"So she's a biter like her mom, huh?" Ujana passed a s**t eating grin Ariya's way, totally unabashed or ashamed of what she said. She relaxed her stance until she was in a comfortable crouch; low enough to be on Subira's level, but also at an angle so that she could easily see Ariya.
And see the woman she did. The alkidike had let her hair grow out, which Ujana liked, and motherhood suited her well. "Yes, really," she leaned forward and placed her lips on Subira's forehead, blowing a mini-raspberry. Perhaps it was something one shouldn't have done upon first meeting a child, but Ujana didn't care; the kid was the kid of a friend, so what was there to worry about?
When Ujana stood once again, she smoothed her hands down her hips and thighs to brush out any wrinkles in her clothes. "Actually, my hammer has nothing to do with it. I'm looking for a spot to build a tavern, and since my family lives in the area I thought this was as good a place as any to start."

Subira blinked as she watched Ujana bend down to her level. She wasn't sure what the woman was doing. Most people didn't come down to where she was unless they were going to tell her to behave or some other kind of bad news. Or at least that was how it had been so far. Usually they just picked her up. But when the leafling blew a raspberry on her forehead she giggled. It was an uncontrollable laughter that had her showing off the gap where missing teeth were supposed to be and made her hold onto her belly.
Turning to look at her mother she took a deep breath to try and stop laughing so hard. "I like her mommy!" She declared before continuing to giggle.

Her head gave a slight nod but she was watching Ujana closely now. If the woman tried to say anything more then she would be tackled to the ground by the chubby alk. There were some things that her little girl just didn't need to know. That aside she was still smiling. Ariya chuckled as Subira declared that she liked Ujana. "Mhm. I like her too little fluff." There was a wink that was given to her child before she looked back at the other woman. "Oh yeah? Well, maybe you shouldn't build one... here. What was wrong with Jauhar?" She rather liked the forests. Tale had trees, for sure, but there wasn't that many compared to Jahaur. Not to mention it was closer to Chibale. Which meant that Ariya could visit a lot more.

It warmed her heart to hear Subira's free spirited laugh and even more when she said that she liked her. She found herself reaching out to put a hand on the girl's hair subconsciously, toying with the soft dreads a bit before breaking away.
"Memories, mostly." The warrior hooked her thumbs in the loose belt about her waist and held them there. "My mother isn't there anymore and her family is scattered now, so there's no real reason for me to go back." Her original reason for coming to Tale had been to be closer to her father and sister, but the lands that had once been so familiar to her were distant. She'd been gone for so long that nothing really felt like 'home'.

As her hair was toyed with she leaned into Ujana's hand. She always did like the feel of someone playing with her dreads. However, when it stopped she frowned and gave a small "awww" but decided to go back to clinging to her mother's legs. From there she tried to follow the conversation that they were having.
"Oh nos! What happened to them all? My nana lives with us does yours?" Subira tilted her head to the side as she waited for the answer.

Ariya did much the same as Ujana had when Subira came back to clinging to her legs and put her hand on top of the girl's head. She too messed with the dreads there. Hearing the reason that her friend didn't stay in Jauhar made her lift a single brow. Memories. Well Ariya could think of one good memory there. Not that she said that out loud. Instead she focused on Tale and the other part of Ujana's family. "You mentioned your dad the last time. I take it he lives in this area?" She had never gotten to meat the man. Then again there wasn't much time to do much meeting back then.

"No, she doesn't, thank the Gods." Maybe she answered that a little too hastily, but Ujana meant every word. Her father could be a hover parent from time to time, with strict rules to follow but his mother was even worse from the stories he told.
"He does. He and my sister were traveling before we met up in Jauhar trying to find me. We had been seperated since I was a kid before that and it's been...a little awkward trying to find a rhythm." She didn't want to go into a lot of details around Subira, but her family dynamic was an odd one. Alk mixes, missing mothers, estranged family members....
"I love them both dearly, but-" She shrugged her shoulders. "Anyway, you two didn't come all this way to hear me blab. You can to see kinfa and to get feathers, right? If you wanna wait until tomorrow morning I can take you right to them."

The way she answered made Subira frown a bit more this time. Did she not like her nana? She couldn't think of a reason as to why someone wouldn't like their grandmother. Then again hers was always doting on her. Though she did notice that her mother would glare at her nana from time to time. Not that she knew why. "What's wrong with your nana?" She couldn't help the innocent question. Subira just wanted to know. "I can share my nana." She offered.

She visibly flinched as her daughter said that she would share Niesh. Ariya cleared her throat awkwardly and looked down at Subira. "No sweetie. Nana doesn't like earthlings so that wouldn't be a good idea." She looked up at Ujana just then and offered her an apologetic look. It wasn't something she really wanted to share at the moment but she didn't want her little girl to get the idea into her mind. The chubby alk looked away then, feeling odd for the truth of her family. Though as she heard some of the family history of her friend she looked back. There were questions she now wanted to ask but didn't. Obviously Ujana had stopped for a reason. So when she mentioned the morning Ariya smiled at her. "That sounds like a good idea."

"Uh, erm, well-" If Ujana were in older company she would have spilled everything that was wrong with her grandmother, but she didn't want to traumatize the kid. There was no love lost between her and the woman who had turned her father into a neurotic hermit. Well, had helped; surely her own disappearance hadn't been good on his mental health.
She didn't miss Ariya's flinch, and as sweet as the little one's offer was, Ujana was no fool. Even if Ariya hadn't said anything that reaction was enough. "It's alright. I'm a big girl now, so I don't need a nana, but nanas a good at spoiling sweet little things so I'm glad that you have yours, Subira."
At least, she'd heard that most grandmothers were like that. Who knew they could be that sweet?
"Are you staying at this inn or were you just stopping by?"

The subject of Nana's was quickly forgotten when she heard her mother answer that they could stay til morning. That meant that her new friend could take them to the kinfa! Her eyes lit up as she turned her head up to look at her mother. "We can stay?" The longer they were in Tale the better her chances were of getting some feathers for Jerami!

Ariya gave a small chuckle. At least the touchy subject had passed. So when both posed their own questions she nodded her head at Subira and looked at Ujana. "Subira has never stayed in an Inn before so I don't see why not." Hopefully that would add more excitement to their trip and keep her little one from being upset with her over the lack of feathers so far. Being a mother was hard for her. There were times when she wanted nothing more than to keep that beautiful smile on her daughter's face but then other times she had to say no to things. Thankfully this time was easy to say yes. "Are you staying here then?" She wanted to be close to the woman both for the early trip and personal reasons.

"Never?" She asked with exaggerated shock, mostly for Subira's enjoyment. "Everyone should stay in an inn at least once! You get to see all sorts of people, and some, like this one, make the best breakfast." Ujana made a slurping sound and licked her lips with a little wink to Subira. She didn't know if this one was the same as her when she'd been young, but the promise of a good meal was never lost on Ujana.
"For the moment, yeah. I didn't want to try going back home at night by myself; I'm brave, but I'm not that stupid. So, I've been staying on the second floor...second room on the right after you come up the stairs." She added the last bit innocently enough, though the implications were there.
"The room isn't that big or I'd offer to let you both bunk with me."

Subira was too busy grinning at the idea of staying at an Inn to realize there was an underlying conversation being held. Getting to see the people that passed through would be interesting. Maybe she could see another hybrid like her friend. Or her uncle. That would be cool. Then there was the promise of breakfast! The fluffy haired child seemed to perk up at that. Her love of food obviously something she got from her mother. "What kind of breakfast!? I'm hungry now." Subira looked up at her mother, doing her best to give her a set of puppy eyes. If she could swing it then she wanted to get something to eat now as well as in the morning.

"No? What is there to be afraid of at night?" Ariya wasn't native to Tale so she didn't quite know all the beasts but surely if one had a weapon then one was safe. Still, she was happy to know that Ujana was staying at the Inn as well. Ariya then looked down at her daughter and laughed when she noticed the look she was giving. "Uh-huh, I see. Well then we can get you something to eat." She patted her child on the head gently and gave her attention back to the leaf woman. Hearing about the room she was staying in she gave a smirk. Perhaps when Subira was asleep she could visit Ujana for a bit. "I'll see if there is a room available near yours." The chubby Alk then motioned toward the Inn with her free hand. "Shall we?"
