"Yeah, fear of fire, names but with different faces and meanings. It all gathers together into a new image."
The ghoul collected her belongings placing them on the couch before taking a seat on the table to be near Ferros again.
"It's something powerful indeed, it seems to feed on fear the same way you do, it has multiple talents for that matter. But that was the first time I filled it." She glanced over at it from the side. "It seemed to feed that FEAR back into me, it let me reach back and pull some of my own power back again to strike back out with it. And when it wasn't that it was just pure fear being flung about." She shifted back to Ferros, "Have you two ever seen something like that before?"

"It is all reflections, in one way or another. Maybe we are reflections too. But this is the world we always return to, so we must assume it is the real one." The tip of Ferros's tail scraped across the floorboards, twitching restlessly. "We have not seen anything like it. That is maybe why I am worried. It is like me, but not like me." Ferros hesitated, then went on. "We know that it is not healthy for Fear creatures to carry Hunter weapons, but it is not a weapon in the same way."

"I imagine they view us as reflections if they ever see a glimpse of our lives," she never really thought about what was real and what wasn't. "Makes sense though, we keep coming back here." "It's not a hunter weapon, trust me, you guys by all accounts talk a lot more, and I've seen what happens as well when Fear tries to use a weapon. I was at the Haunted house." She raised her left arm flexing the burned bone fingers. "It's something entirely new, it happened after creation which could be a bad thing in its own right."

"They do," Ferros agreed meditatively. His other found his life as strange as he found his other's life. "I do not know if others of us have strange experiences like we do. Not as often, at least." "We do not trust Creation," he said. "But you know that. That is nothing new." A soft hiss of steam. "We would not want to see you consumed."

"I think a lot of people do. When you look back on some of the memories you can see the faint slivers of others in it. I remember some of the other hunters and students from the Blue Kingdom. I wasn't awake like some of the hunters trying to save people. I was one of the ones dragged in somehow. But I know the people I saw."
Her gaze drifted towards the shield again, "Neither do I, but since it's little... fit? Outburst? Attack? Whatever you call it, I've had some rather good benefits. An apex minipet, a weapon. Questionable origins, but hey it works in my favor right?" She nodded, "And that makes 3 of us that agree on that."
Again there was a pause and Sammy decided to do some curious poking of her own, "Can you sense anything from the Mark? The one Jordan has from it. The same way you can probably taste me?"

"We remember you there," Ferros said, nodding. "We remember a lot of people there. But it is not something we talk about a lot." "If it is benefiting you, I suppose it is a good thing," he hazarded, though he still sounded doubtful. He shook his head at the question. "There is no taste to it. It is strange. When it is doing nothing, it is just a mark, like the tattoos he has."

“Yeah, likewise, but I remember it through someone else’s eyes which is what makes it strange for me even if I stand beside it.” Her eyes flickered to the golden pendant, the pulsing rune of protection burning bright in it. “I think this is honestly the first time I’ve talked about it.”
Her gaze continued to study the two artifacts before turning back to Ferros, “I have to accept it, I’m not a Hunter, and I can’t wield nor do I plan to wield a proper weapon. But this works for me, it makes me stronger to stand against what we face. It might not be safe, but that’s on me. Only me.”
The next part though caused her to blink, purple flames dancing side to side in a bit of confusion, “No taste? It leaves nothing?” She thought about it again, “Do I hate a taste then? I could feel. You. When I used the sword… but I guess the mark not having a taste makes sense since I could only feel what felt like you?”

"Like a dream," Ferros agreed. "Someone else's life, though you remember it." He studied her, and whatever he saw in her face made him nod slowly. "Be careful," he said again. "It feels like nothing. It does not feel ... separate," he said thoughtfully. "You have a taste. You taste of cold, of earth and sharpness. All the creatures and weapons we have fought have a taste, but we only remember the ones we have fought often."

The ghoul nodded in agreement, it was the most accurate statement to describe the extra memories that existed inside her. The only strange part was how real those dreams feel, a blur between her life and the other that sometimes felt like it might bleed over if she wasn’t careful.
She locked his gaze as he studied her a small smile as he warned her to be careful, that fact she was sitting in that room on the hunter island was signs she would likely only take that advice so far.
“So it’s a mark that exists, but has no benefit or draw back for now. I guess that’s good mostly? Could be a lot worse I imagine.” She settled onto the couch again grinning as her FEAR was described. “Makes sense, I was risen from the dirt, and my FEAR has a chilling effect. I like that description.” She chuckled, “Guess we’re even now that we’ve both done that.”

Some people were careful, and some people were not. Ferros tended toward the former, and he knew perfectly well that Sammy tended toward the latter. All one could do was warn, sometimes. "I would be more comfortable if it did not seem so harmless," Ferros complained. "We must not be off our guard. But it is there and we have not yet found out how to make it go away." A resigned puff of steam. His eyes dimmed, then brightened a little. "How do I taste?" he inquired, curious.

Sammy was indeed the reckless approach, she could appreciate however, the care of someone telling her to careful even if she ignored the advice ultimately.
"Yeah, I can understand, better to know the threat then always be waiting unsure if one actually exists." She moved to pick up her pendant rolling the warm gold artifact over in her hands careful not to catch herself on the pointed edges of the heart shaped piece. "Try seeking out one of the other Legacies. Excalibur helped me in a way, maybe it can help you too."
Her gaze locked with his a grin spreading over her face. "It was like, steam, a heat, this warmth I don't normally feel flooding through me. I could taste, iron? You know, not like blood, but something metal in my mouth."
She groaned, "And then I totally blew it and failed to keep it together."

"Maybe it would," Ferros conceded, thoughtful. Excalibur had its own purposes and agendas, like any other of the Legacies; but so far it had seemed to be the friendliest to other forms of life. He nodded. "That also makes sense." It was only fitting that his Fear should taste of the essence of what he was. A relaxed shrug. "That happens to us, from time to time," he said. "It is embarrassing and inconvenient, but we have survived it so far."

It seems like it cares about living. For all things. I told it what I wanted, I wanted to protect, to save both our worlds from ruin. I've seen the hunters win, I've seen the Horsemen starting to win. It never ends well. We need balance." She ran a hand through her two toned hair.
"It put a scarling and a human child before me. It asked which I needed to protect more. I said the Human. Because we are a danger to them. My self, Hunters, Horsemen. If Humanity falls we all fade."
She took a deep breath, though she didn't breath the sigh exposed just how stressful that moment had been for her.
"It found me worthy, in some way or another."
She put the artifact back on the table looking over again at Ferros proper. "It taste of the core of us, I imagine, what I felt and you felt." She chuckled a bit at the last part.
"Its more shameful when I miss, all of mine require I just hit someone," she raised her bone hand squeezing the chard fingers into a fist summoning up a meager flame that quickly went out as she shivered. "M-maybe shouldn't... do that..."

"We think so too. Humans and Fear creatures are dangers to one another, but there can be balance, and we hope there can be cooperation. More cooperation." He hesitated. "I think maybe that is why I am a weapon, to protect the humans." He mirrored her sigh, a soft puffing sound. "You are protecting in a different way." His eyes flickered in a blink as she made a flame, then shivered uncomfortably. "That is maybe not safe," he said, concerned. He tilted his head slightly, his expression going distant for a moment as he calculated in his head. Then he rose from his crouch. "I must go soon," he said. "I must bring the golem back before my time is fully up, or we will have to pay for it if it is damaged and perhaps be banned from using them for a time." He inclined his head, said softly, "And we do not like to be separate too long."

The ghoul stood up again leaning forward to place her bone hand on the golems shoulder. “I wish I could have known some of you before that choice. It doesn’t seem right from my perspective. But it’s better then what it could have been.” She hoped deep down Ferros had made the choice. To think otherwise was painful. “Yeah. A different way,” she ultimately concluded.
Still her small display of FEAR had left her exhausted and she fell back onto the couch fishing out Jordan’s iPod again, “Good point, I’ll take it easy. Promise big guy.” She started to flip through it again while he seemed to be lost in thought. She paused tucking the ipod away again to stand up her bone fist reaching out to thunk gently on his shoulder. “Get going. Last thing I wanna do is get you two in trouble.”
Moving back to the couch she dropped down and put the ear buds in for the iPod. If Ferros paused to look back where she was sitting he would see the flames in her eyes flicker away before she closed them falling into a song, strumming in the air at a guitar that wasn’t there. The only thing she could do now was wait.
