Name: Vash
Age: 17 18
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Craft: Baker
Rank: Apprentice
Location: Small Cothold in Rivercrest Hold

Physical Description:
A petite thing on the shorter end of females, standing around only 5' 1" in height. She's got a fairly lean and lithe build to her with a hint of muscle from the work she does. Her hair is a little longer than medium in length, a lovely shade of cherry red in color that is typically worn up in some sort of leather tie or clip, to keep it out of the way while she's baking. Her eyes are a bright green and always welcoming.

Personality:
Vash shows a strong determination to work hard and be as helpful as possible. She wants to make her Aunt proud and show her she won't ever be anything like her mother. Though Vash doesn't know as much about her, she knows that the woman greatly disappointed her Aunt. She'll never be that kid that argues against being told to do this or that. Instead, she'll dive headfirst into her appointed task to do the best she can. It's not uncommon for her to offer others her assistance on top of her own chores. However, she's not a workaholic. It's just in her nature to help where she can which occasionally leads to her getting overburdened with work or chores. But she doesn't have it in her to tell someone it's too much, and more often then not, she'll tire herself out quickly. Her foster mother has recently been teaching the redhead to learn now to say "NO!".

While she's got a strong desire to work hard, his little redhead is a surprisingly sweet person with a big heart. She is very accepting of people and willing to make new friends. This big hearted nature is part of why she becomes protective of those she cares about. She's been that kid that everyone wanted to pick on because of being too nice. But she wouldn't let them bully her and has since grown protective of those younger than her and especially those she considers friends. She is very rarely judgmental of a person without a good reason for it. You won't see her disliking someone just because she doesn't like the way they look or fear someone because they are missing an eye and look creepy. She'll be there, creepiness and all, with a big smile and warm personality.

For as sweet as she is, Vash sometimes has a difficult time voicing her concerns. She doesn't like to make people upset nor does she like to place her own burdens on anothers shoulders. She also has a difficult time giving herself enough credit in the work she does, constantly wondering is she did enough or if she could have done more. Or perhaps done something differently to produce an even better result? This particular trait stems from her big hearted nature and being too nice. However, her Aunt always seems to notice when things are bothering the redhead and is working to get her to speak up more often. It's a work in progress, but Vash is beginning to learn how to open up to some people. This has especially become more progressive with her acquirement of a firelizard that likes to reflect her feelings and is a protective little beast.

Other:

    - Baking: She's really good at making sweet and fluffy pastries!
    - Makes you smile~ Really, she's too nice for her own good |3
    - Has a fairly decent sized brown firelizard named Fravashi that acts as her little guard hound
    - Acquired another firelizard from a wild clutch, named Storm

Born to a courtesan that was surprised to find herself with her first child, Vash was given into the care of her Aunt once old enough to leave her mother's care. Alanya did not approve of the lifestyle her younger sister had taken up and absolutely loathed the idea of a child being raised in such an environment. She felt her sister could have done so much more with her life. With many harsh words and several arguments, she finally made the foolish woman agree to allow her to raise the child as her own.

Vash doesn't know anything about her mother, if she is still alive or what she even looked like. Alanya has been the only mother she knows. And the woman put Vash to work as soon as she was old enough to hold a broom. Since the ripe young age of 3 turns, Vash has been helping her Aunt run a respectable little crafthall in a cothold situated near Rivercrest Hold. It was a crafthall that was jointly run by her Aunt and Uncle until her Uncle got sick and was unable to fight the disease. With his death, Alanya relied heavily on her children to keep things running smoothly until they were able to find a few more apprentice and journeymen of the baker and cooking craft. Vash, showing a talent and eagerness for the craft, became Alanya's apprentice. Her Aunt always held high hopes that she might one day be able to become a craftmaster like herself.

Perhaps it was this high expectation, or simply because the woman thought her niece needed someone to socialize more with - in an attempt to get her to speak up more often - Alanya gifted Vash with a firelizard egg she'd received. She'd explained a trader had been in possession and her Aunt had done some hard bargaining to negotiate a trade. Vash had tried to turn down the gift, but telling Alanya 'no' to anything was impossible. So Vash was stuck with a firelizard egg, unsure of what to do. But care for it she did and when the egg began to hatch, she found herself the proud (or possibly poor soul) bonded to a brown firelizard named Fravashi. As her Aunt had secretly hoped for, he became her little guard dog and, Vash found herself able to confide things in him.

When the unthinkable happened and Thread began to once again Fall, Vash found herself horrified yet memorized by the destruction it could cause. She found herself wishing to be able to help more than just her family run a small crafthall, but help save their home. Their entire Cothold. It was around that time that Vash found herself unexpectedly Searched. The feeling of fear mixed with her desire to see if she was worthy enough to be a defender of Pern made the girls answer immediate. She would go to Western Weyr. Her Aunt was fully supportive and wished her the best of luck. Of course she also made sure Vash remembered she always had a place to come home to as well.

White Orath
Written by Uta
Colored by ShinosBee

Origin of Name: In many other languages, ora is the name for gold. This includes Aragonese, Esperanto, Ido, Spanish, Venetian, to name a few.

Inspiration: Golden Snitch

The Golden Snitch, often called simply the Snitch, is the third and smallest ball used in Quidditch. It is a walnut-sized gold-coloured sphere with silver wings. It flies around the Quidditch field at high speeds, sometimes pausing and hovering in place. The Seeker's goal is to catch the Snitch before the other team's seeker, which is worth one-hundred and fifty points. The game can only end when the Snitch has been caught, or by mutual agreement of the two teams' Captains; the latter is very rare, however, as one team would have to lose.

The Quidditch rule also stated that only the two team's Seeker has the right to catch (or touch) the Snitch, any player other than the Seeker to do so commits a foul called a Snitchnip.

Personality: Anything you can do, Orath can do better. At least, that's what this white dragon likes to think. He wasn't born with a chip on his shoulder, but he is very aware that he is an anomaly among High Reaches folk--and you can best believe that he isn't having any of it. Orath is a terribly competitive dragon, to the point where it can and will be problematic for his rider if he's not kept in line. If his clutchmates are doing fifty wingflap exercises, he'll do twice as many, in half the time! If one of his clutchsib wants to play a game, you can bet that Orath will find a way to turn it into a win-or-lose scenario and he will be the one to win it! Orath will keep tally of his wins on everything. He not only will remember how many times he beat any of his rivals, but he'll have no problem rubbing their noses in it, either. As for losing, well, this white won't talk about that, or will come up with a way to somehow turn it into a win. Ultimately, this white just wants his hard-work and training to pay off. He wants to become something great. He wants to be more than what he is, and that means diving headfirst into work. While he might show off doing so, there's no doubting that this dragon genuinely wants to succeed.

Unfortunately, his rider will need to keep Orath in line. This dragon is known to be a bit too independent, and too outspoken for his own good. He has no trouble standing up for himself, or his rider, and will not hesitate to bare his fangs at anyone who gives them a hard time. Can't they see he's just as great as anyone else? If they wont' see, he'll make the world see instead.

Orath is also known to be a bit flighty. While he can be very focused on working hard when it comes to official orders, everything else is less priority for this white. He's known to be a bit of a flake; he'll make promises and forget to keep them; he'll make plans with one group and saunter off with another if it looks like they're having more fun. He's the sort of white who doesn't seem to make close connections but flits from one dragon to another. He's a white who likes to be entertained, and is happy to chase the next new (and shinier) thing.

Positive Traits: Hardworking, Independent, Clever
Negative Traits: Hyper-competitive, Outspoken, Flighty

Adult Size: 18'
Physical Attributes: Orath is a large dragon. He is perfectly proportioned, though he tends to have a more delicate bone structure. He has stamina long enough to almost keep up with the smallest of greens, but he often wears himself out long before he gets that far trying to outfly and out-compete his wingmates.

Additional Notes: The one time Orath has no interest in competing is during Flights. He has no interest in chasing but also tends to look down his nose at those who do participate. As far as he's concerned, everyone loses. The female never gets away and loses by getting caught; of the males, only one wins, which makes the group collectively nothing but a bunch of losers. He enjoys turning his nose up at the big-to-do.

Theme Song: Roar by Katy Perry
Egg: White & Gold Mystery Egg 16

Why Me? Vash knows that hard work will get her places, and that sort of attitude is something that Orath understands. In fact, this white wants to prove that he's just as hardworking as his rider, and will certainly try to show off just for her sake. If he can grow to be just as strong and tough as any of his clutchsibs, then he might help lessen her load, or, if nothing else, take her to new heights!

Orath is here for Vash, for always. She wants to prove herself an asset and this white will take her there; furthermore, when she finds she can't speak up, or say no, Orath will have no problem doing so for her. Nobody will step on or take advantage of her big heart while he's around! Furthermore, he will keep her secrets safe; when she is down, this white will do whatever he can to cheer her up, or at least be there for her however she needs. She is his world.

In turn, Vash will be able to help keep Orath focused and grounded. Where he's prone to being a flighty creature, she will be able to keep him in line or at least draw him back and rein him in before he crosses a line. Her protectiveness is something Orath will need during times when even his own defenses are shaken, or when even his strength fails. Together, they can do anything; together they will care and support one another. Always.

Name: Narisa
Age: 29 30
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider of Blazing Gold / Searchrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice / Vintnercraft

Physical Description:
A petite little thing, Narisa stands at about 5'2" at her fullest (with an inch or so added from the small heel of her boots). Her hair is short in length, going a little below her chin and auburn in color though it looks a deeper red at night. Light blue eyes will gaze out at you always with a smile and maybe a small hint of mischief. When Narisa smiles, it is a pretty thing that seems to brighten up her already soft and warm features. She tends to keep her appearance clean and presentable but typically spends most of her time in pants that she can easily throw a skirt over when needing to appear a little more dressed up with a nice tank top or blouse, depending on the occasion. Her riding leathers are never too far behind either.

Personality:
She's always been an ambitious woman that wanted to do her family proud. When she was younger, this was quite apparent in how she would push herself to work hard in learning the art of brewing for the vintner craft. It ran in the family, so to speak. And she had every desire to rise up in the ranks and be a skilled vintner. Until she was blindsided by a bold and passionate dragon he swayed her ambition from her home craft to the Weyr. She will work endlessly to achieve the best results she is capable of in attempt to be the inspiration some seem to see her as. Her ambition is not so strong as to make her blinded by power or desire a seat of leadership. She wants to simply use her skills and determination to assist those that she can in whatever task she's needed.

While being an ambitious and hardworking woman, Narisa is also a devoted one. Both in her love and loyalty to friends, Weyr, and a weyrmate. A trait that seems to go hand in hand with her hard working nature, she will devote herself to the task at hand while encouraging others to do so right along side her. Her devotion to her dragon and Weyr is strong and true. She'll take that extra step or go that extra mile if asked. She tries very hard not to be solely devoted to one thing or another - the exception being her dragon! This has helped her to learn how to work with her people, especially when she was a junior weyrwoman. She gave help to everyone equally, letting them know she always had time to spare for them. Her devotion has made her a stronger woman and given her strength over the turns.

If you were to ask anyone if they knew something about Narisa, you'd probably be surprised to find many people could answer this! Narisa is a very open individual, never hiding how she feels or what her opinions might be. Though this doesn't mean she won't hesitate in some instances. But this is due more to her doubting herself then not wanting to share what's on her mind. Her openness has also allowed her to grow closer to people as they feel comfortable talking with her and listening to her advice. It has also allowed her to be more outgoing and rarely shy, like when she was younger.

Even after having some turns working with her Weyr and dragon, she still suffers from self-doubt in herself. She has gone through many things over the past turns that have increased this side of her. This was especially more apparent after Thread hit them so hard. They were unprepared and lost many. A part of her feels guilty for not being able to do more of fight along side her people. Another for not paying as close attention to the old ballads and teachings. She had heard that High Reaches continued to practice the old traditions. Maybe she should have tried to encourage this? Deep down, Narisa knew it wasn't her fault and that all of Pern was caught unaware, but she still fell into a heavy self doubt session where she questioned everything she did. It has made her less confident in her ability to be a potential leader. And with the heavy hits all the Weyrs took and her choice to transfer to Western, she feels that this is the first opportunity for her to really discover what she is really capable of while not having to worry about being just a Goldrider.

Positive Trait List Ambitious, Hard working, Devoted

Negative Trait List Hesitation, Self-doubt, Lacking some confidence

Other:

    - Enjoys a good cup of wine or beer
    - Greatly enjoys listening to music (and possibly dancing)
    - Skilled at reading and writing

    H I S T O R Y_______

Born into a family of Vintnercraft folk, Narisa has grown up among the smell of the grapes and sweet scents of the brewery. Her father is a well established and higher up Journeyman that could be a Master one day but has never taken that next step up. He is happy where he's at and with the fellow vintners he works with. Starting from an early age, Narisa's father was teaching her about the different grapes and fruits specially grown for the wines, the fruits used for ciders and ales as well as the herbs to spice things up and help give their drinks that right kick.

Being too young to actually work with the alcoholic drinks (at least too young by her parents standards), Narisa has branched off and started an apprenticeship that focused on ciders. She is able to brew a few of her own ciders without the assistance of a journeyman ranked vintner. When not brewing, she is being taught how to carve the wooden stoppers and make the lipid seals for vegetables. A small section of the gardens have been marked aside for the apprentices to claim a portion of and perfect their skills in growing their ingredients.

Once she hit the age of 17, she began being schooled for the possibility of testing to be of journeywoman rank. Her father has taught her what he knows and has expectations for her to walk in his shoes. All this was met with a big smile and a fully prepared Narisa.

Then something that none of them expected. A Rider came to their Hall on Search. Narisa was chosen as a candidate. She was shocked like most candidates surely were, and could only sputter out responses as the Rider spoke to her. He even walked her out and introduced her to his dragon. A fine beast it was. Between both man and dragon, they explained what it meant to be Searched as Narisa had only heard from word of mouth what it meant. It was a big deal and she had asked for the chance to talk with her parents. Both her mother and father were hesitant to support this at first but after talking it over with the Rider, they were pleased that such good fortune had befallen their daughter. Parents smiling proudly, Narisa was soon taken to Southern Weyr where she began learning what Weyr life was like.

But fate had other plans for the vintner girl. She had not been at the Weyr long before the eggs hardening on the Sands were ready to hatch. A deep thrill of excitement and equal parts fear filled the young woman. Would she be worthy enough of finding her lifemate? She desperately wanted to believe this. To make her family proud! But her fear began to grow again once the eggs actually did begin to hatch, seeing the amazing creatures that tumbled - or in some cases, exploded - out of the shells. Narisa watched as one candidate after another was chosen by the bumbling little ones. However, all eyes seemed to remain on the Queen egg as the hatching grew closer to the end and it had yet to hatch. When it did, Narisa couldn't believe how beautiful a creature the little Queen was. There was a passionate air about her, as if she didn't feel the need to inform everyone of who she was. She knew. And that was enough. Of course, Narisa was in no way prepared for that golden beauty to turn her gaze upon her!

Your Cepheith is hungry Narisamine. Feed me.

Before she knew it, Narisa found herself staring down at a golden hatchling demanding to be fed. And thus, Narisa became a goldrider. A potential candidate to one day be a Weyrwoman. Something she never even dreamed of being possible when first coming to the Weyr. But then one fiery gold had chosen her. And Narisa had done her best to fill the overly large boots she'd been given. Some claimed she did it well. She never felt that she was doing enough. But she formed close bonds with those she met, and even found herself forming a close friendship with a bronzerider and his dragon. Set'al and Pipith were very much an anchor for the gold pair, offering support and encouragement when Narisa needed it the most.

It was several turns after the pair had made it through weyrlinghood that Cepheith had her Maiden Flight. And the winning pair was none other than Pipith and her best friend, Set'al. Things became all kinds of awkward after this, and suppressed feelings threatening to surface and make matters more confusing and complicated. But then, the bronze pair left. Narisa couldn't blame the former trader. However their departure left a loneliness in the goldrider as well as a hit to her confidence.

And when things couldn't be any more complicated, Thread returned. They had read about it over and over. Had witnessed some of the drills that were only lightly followed at other Weyrs. But like many, they had been lulled into a false sense of hope that the silvery menace was gone for good. And, like many, they suffered the consequences of this. Their Weyr was not adequately prepared. They were not adequately prepared. In the end, Cepheith suffered Threadscoring while they tried to assist in getting their wounded to safety.

When the Fall had passed, the pair was able to see the true devastation that had befallen them. And worse still, Narisa realized they had a decision to make. While she hoped that, given time and proper preparation, Southern Weyr would be ready to fully combat Thread, she could not risk her dragon again. And she feared that they might view Cepheith as nothing but a breeding machine to help repopulate the Weyr, wanting to keep her safe by taking away her freedom to fly and do what she pleased. Without the support of her best friend, Narisa wasn't sure she could persuade the Weyr against it if that was their decision. She knew her dragon would not stand for such treatment or restriction. Cepheith was a free spirit deep inside. It was a difficult decision to make, but in the end - and maybe a little courage taken from Set'al and Pipith being able to leave the Weyr prior to them - the pair opted to be transferred to Western Weyr, where Narisa felt Cepheith would be able to maintain her freedom and they could do some real good and help while not being so restricted by the color of her dragon's hide

    Quote:

    Name: Cepheith
    Age: 10 11
    Color: Gold
    Size: Average
    Physical Description:
Average in size, this golden beauty seems to mimic her own little sun! She's built solidly with a nice lithe form muscled just right. Her wing span is impressive and seems to match the rest of her nicely. There are a few scars that can be seen when in closer proximity along her golden hide from threadscores received during Threadfall.

    Personality:
Cepheith is a gold that knows her place and is comfortable in that knowledge – she doesn’t need to prove herself or impress her importance on others. This confidence is deeply rooted and powerful, making her the sort of personality that people notice. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and sees no reason not to speak to people other then Hers, it is her opinion and you have yours and as long as her opinion is recognized and respected there are no problems. However, should someone slander her or needlessly criticize/be petty, Cepheith can have an explosive temper. She is as intelligent as she is confident and often runs circles around those she argues with. Should someone keep up with quick, sharp wit, she may pursue debate simply for the entertainment and challenge. Indeed, much like a Supergiant, she can spontaneously burst into frenzied activity – be it organizing, training, moderating dragons, leading (to the point of nit picking) or mating. Her peers will have to learn to handle these sudden, intense bursts of activity and Hers will also need to learn to channel this energy constructively as when the mood strikes her, it is often applied to all aspects of her life and can be both damaging and productive.

This is most notable during her mating flights – she may be average in size but her sheer reserves of energy enables her to fly long and hard. Only those who provide a challenge for her will be allowed to catch her but beware, just because you’re close doesn’t mean she’ll accept you. Cepheith can and will tear at an unacceptable male and heavens forbid a second gold Rise – the two will surely fight to the death.

Cepheith is strong, bold, and noticed not for being flashy but for her passion. Intelligent and proud, this gold requires someone who has an equally strong personality who can keep up with or at least soften the edges of Cepheith’s passion. This dragon may get angry but she will never fall down – there’s simply too much energy and drive and presence in Cepheith to succumb to depression. The Weyr certainly had their hands full with this fearless Queen!
