grin, and then frowned in concern at the thought of him saying he was corrupted. “That does sound silly. Why would you be called something like that?” she asked, looking a little sad now. “I don’t like it. You shouldn’t call yourself that. Senshi of Reindeer is just fine,” she said with a small, sage nod.

He did not understand her enthusiasm for his sphere, Almandine giving Connie a vaguely startled look - though for Almandine, vaguely startled was mostly just a slight widening of his hazel eyes. He glanced down at the bells, as though attempting to figure out what she meant by cute, exactly, and then back at Connie, his head tilted.

"Is it cool...?" he asked, not sarcastically, nor with any sort of malice or irritation behind the question. He did appreciate knowing, at least, the effects of his magic; it would make it easier to use now, he thought, if he ever even used it again, but that was beside the point.

Connie was wiggling her hands; Almandine had been gauging the amount of time it had taken, and now gave a little nod, the beads on his antlers swinging ever so slightly. "Why are you looking the way you are?" he asked her, instead of really answering any of her previous statements.

"Aren't you supposed to dislike us? Or something. I'm not entirely sure yet."

Connie stared at the man, feeling that billow of sadness again, although she wondered if that was why he asked her why she was looking the way she did. She cleared her throat and forced a smile with a shake of her head, finally starting to be able to move much better now.

"Am I?" she hummed softly as she smiled at him. "I don’t think I have a reason to dislike you. Should I? You helped me out already and you didn’t have to. I think that’s plenty of reason to like you, don’t you think?" she wondered, lowering her hands so she could cross her arms behind her back, rocking on the balls of her feet.

"I think you’re a nice person, Almandine. I’m glad I got to meet you, even though we’re supposed to dislike each other. And I hope I get to meet you again soon," she said, her smile widening at him because he really was quite precious with all the bells and antlers.

"If you’re supposed to dislike me, that’s okay. I don’t mind. I don’t want you in trouble if you’re not supposed to be talking to me," she quickly added, wanting him to know that he shouldn’t feel guilty for whatever he was made to do. At least not where she was involved.

She was still staring at him. Almandine stared back.

There could have been tumbleweeds passing through, but this was a city and therefore the only tumbleweeds were in Almandine's mind. He swept a few stray strands of dark hair off of his shoulder and out of his face, his head tilted slightly, contemplating the page.

"Maybe...?" he said, more of a question than an answer. He was really not good at this whole...everything. She was being nice to him, he could tell that, at least. She wasn't trying to throw punches at him or try and attack him even after he'd used his magic on her.

"I...don't think I dislike you?" said Almandine musingly, thumb and forefinger resting thoughtfully against his chin. "I don't know how all of this works. I don't really have someone that I report to - well, other than Metallia, of course, I presume - so I doubt there will be anyone to reprimand me for having a civil conversation."

He lifted his head and dropped his hand, giving a nod, the conclusion quite simple when he thought of it that way.

"So, in other words, this should all be okay."

"It’s perfectly okay," Connie nodded in agreement, smiling brightly at Almandine once he decided that it was okay for them to have a completely harmless conversation. It must be lonely for him to not really have anyone to report to, but then again, it must give him more freedom, like herself.

"I don’t have anyone to report to, either. So we’re more similar than you think, probably!" she said, reaching out to hook their arms together, pulling him gently towards the way they’d been going.

"You might be a senshi and I might be a knight, but that’s okay! It’s not really something we got to choose, right?" she pointed out with a nod, wondering if he was going to be uncomfortable about the sudden contact and prepared to pull away if necessary, but she hoped not.

"Would you still mind leading the way back to campus? I promise I won’t get lost next time," she said as she peered up at him, grinning brightly at the way his bells jingled as he moved. It was really quite lovely. Almost as lovely as making a friend.

Her smiles were confusing. He wasn't entirely sure how to take them, because they were extremely cheerful and Almandine wasn't used to extremely cheerful things, let alone extremely cheerful people who were supposed to be on the other side of things.

Connie was given a slightly startled look as she slid her arm through his, tugging him forward, but he didn't resist, Almandine falling into step beside her, the bells jingling. "Don't knights have...I don't know...leaders?" he asked, brow furrowing. "I don't know how any of the Order works."

It was true, though, that he hadn't chosen this path. He'd woken up to this, had simply appeared to this, and he wasn't even sure if he wanted it after all. Nothing extraordinary had happened to him since awakening; nothing terrible either, for that matter, but still.

Maybe it was just all a big cosmic joke.

"Of course," said Almandine musingly. "I think getting lost would be bad, plus you're a girl and shouldn't be alone in the dark."

"I don’t know," Connie shrugged. "From what I’ve seen, everyone kinda does what they want. I’m not really sure what knights are really supposed to do, but I want to help people, definitely. And I like meeting people, too. Like you!"

She let out a small laugh as he commented about her being a girl and being out in the dark, alone, would be bad. He was probably right, though. She’d already gotten herself into plenty of trouble on her own. There were a number of people who had to help her out of dangerous situations.

"Hey now, I can take care of myself," she grinned, although this was probably a huge lie and even she knew that, but at least she tried! "But thank you for escorting me. I’m sure I’ll be safer with you, anyway," Connie said with a sage nod, his arm still looped through Almandine’s as they headed back towards campus.
