"Probably classified." he said vaguely. "Got my whole side gashed open, but someone sutured it in the field with a ******** runic dagger. Almost bled out anyway."
He exhaled. "Death is never a dull ******** division let me tell you."

"They fixed you up with a dagger? Jesus. That's the most hardcore way to fix a guy up that I've heard." He couldn't even imagine how using a knife on a bleeding would made sense.
"But I guess it worked. Seems whatever stuff you were in wanted you out bad. Did they say how long you were in for?" He had tried very hard to stop reading clipboards and didn't peek.
"Managing to bleed that much must mean you had no shield at all." And that was worrying. Melvin had only encountered that once when he was mistaken for splitting his wrists in the morgue.

"They cauterise." he said. "Enough but not enough to stop the wound I managed to get, I dunno what ******** happened though or where it came from. All I can say is the same s**t I've been saying for ages, be ******** careful cause some dodgy s**t is out there." He seemed a bit more back to normal, a bit more his old self.
"Nah, they didnae say." he said. "No too long though, Tracey's back, it's mostly just regenerating lost blood and s**t, I need to eat well, keep this drip in, I think there was a transfusion, s**t like that. I'll be awright though. Lost an absolute ******** of blood, but other than that I'm mostly intact. And nah, no shield, was just a scrawny wee human."
He put an arm behind his head, unashamedly showing off a very bushy red underarm. "So." he said. "I know I've given you no end of s**t over your relationship s**t but tell me what ******** happened, what brought you back to /my/ door?"

"I'll be extra paranoid in missions then." He assure him, aware that anything could be out to kill you or twist your reality. Any mission meant someone could not make it home, including yourself.
"If it's about eating well you might want to hide that bag I brought in." Sweets were hardly good for healing by a medical standpoint.
As Rep settled as comfortably as he could, Melvin considered why he was here. While it was a visit, it was more or less crawling back for forgiveness.
Breathing deep, he turned to very lightly lean against Rep's bed, careful not to bump him.
"You mean why I didn't come sooner or why now?"
"Guess that's kinda the same boat though."
He smoothed out a wrinkled on the bed sheet as he thought about it, what he thought about once he packed his bag and left Lawr'a house. "Scared I guess. I didn't stick around because I felt no one was on my side and willing to believe Rin could still be back. Mixed with what happened and I got lost in it all. Thought you turned your back on me by not agreeing with me. After a while, when I knew the truth if the lie and what I was doing.....I just felt...just ashamed. I didn't see what was staring st my face that everyone else saw in an instant and took such a firm stance on it. Then....when I still was with him, I knew that it would cause problems. You hate him and I wanted to be with him. You two would just fight and I just thought you'd want me to break it off. After a while felt like between that, what I did, and just time kinda sealed the deal. If I made the choice back then to stick with Lawr and not you, then that door was locked."
"But - now I'm just with nothing again. Not even a lie to hold onto and just the consequences of my actions. I thought about what I wanted now. I spent a long time not thinking about that because what he wanted felt more important. Maybe I just wanted to do right in a relationship than I had before. Better than I had done with her. Like prove something."
"I just really wanted it all back. It's stupid but - just how things were but not like what I wanted when she died. Where I ran. Back to how things were but as if I made the right choices. The one where I didn't run off."
"To the people that made my life happy.." He looked back over to Rep. "...and made such a huge part of it."

"Good, don't take risks, don't touch s**t that you don't know the origin of." and he nodded. "No one said anything about eating /well/ just eating and getting back to normal."
Listening to Melvin's recollection of what happened to bring him there just reminded him again how people always assumed they knew how he'd react to things and that everyone got it wrong. "Well, I hate him aye, but I hate a lot of people, a lot. If someone was important to you, I'd just ******** endure it." With the obvious exception of Jordan. "But I can see why you didn't think that would be the case. Because everyone thinks I'm some kind of ******** monster."
He shrugged. "But whatever. There's no going back to how things were because I'm no that person any longer, but I'm sure we can be amicable going forward."
Seeming a bit hung up on a thought he added "And look, I didn't and don't know s**t about that guy you were ******** other than that he CONSTANTLY hits on Ace. Constantly. And Ace doesn't respond by beating the s**t out of him. That's mostly why I hate him."

He didn't think Rep was a monster, but as he moved on, he just let it go with it.
"I'm surprised. Lawr seemed to hate him. When Harrison brought him from the training fields when he fainted, he threw a fit ad made Harrison seem like he was the worse person around for running a few checks on him. I didn't believe it of course because - that doesn't seem like Harrison." Though hitting on Harrison?
"Um....yeah. I'd watch out for that maybe. He says he's with Rodney only, but that could always change. It's happened plenty of times before." Case in point.
