The thought was accompanied by a relieved sigh, just before the orange tomcat strolled up next to her and interrupted whatever consideration might’ve come next. Though she was inwardly a bit panicked about the idea of a pair of Mauvians coming into the custody of the Destiny City pound, outwardly she was a picture of perfect calm and triumph. She didn’t truly ever think she’d fail to rescue him but it could have been much, much more difficult to get out of the prison-style complex. Damage control in this city was a b***h, idiot handlers or not.
“Speak for yourself, you foolish brute. You’re the one getting caught by those goons in broad daylight.”
The quip was notably edged with a blade but the look on her face said she found him more amusing than not, maybe because he had followed up the taunt with an attempt at sweet talk. She cast those pale, jade eyes at him sidelong as they walked at a more leisurely pace than any since they had first met. It was always a shame to see the dark star printed across the skull of a brethren - mostly because she knew she would kill him given the necessity in battle. Enemies were enemies but..
This one owed her lunch.
“Like it all you want, tomcat, but a deal’s a deal and nothing else.” She paused their trot so she could look at him full on. “You owe me.”
