"Oh, how impertinent of you, Haikyo." The bishop remarked. Taking in a deep breath, the man reaches his arm down to wrap around your neck and shoulders. For the first time you notice you've been laying on a raised slab of stone. "Oh Haikyo, you lied to me..." With a heavy sigh, the bishop places his lips against the temple of your head.

"Here I thought you were telling me the truth and all along you were weaving a story... lie... after lie..." You feel one of the Bishop's hands caress against your throat, the soft pads of his fingers running along your jugular. "Now how can I trust you? Where do the lies begin and where do they end?" A slow amount of pressure is placed against your throat, just enough to be uncomfortable but not enough to prevent breathing. "You put me in a tough scenario... how do we proceed from here? Tell me... how can we be on equal terms if you lie and I... don't." The grips tightens with enough force to crush your throat, you can feel the blood filling it as the air is choked out of you.

"You see... I told you, you would not die here, in this dungeon. That you would see a trial and petition for your freedom, but you told me you were not a shinobi." The force of the bishop's grip moves under your jaw, the pressure moving to push your head back. You can feel your neck muscles and spine protesting. "But you are a shinobi, dear Haikyo... and that means perhaps you will die in this dungeon." The Bishop releases his grasp on you and takes a step back, "Perhaps not... I did promise refreshments. And, oh! They have arrived." The sound of steps leaving and returning can be heard before the sight of a large metal jug is seen hovering over your head. "Water, yes? That is what you asked for... well all we could find was wine... You like wine, yes? I love it.." As the bishop spoke, a soft white cloth is placed over your face. Steadily, the man holds the cloth down and begins pouring the wine over it.

"Now... tell me, why are you here? Surely your village didn't send you here for the soul purpose of learning of yourself." Still smiling sweetly, the bishop removes the cloth from your face. With a frown, he stares at you before continuing, "Ah! I almost forgot... your crushed throat. That must be uncomfortable to speak with." With a gentle touch, you feel the warm, soothing waves heal your throat once again, the rawness and pain do not leave but you can speak once again.

The man continues to regard you coldly, making no move or attempt to question you. For a long moment there is silence before the man steps away. You can hear the heaviness of his boots, they don't go far before stopping and returning. In either hand is a large, sturdy chair that would normally be impossible to carry in such a leisurely way.

Setting one down, the man opens the gate of the cell and places the other down. Eyes never leaving you, the man gestures to the chair. "If you're telling the truth than there is nothing to worry about. Sit down and we'll have a discussion." If you look you notice that the chair has metal restraints built in for the head, arms and legs. The gate is still open behind the man, though his enormous size mostly blocks it. His stance is relaxed but his eyes betray the intensity of his focus on your movements.

Michio had risen his head when the footsteps returned and saw the chair, then rested his head against the wall. "I just wanted to be left alone..."

He got to his feet and walked to the chair, a defeated look on his face. Before he reached the chair, he stopped and eyed the restraints. "If this is just a discussion, why are there..."

But before he could finish his sentence, Michio was grabbed and thrown into the chair and the restraints were fastened on his arms, then his legs. The large man stood up straight, towering above him.

"What the hell?!" Michio asked, his voice raised as he struggled against the restraints. He cursed himself for the blood that flowed through his veins, for if he had not been affected with Enko's blood, he would still be strong enough to destroy the metal. Michio tried to force his blood to seep from under his fingernails, but none came. Anger at the large man's deception turned to panic as he discovered that he couldn't use his blood-based techniques.

"What is this?!"

"Just a precaution." The man says. With a heavy hand, he pushes your head back to fasten the last restraint. "It's very effective against shinobi. Dampens their ability to manipulate chakra and preform their jutsu." A gauntlet finger taps against the metal of the chair, a dinging sound ringing out from the contact.

Stepping back through the doorway, he brings the other chair to sit directly in front of you. Eyes impassive, he regards you with a measured look. "Now... this is also just a precaution." Placing both hands on your knees, he keeps a steady stare into your eyes. "You said you were cursed? Elaborate." As if to punctuate his final word, the man's hands close with a slow, powerful force. You feel the bone and ligaments of your knee pop and grind in protest until finally crumbling altogether.

Haikyo sighed as he heard the man speak--his heart immediately sinking. He was dead...he had signed his own death warrant with his own honesty. He had taken a risk--and he had flipped up the wrong side of the coin. Not much he could do otherwise. When he mentioned that Haikyo lied, kissing the side of his head, Haikyo expected himself to die from that--it might have been much kinder to be this way.

He felt the bishops hand on his neck, as he continued to speak of Haikyo's lies. Yes. He had lied. He had done so because he was a damn prisoner. He felt the breath catch as his grip tightened around his throat--his breathing becoming raspy and forced. Then, as he spoke, his voice sounded more and more vicious, until he mentioned that they could not be on even terms if Haikyo were to lie, and the priest were to--snap. The sickening pop of his windpipe breaking rang out through his entire skull--bouncing around until the sound seemed like a horrifying epiphany that would never leave him.

He coughed--or tried, though the act of coughing was impossible with the inability to breathe in any way. The man's hand moved up to his jugular as Haikyo's face began to redden with his struggle to breathe--Haikyo could not focus on the man's words. They were ringing in his ears, guttering out like a candle in the wind. They came and went in waves--as though he were on some sort of heavy drug. His face was now turning a dark burgundy--his eyes swelling, and blood vessels inside of them slowly bursting one by one, reddening the soft organs.

Then, the cloth was placed over his face, and Haikyo knew what was about to happen--the liquid was poured over it, and he was forced to feel the dampness of the wine (from what he could smell, it had to be wine) against the cloth. However, the funny thing about waterboarding is that it did not work when the person you were torturing could not breathe. They had to be breathing in order to simulate the drowning experience, but Haikyo was already drowning in his own blood, and suffocating. As he removed the cloth, he frowned down at Haikyo for a moment, saying something about his throat...and speaking. And then all of a sudden the soothing feeling spread through his neck once again and his throat shifted--the agony shooting everywhere through his body.

Every time his mouth moved he felt the pain--the excruciating pain--stabbing through his neck a million times over. The blood jutsu had already ravaged his throat. Now it had been snapped in two as well...this torture would be long and horrible. And Haikyo had learned his lesson--the truth of his life was already the end of it. Good thing he didn't mention the princess...gods...it didn't matter anymore. He was as good as dead. Now that he could breathe again, the waterboarding would be more effective, and he would feel as though drowning permanently. This would be his first true test. As a shinobi. As a man. When he could speak once more he looked up to the man, gasping for air, still his breaths deep and glutinous.

"I do not...see myself...as a shinobi. But...as I said...that's you call. Not...mine. And...I am eighteen...years old...and being held...prisoner. As well...as already...having been...viciously attacked. Why...would I want...to tell you something...that might get me killed? So yes...I lied. But I've told you...the things...that I thought...you'd kill me...for...what else do I have to lose? My village...did not send me...here...to find myself. Why the hell...would they? I came...because they told me...about the daggers. I followed my...own lead. I just...wanted...to know...who...my father...really was...but hey...keep torturing me. I've told you everything...you'll get...everything...I have to give...fear held back...the truth about...where I'm from...but I have...nothing left to fear. Worse torture--more pain--fine...I'll be your play-thing. All you want...is something to hurt...not the truth...obviously...so do your...worst." He stated, tears glistening in his eyes. He was, after all, a scared child. Though...this scared child would not give in to someone as disgusting as this man. He may cry...he may scream...he may suffer...but he was done giving anything to these monstrous people. He'd rather watch the whole ******** city burn.

Michio listened to the man describe the chair that he was being restrained in and a wave of fear flashed over his face as a cold chill ran down his spine. "That's... that's some powerful technology... how did you create something like..." and before he could finish, he was interrupted. First by words, then by agony.

The man's hands slowly crushed his knee between his hands as if it were a mud clod until the bones, muscles, ligaments, and even veins completely mashed together as if they were ingredients of a meal being ground into a thin paste. Michio began to scream from the unexpected jolts shooting from the debilitating injury.

"Ahhhh!!!! Why-hy-hy!?" he cried out, struggling and flopping in the chair like a fish, which made the pain worse because the knee was still clasped in the man's hands and Michio was effectively pulling on the clamped injury. After a few moments, he managed to force himself to quit squirming and sat still, his head hung low, his breath labored, beads of sweat pouring off of his brow in bullets

"You...." he said, then grunted before attempting again, "You said... we were going... to have... a discussion... This is NOT a discussion!"

The sounds of the approaching army would cause both the general and bishop to pause. With a pleasant smile, the bishop would leave the cell, closing the door behind him, to accompany the army. Respectively the general would exit, also closing the door behind him, to return to the upper levels of the dungeon.

Haikyo will find that the pressure on his body would ease but with it so would the acute awareness he had. Exhaustion fights to reclaim him.

Haikyo watched as the man responded to what he had said with nothing but a pleasant smile, before he left the room. Haikyo could not make heads nor tales of it, but fear permeated his entire being as he lay there, the incessant sound of pounding feet on stone like a drum within his skull. Something worse was on its way, he could feel it. Something that felt...unnatural. He knew they were there--he could hear them coming...but he felt nothing of their souls.

As the priest left, the pressure that had pinned him to the slab of stone eased off, but with it, he felt everything in his body flood back to him. His chest felt like it was caved in from the constant pressure, breathing hurt like a b***h. Swallowing hurt even more.

His throat was bent and obviously not fully repaired. The inside of it, ragged and raw from the shinobi who attacked him. The footsteps would not cease. The drumming in his head. He sat up on the slab--the movement causing his head to spin and almost topple off of the side of the table. However, he managed to gain his balance and he took a deep breath as he sat there. These footsteps approached faster and faster, and he was too exhausted to move for any period of time, let alone evade whatever was coming, or at least guarding the upper levels of the dungeons.

Haikyo pulled his legs into a cross-legged position on top of the slab of stone and he breathed deeply. His mind dissolved into nothingness--a bright blue-green light. His body fell into the most relaxed position one could attain--his muscles at total ease. Speak to your own soul. Speak to your own soul. Speak to your own soul. Come on. He cursed himself mentally, knowing he had never been able to attain such a feat...not yet. To commune with ones own soul, he had to learn. But something else clicked as the blinding light dimmed and he felt another soul--not far from him.

It seemed tormented--in great agony. When he finally got a look at the soul, as he created the telepathic link to the man, he knew immediately it was the man who had attacked him. "So, they are torturing you down here too, huh? Damn, shinobi. I pushed your drunkard a** because I thought you were a civilian and they would be lenient. Who reacts in such a savage manner to that? He snapped, the words would echo in Michio's mind. "However...I am sorry for what they have done to you. Nobody deserves the things these people have done. I am sorry I caused this mess. I did not mean to. Now...in your current state, I suppose it would serve both of us best to just...wait and see what's coming, no? They are broken, but your shinobi medics can fix that. We are going to get out of this."

Michio sat in agony as the large man had finally let go of his leg and it was only then that he let the flow of tears begin to fall. He had been injured in the past, but never this badly. Even when he was blinded in his eye, even when he had ripped an arrow out of that blinded eye, he was not in this much pain. He sobbed quietly and kept himself as still as possible, his teeth gritted to the point where if he clenched his jaw any tighter, he might start cracking teeth.

Suddenly, a voice rang out in his head which made him jerk up. Much to his regret, the abrupt movement caused his destroyed knee to shift, sending new jolts of excruciating pain through his nerves. He screamed and jumped again with enough force to topple the chair over. He landed on the corner of the back and due to his balance, it rolled until he was face down on the stone floor... resting on the destroyed knee.

He cried out again, this time with a painful strain to his voice as the sound was muffled by his face being planted in the floor. The sudden amount of pain reverberated through the telepathic link and would cause Haikyo some pain of his own. Such was the consequences of communicating with someone through their spirit.

'Who the hell pushes a drunk over anyways? I could have brittle bone disease or something, and you could have shattered every bone in my body with that push. And if I hadn't been a shinobi, you would have pushed me much further. I don't remember much before the scuffle, but I wouldn't have had to hear your screaming from down the hall to know for certain that you're no normal human. You're a shinobi too.' he thrust through the connection.

'This pain wouldn't be so damn bad if I wasn't stuck in this chair. It's stopping me from using my chakra, and if I weren't stuck here, I'd be halfway healed already. Damn these people and their technology. If I ever get out of here, I'm burning this city to the ground.'

As the connection between him and the man in other cell intensified, he could feel the body and soul of the man he was connecting himself with. As he fell over, the chair landing him face first and against his knees, Haikyo felt a drill of pain run up his legs and he ground his teeth together at the sudden feeling through his body, though he still sat motionless on the stone slab. There was very little that Haikyo could do at this point. The man had left the room, closing the door behind him. He could attempt escape, now that his body was free from the pressure, but it would do him no good in the completely exhausted state he was in. He was so incredibly frustrated by the complete lack of power he had. This entire chapter of his life would forever be turned into a driving force to get stronger. He had to.

Haikyo heard the man speak through the link, thinking back toward Haikyo in the same sort of method. "A desperate man pushes a drunk. One being chased by guards who want to take him to these s**t-hole dungeons. But...call me what you like, shinobi. I am a Yomi. The headband I have been given...to me it is not much more than a way to find my path. A way to train to use my innate skills in which my parents would not train me in." He stated. Juugou had been one of the first shinobi he had met...and Juugou had been an extremely nice child, sure, though he still had a certain distaste for shinobi. Always worried about little more than power or status. Perhaps he could change that from the inside...though he doubted it. Perhaps he would truly become like them...with his own quest for his own strength. "It sounds like there's a force coming...large...and they are not normal men. Their souls...I don't feel them. Trying to escape...I feel we have little option on that front. I have a way...to regain some of my strength at the very least. But it will take some time." He stated, maintaining the link to Michio while he also focused on his inner body--the organ he had been made aware of by Sai. He had been working on being able to cycle his chakra through it to produce more--allowing his organ to swell with additional chakra than it usually has, and then push that chakra into his body to replenish his stores.

He had, since he had been pinned down, been slowly filtering chakra--the little he had remaining to keep himself afloat--through this specialized organ in his upper back, between his shoulders. The chakra that was within this organ slowly filtered out into his body--but it was not a fast-paced recovery method. If he were able to utilize the organ to its fullest potential, he would be able to recharge himself much faster, but as it stood, this slow leak was all he was capable of. So he sat--in his meditative stance, still linked over to Michio, in case he could gain valuable information or be warned of what was coming. He could feel the warmth of his energies through his body, spreading as the chakra organ did its work, though he knew if these soldiers came any time soon, he would not have had time to make anywhere near a full recovery.

A shadow ripples suspiciously in the corner of Michio's cell. The shadow's cast is unnatural against the light that shines into the room and it's hard to remember if it was always there.

The sound of marching can be heard in the distance as the army of soldiers and the Bishop return from the lower levels of the dungeon. A badly beaten man is carried among the soldiers, no attention is regarded the two prisoners as the army marches past.

Michio frowned at the man's long winded, half-denial and half-acceptance of the shinobi title and grunted.

'If you use chakra to fight, you're a shinobi. There's no two ways about it. I've never heard of a Yomi, but it sounds like a clan or something. In that case, I am Ketsueki, as I'm sure you've guessed by now. Or not. I don't know how many of us there are, so you may have heard nothing about the clan I am a part of. But I'm sure you can guess what we can do from what my drunken a** did to your foolish a**. And yeah, there's some big army out there, but I can't see them from here. I'm kind of face first on the floor. Wait.. what's that?'

Michio's vision had shifted to the corner of his eyes, where he saw a particularly strange shadow in the corner of his cell and he cursed mentally, which Haikyo could still hear.

'There's something in here with me. And I can't do anything about it. Damn this chair!!!' he thought, then a thought came to him. 'Wait... this chair neutralizes chakra. How are you able to connect to me telepathically? You have to use chakra to do that! Maybe the chair only works as long as there's someone around to make it work!'

He tried to make blood flow from under his fingertips, but none came. 'Or not... damn these people. I'm absolutely going to set this city on fire!'

Haikyo sighed as the man pinned him under the shinobi way no matter what he said, and Haikyo shook his head. The man went on to explain what he was...though he had not idea what 'Ketsueki' was. It would seem each of them was ignorant to the other's heritage. Haikyo continued to concentrate on merely allowing his chakra reserves to slowly rebuild from his Chakra Organ--the Orasakai trademark pumping him back up as he stayed very still to make sure his soul energy would also slowly replenish as he meditated.

Haikyo could not see the other member within Michio's cell. The only thing he could see of the man was his own spirit. As the man stated that he could feel something else in the room, wondering how Haikyo was able to do this without chakra, Haikyo almost laughed. "I tried to tell you this already. My people are not meant to be shinobi. I do not use chakra to elicit my abilities, and neither do my people. We use the natural energy of the human soul--an energy entirely outside of the bounds of normal shinobi chakra. These people...they use a different form of magics as well...though they may be as ignorant as you to the energies I wield." He stated, thinking for a moment. "I am going to see if I can feel out the other presence in your cell you're talking about. Maybe it's not an enemy." Haikyo stated.

At that point, the soul link between them would be completely severed. Haikyo's eyes would snap open in his cell, having broken the link with Michio, and he took a deep breath, shaking his head of the wooziness in his body. The hunger pangs still ate away at his stomach, and his lips were cracked with their desperation for water...but his body's haggard state was slowly improving with the chakra reserves leaking into him. He closed his eyes as he sat there, re-initiating the meditative stance and attempting to feel out any other soul in Michio's room, other than Michio's--if the shadow was cast by a being with a soul--Haikyo would feel it.

You sense nothing from the shadow, it has no soul to sense.

The shadow ripples and from it emerges a bear of a man. Grinning he kneels besides Michio, his head slightly tilted. "Quite the bind you find yourself in, Benjiro. I guess I can't be too mad at you for missing our date last night. Why don't you tell me why they have you here, the full truth I don't have the patience for any lies about being a relic ********> A dagger twirls in the man's fingers, a dangerous glint flickers in his eyes. "Be quick about it so I can decide if I'm to help you out or end your misery."

Michio shifted his head as much as he could given the fact that his head was caught in a brace and pressed against the floor, but it was enough to free his lips from the stone that would have muffled his voice.

"Kalam!" he whispered, happy to see him... or at least he was until he saw that Kalam was twirling a dagger that would likely find it's way into Michio's unprotected, non-healing body.

The dark skinned man spoke, and Michio frowned when he'd called him a relic ********. "Yeah, somehow I didn't think my cover was going to last long. But if I'm going to reveal myself, it might as well be to you. See that headband over there?" He was referencing the crumpled and broken metal that lay on the outside of his cell door. "I'm a shinobi and when we left the tavern, I was so piss-drunk that I attacked someone who dared to push me. The guards surrounded me and used some kind of technology I've never seen before to keep me from using my technique against them."

"It wasn't the best decision, but not exactly one I made when I was able to make good decisions. Sorry that I missed our gathering. But damn it's good to see you."

He attempted to shift his weight to get a better look at Kalam, but all it did was make the chair dig deeper into the back of his legs. He grunted and hissed in pain. "Hey, if you decide to not slit my throat, do you think you can get me outta this thing? I've got some people I wanna kill and some buildings to burn to the ground."

Haikyo searched to feel the presence of anything else in the room, but at the end of his efforts, he was left with nothing but Michio's soul apparent to him. So, as he reconnected himself to Michio, he heard the man speaking to someone. Someone had emerged--but again, Haikyo could not sense them--this was disturbing. "Hey, Michio, who is the guy in there? You had some sort of gathering to meet him at? Can he help us...erm...would you even be willing to help me, if you could?" Haikyo wondered if the man was willing to look past their altercation. If it meant surviving this place, Haiyko didn't give two shits about what had happened.

The Chakra Organ was slowly planing out his reserves, and though he hadn't eaten or drank anything in a day, it was still much less than fatal. He would survive, though his body would still be far weaker than he would like. He needed proper rest and a meal. Water...god, he had never wanted water more. As he sat there he took a deep breath, focusing on his connection once again. "I have enough chakra restored to my body to put up a decent fight if we need it...though, for obvious reasons, it's likely smarter to avoid conflict with the giant army, at the very least." Haikyo, at this point, could only hope that Michio's acquaintance might be able to help him out of this predicament...though the people of this city, thus far, seemed far less than accommodating.
