Cosmos’ gaze had wandered to the sky but upon Castor’s proposal her eyes slid back to him and she raised a brow. She did no take his hand but looked at him with scrutiny and question.

She did not immediately say no, but neither did she speak for a long moment.

“In another life time, that would have been a smart political move. I will give you credit for suggesting it. Unfortunately,” she said after a pause, “I do not think I can agree to your offer. I am already married. To my work,” she clarified.

“I think it would better suit you to find someone on Earth. Why not a Princess who already lives here?” she prompted. “The Senshi on Earth should already know that I will come when I can. But there are distractions in other corners of the universe, Castor. Earth has my support as often as I can provide it, but I don’t think a marriage with me would provide the hope you think it would. I am sorry, though. Truly.”

His hand closed in on itself and return to his lap. Softly, a chuckle left his lips and the prince of Hail looked at the near godlike being who sat across from him. If there was a thing such as divinity, Cosmos surely had it.

"So cruel Cosmos. At least humor a man with the truth." He huffed at her, but his smile betrayed the small mirth in it. He knew this was the likely outcome. Yet, it had been worth a try. He had to, lest the opportunity never be given ever again, lest he always wonder what if.

"Polaris is wed to her knight. Iris is loathe me and mine. And Ganymede is also wed. Leto and Ares-" he coughed, "Leto and Ares aren't into my gender last I knew. Trust me when I say I have looked at my options politically and have found myself... lacking." He sighed.
"And don't even mention Remarque. I am liberal in many things but even I have my limitations."

His wings slumped slightly, the grass shifting with a faint rustle.

"I knew it was unlikely you would agree to my request, but-" He held up his hands before they fell back to his lap. "Despite that, it was worth asking. You are very beautiful and I wouldn't mind being see on you arm. If anything, I would not be teased for looking like an old man."

He joked, even in the face of rejection.

"It is difficult now, more than ever to inspire hope in them. Not a false hope, but a true hope. A real assurance of our powers. I cannot lie to them and say that we might purify those corrupted. Too many are bitterer, unwilling." He shook his head, eye locking to the woman before him.

"They act as if purification is simple, and that the risks are not as great as they truly are. I have not forgotten your lesson." Death if he failed. Death, if they hesitated, even for a moment.

"I wish sometimes they would try to understand that there is more to worry about than just one life. One lifetime and era. Rebirth has never been a quick process."

Cosmos wore a faint smile, somewhat amused by Castor’s jokes. She was not fooled by them and reached over to rest her hand on his shoulder lightly.

“You have so many Senshi here, Castor. More will recognize their true power. They need time. Like rebirth, the realization of true power has never been a quick process. But I have faith that more will rise. Perhaps more that you have not made enemies with already.”

She offered him what might have been a playful smile and then drew her hand back to her. “What would inspire you, if you were in their shoes? If you did not have the power that you do, what would give you hope? For me…”

She was quiet for a moment. “Seeing people fighting against the Chaos, the injustice, is all I need. There are a great many things even you do not know about Chaos, about the universe. But they are well kept secrets for a reason.”

Her eyes took on a faraway look as she sifted through her thoughts. “As long as there are new Senshi awakening, I have hope. As long as there are starseeds cycling through the Cauldron, I have hope.”

That glimmer of mirth in his gaze, Castor glossed over the more deeper elements of the conversation.
"Enemies?" His hand went over his heart in mock offense, "hardly! I have done nothing of the sort to warrant their ire." It was a open faced lie they both knew, spoken in jest.

"As for inspiration- Well. Hrm." He coughed, knowing full well what his mind went to.
"I've never been truly a selfless man. I was idealistic once, but that was also back when I was sleeping around or dating two women who were actually the same woman. Now, I would say the lack of justice and the passivity would force my hand even had I not this power. Hope however is harder to define. Hope is difficult because after so long, I've grown jaded and somewhat cynical. Not pessimistic mind, but I would hesitate to place my faith in things untested and assured. I place my hope somewhat in those my youngers, who fight and understand that there is more to this war than what is one the surface. Blind idealism is no better than blind cynicism. Both are required to progress forward." He gave a shrug.

"Plus, I have a fair share of hope for those of the dark moon. Their royals both understand that while we may be opposed, we share a common enemy. Practicality is worth having stock in."

Humming to himself, he watched Cosmos a while, letting himself dwell on their words. She was not omnipotent, but, she was as close as they would have to someone with authority. Knowledge, even if given as needed, was worth seeking out and listening to even when it went against one's desires.
"A final query: How is the cauldron? I don't remember ever having been, but, I have wondered what it looks like, how it must fare. It is-" He hesitated.
"Is it peaceful, for those yet to be reborn?"

Cosmos seemed relaxed still, as much as she could be. Her gaze drifted from the stars in the sky so she could watch Castor out of the corner of her eyes. “The Cauldron is doing as well as can be expected. It is very full,” she admitted, but concern didn’t register on her face. It was a fact, not a worry. She turned her head to regard him with her full attention once more. “No one remembers their time in the Cauldron, really. It is beautiful, peaceful. All the worry, all the pain is washed away. It is like a good sleep, I think. When you wake up, you are rejuvenated. The Cauldron is beautiful, but,” she shrugged.

“I suggest, for the sake of your friends and family and everyone on Earth and in this Universe, you do your best to avoid it for the time being. Too many great losses could be detrimental for everyone. One day, the Cauldron will call you home. I will be there to protect you,” she promised. “And guide you into the next life.”

As long as Chaos didn’t prevail here, now.
