The flight was a few hours, as most of them were when it came to traveling between regions. Dova was nothing but a champion about it though and Lafayette was colored impressed by how well on time they’d made.
They touched down on the island its lone ruin of a tower. This was his first visit to Sky Pillar come to think of it. He’d heard all the tales associated with it. Of the Draconid people and their staunch dedication to the legendary dragon known as Rayquaza. Of chosen ones and ancient epic battles that threatened to undermine humanity's existence.
Basically, every story ever told ever. He thought it was funny how pokemon were always at the center of near-catastrophic events. And here were regular people, capturing and harnessing that same energy for personal fights. He hopped off Dova once the ground was reasonably close enough, reaching a handout for Noah to crawl up his arm and to his shoulder. The Noivern hadn’t missed the fact that Noah was now, well an Oshawott and nuzzle at him curiously. The otter huffed, swatting her away.
"Leave’em be, Dova. S’long storeh," he murmured, patting the confused Noivern on the side of her head. She chirped, still very much enraptured in Noah’s change of form but resisted pestering any further. Her large ears wiggled and immediately her attention shifted to behind them. Swaying from side to side, with the most sinister of grins, was a Banette. How long had it been there? That was a good question because it certainly hadn’t been there when they landed. Lafayette spun around when she gave a startled roar, staring at the pokemon that was now giggling. Well, wasn’t it his lucky day?

"Shoot," Lafayette murmured as the ball snapped open without even the slightest of shakes and the Banette slipped away into the shadows. His plan to catch up on his pokemon catching was about to become a real struggle. The only pokeballs he had on him were the regular ones and they weren’t going to be strong enough to hold these tougher pokemon. He’d have to swing by a market if he wanted even the slightest of chances.
That sucked.
It wasn’t a total waste though. The stronger the wild pokemon, the better the workout. Even Dova, despite taking a few hits from the wayward ghost, was rearing and ready for another battle. He had to coax her in for a few spritzes of a heal potion first, which she begrudgingly accepted. The commotion of the battle before hadn’t gone unnoticed and soon a Golbat swooped from one of the tower windows and screeched in annoyance.
Noah huffed and launched himself off Lafayette’s shoulder to combat the newcomer. It seemed he’d taken a liking to bringing down these winged sky terrors. And bring them down, he did.

Damn. Lafayette felt a shiver run down his spine as the chilly winds of Noah’s blizzard faded away. There was some extra ‘oomph’ in that one that the Aussie couldn’t quite place. The Golbat had been strong enough to survive the first blast, much to the otter pokemon’s surprise, which quickly induced confusion.
Not that it lasted long. Noah was focused and managed to send the bat, in ice chunk form, right back through the window that it’d come from. Which just seemed to ruffle more feathers as another Golbat screeched and flew from the window and up into the air, narrowed look at the group. Noah puffed his chest out, ready to launch at the new opponent when a hand resting on his head startled him out of his state of bravado. "Osha?" He looked up at Lafayette who was already shaking his head.
"Let otha’s have a go, Noah. Can’ have yeh hoardin’ all the blues, a’igh’ mate?" The Aussie remarked, unleashing Ori as he did. The Luxray shook his head and gave a yawn before his gaze focused on the infuriated enemy hovering before him. The bat didn't hesitate in launching at the newly arrived feline, something it'd come to regret very quickly. Despite the few hits it'd managed to get in, it met the same painful fate via lightning as opposed to ice that the previous flyers had met.

Wishing Star: 4 / 4
Lafayette pulled another potion out for Ori as the Luxray padded over after his battle. He’d hoped that’d be the last of all this intrusive nonsense and he could get to looking for the wishing star. That’s why he’d come here in the first place after all, nice as it was to get training in. Beating up on bats all day wasn’t ideal.
The denizens of the tower didn’t seem to see it that way. In fact, all the ruckus just resulted in more ruckus and some familiar faces emerged once more to challenge the group. The Aussie gave a loud sigh of annoyance. His team could handle the nonsense, but he’d have preferred the extra hands for searching. Oh well, it was what it was. Fortunately, he had Noah, who seemed to pick up on his agitation and was already scrambling ahead to search. Lafayette followed close behind, gunning for the doorway.
Ori stood his ground. Another Golbat, that once again stood no chance, was dragged from the sky. Just at it dropped over the ridge and out of sight a shadow spun and rose behind the Luxray and got in a sneak attack of its own. Another Banette? Or the same one from before? It didn’t matter, it wouldn’t get away with that. Ori snarled and snapped at it with shadowy slashes of his own and after a struggle of a fight, took it down.
Lafayette was about to call out to the Luxray to come over to the group, intent on healing him up after his spars. He’d held his own well, something the Aussie was proud of. Before a word could escape his lips though, a cloud (was it a cloud?) hovered its way towards the electric cat and before it could go must further, Ori struck out.
Honestly, Lafayette had never seen Altaria quite that big before. He’d also never seen one felled so easily before either. It was just a cotton fluff of ice, falling to the ground with a loud boom.
Well.
"Noice one Ori," Lafayette muttered as the Luxray trotted over, giving the cat a rub on the head. Dova gave a trill from all the excitement and Ori seemed exceptionally proud of his accomplishment. The celebrations were short as Noah chirped in excitement, rushing out from the ruins with a star rock in his paw. Well, so much for helping with the looking. But honestly? It was for the better. Lafayette had had his fill of this place.
"G’job mate, let’s get out of here." He scooped the Oshawott up onto his perch, taking the star and stashing it away before returning Ori and hopping onto Dova. As she took to the sky, he tightened his grip with his legs, holding his arm with his communicator up to Noah. "Mate, hit the firs’ button fa’ me. I need ta give Jul a call," he stated firmly.
Because like hell was he spending any of his own limited funds for his pet projects.
