Alistair seemed to have no idea what the creature that Rowan was riding on was either. Instead, he simply freaked out as much as Rowan was freaking out from being on top of the giant creature. In all honesty, it was a frightening creature indeed, yet it was not trying to maul or attack either of them. Instead, it simply rested itself in the water as it watched Alistair lazily. It also had the perfect chance to eat Rowan, yet it did not act on that chance. Just what was going on with this fish? Why was it so friendly to him? Maybe it was Gram affecting it? Actually, that would be more than likely to backfire and get him eaten by it. So it was very confusing how this creature suddenly took quite a liking to him out of nowhere. Maybe it thought that he had caught the fish from earlier and was feeding it. Yeah, that was probably the case. It saw him as a provider of food now, and that was most likely why it was showing him such a friendly attitude. I guess that's better than being swallowed whole by this giant thing. I bet I could eat for months off of this thing alone. He thought to himself.

It was then that Alistair suddenly shouted for Rowan to get off of the creature that he was riding, informing him that he would suffer from hypothermia. At that statement, Rowan merely rubbed the back of his head with his human hand and leaned back slightly. "About that... apparently this coat protects me from the cold or something. The dragon couldn't hurt me with its ice attack. I haven't been cold at all since we got here either. I guess it's magical or something." Rowan stated, acting as if the coat was nothing special and just another piece of apparel that they had found. Why he had failed to mention this up to this point, however, was a mystery. "Anyway, I'm not cold at all, just soaked. A fire sounds good though." He stated, climbing off of the creature and swimming to the bank. Climbing onto the bank, he was helped up by the creature nudging him back onto the icy lakeside. "Thanks... I guess." Rowan muttered, unsure of how to handle their new.... frightening companion. Regardless of the situation, it certainly did match the general look of things that belonged to Rowan, scary and menacing.

It was then that a blizzard started picking up around them, flinging snow everywhere. "Just great! We can't do anything like this!" He shouted, clearly upset about the situation. He was probably going to be fine. Alistair, however, did not have the benefit of having some sort of magical coat to aid him. It was then that something strange happened. The fish that they had just met seemed to sense the danger they were in and rose up from the lake, showing just how massive its size was to Alistair. It then let out a roar like a lion towards the heavens. Upon roaring, the clouds that had gathered in the sky immediately began to disperse, revealing the moon above. It had instantly ended the blizzard just as it had began, shocking Rowan slightly. "I.... I'm not gonna question today at all. Apparently... there are fish that can control the weather now." Rowan muttered as he began to gather up supplies. He was going to make a fire, and they were going to start their camp for today. With everything crazy that happened, he needed some sort of break from it all.

As such, he quickly gathered up some wood and made a fire for the two of them. The fish seemed to be resting on the shore of the lake, its head on the ice as it stared at them like a cat begging for attention. Rowan, exasperated from everything, sat near its head and pulled out some rations to cook on the fire. He simply stroked the beast on the muzzle as he began to cook their food for the night. The first day of their adventure was actually going to end soon, and with it they gained a magic coat... and a magic fish. Just he thought of it was both depressing and hilarious at the same time. Not only that, but they found a new land and a kingdom. They had information that the kingdom of Carmillion would undoubtedly want. As such, they would gain some fame in being the first people to connect Eldrin and Carmillion with the rest of the outside world. Just the thought of it sent shivers through Rowan. This had been everything that he had dreamed about as a child, as a Knight serving Carmillion. Now, after his death, he was finally able to be the person he had always longed to be.

"You know... Alistair. Today sucked pretty bad. But.... at least I have a giant magical fish to make me feel better."

"Even if you tell me that there was a point to bringing me back, that still doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning."

Bad News! A blizzard has risen up in the mountains!

To navigate out of this blizzard, the party leader needs to roll a 15+ while all party members have to roll a 5+ (including the leader) to keep from passing out of the cold.

Anyone with resistance to cold/ice only have to roll above a 1, and anyone with immunity to cold/ice do not have to roll.

User ImageThe cold wasn't effecting him? Rowan believed that such a resistance was coming from the coat, which would make enough sense if it had been inlaid with some sort of spell or rune. The man just sighed, glad he didn't have to worry so much, but still, the thought of camp did sounds nice. As soon as he thought he could relax, however, the sky opened up, causing a blizzard. It was becoming much colder, snow being picked up from the ground, raining down from the sky. Alistair shivered. He'd been dealing with these temperatures as best he could, but he wasn't sure how he'd fair in an all-out snow storm. He was about to call out that they should find some natural form of shelter when the strange beast from the lake rose up from the ocean, revealing its massive body, before crying a loud roar into the sky. With that, the sky cracked in return, the clouds parting and storm subsiding. Alistair stared at the thing for a moment in absolute shock. Before falling back into the snow, hand on his forehead. "This is just far too ridiculous." After a moment, he pulled himself up and began setting up camp with the kid.

A new territory, a new settlement, more dragons than Alistair had ever seen in his life before, and a giant cat-faced fish that could stop precipitation. This was almost more than the man could handle in one day. Even Rowan wasn't questioning it at this point. As the kid worked on the fire, Alistair put up their tents before retreating next to the source of warmth. He hoped tomorrow wasn't as ridiculous as today. They already had so much to report back to the Kingdom, there was no way there could be much more. The man rested his head in his hands as he gazed at the dancing flames. Maybe I am too old for this... he thought to himself. With that, he stood and went to turn in for the night in his tent. Rowan's voice stopped him, however.

The lack of a nickname was surprising, and the slight hesitation before the kid spoke his actual name made him wonder if the consideration to use one was there. What the Knight said was surprising, but entertaining. Alistair chuckled a bit. "Yes, it definitely lifts the spirits. Hopefully, tomorrow won't be so unsettling."

Forgive us, forgive us. We're still trying to work the kinks out of our exploration system, so we're going to try something else that can still serve as more difficult but rewarding; however, we're looking for a method that won't cause such flabbergasting results.

That being said, let's try the double method! The party leader will roll 2d6 instead of one. The rolls will determine two outcomes in one, allowing for more variety and less jaw dropping!

Rowan, having woke up in the morning a bit earlier than Alistair, had already started packing up their leftover supplies from the night before, taking it upon himself to do the work. After all, Alistair was an old man, and he probably would take quite a while to get his own share of the work done. It was just more logical for Rowan to do most of the work. The fist had acted as Rowan's pillow throughout the night, causing the snow to cease whenever it began so that they could have a decent night's sleep. Such a creature, while being mostly useless, seemed to be benefiting them rather well since its appearance. Hopefully it would try to find a way to continue journeying with the from here on out. Was that even possible though. In fact... how did it get to the lake in the first place? Rowan was largely unaware of most geographical knowledge, so maybe there was a way it could get to different bodies of water that he just could not understand. Whatever the case, the fish obviously did not live in this icy lake for its entire life. If it had, then it would have undoubtedly been found or killed by now.

After finishing packing their supplies, Rowan turned towards Alistair and spoke to him, loudly if he had yet to wake up. "Let's get going. I want to get as much ground covered as we did yesterday. Maybe we might even find another interesting place." He stated, wondering if they might come across new lands once again. It was not implausible, yet it was probably unlikely they would discover anything new. After all, they had just come across this new place. If they did, however, the information would undoubtedly be incredibly valuable. They would undoubtedly be paid quite a bit of money for the discovery of this new land by their home country. If they found two, however, then there would much a much more prosperous reward for the two of them. "I think I might prefer traveling with the old man. At least he doesn't talk back to me and throw around childish ideals." He muttered to himself, staring out into the distance. The dragons had passed overhead yesterday and they managed to stay safe. Now, however, they were about to adventure out into the world once again.

It was not more than twenty minutes into their journey when they were met with their first confrontation for the day. A dagger had flown from the side of a mountain, tipped with poison, towards Rowan. Rowan, catching the glint moments before it reached him, picked up his demonic arm and used his hand to block it, the dagger bouncing off of it with a loud "clink." From the side of the mountain, Rowan caught sight of what appeared to be a fox-tailed individual running along a path. "Oh no you don't. You made a big mistake trying to fight me!" Rowan shouted, beginning to run towards the mountain to apprehend this assassin. Whoever he was, he had tried to take Rowan's life. Alistair probably had a better shot at getting the man, however, considering the type of weapon he used. Rowan, however, still started pursuing the man nonetheless. Who knows, he could end up leading them to somewhere rather interesting. It would be great to find something more than a coat or a fish for once. Worst case scenario, they end up back at the dragon din.

Congratulations! You got a new lead; however, you're facing a Very Low-Level Encounter!

From seemingly nowhere, a humanoid assassin springs from the snow. If it's to be defeated, there's a note in it's pocket. When found, you'll receive a +1 to both your dice next turn.

User ImageAlistair was a little groggy that morning concerning the events of the day before. Quite a bit had happened, and some of what had was a little...over-the-top. He'd hoped today would be fruitful while not crazy. Waking up only a few minutes after Rowan again, stirring before hearing his travelling companions words. The man stretched before getting up. "Hopefully with less dragons," Alistair murmured under his breath. He agreed, though, they did get a lot done the day before. It'd be interesting if they were able to get a good amount explored, especially in this new area. Alistair got out of his tent and began helping with packing up. Once they finished, it was once again time to move out.

They hadn't made much ground before the dagger flew out toward Rowan. "Watch yourself," Alistair called to the kid. He'd caught sight of it a little too late to react much better than that. Luckily, he was capable enough to block the weapon with his hand. The action made Alistair wonder how tough Gram was, but that wasn't necessarily important right now. Following the path of the dagger, the man caught sight of a humanoid creature with a fluffy tail as it turned to retreat. Rowan began to move after them, but there was a quicker way to handle this. He took both his chakrams and flung them, one after another, at the enemy. The attacks weren't meant to be lethal. One clipped the creature's cloak before sticking into a boulder, pinning the person there while the other stuck in its shoulder. Trapped and wounded, it wouldn't be going anywhere, perfect for questioning. Why, exactly, were they attacking them? Alistair was curious. Whether or not he had decent information would determine whether or not it lived.

Thanks to Alistair, the two of them managed to catch up to the would-be assassin. The old man had some moves, Rowan had to admit that. Throwing those chakram that distance was what gave them this opportunity to question the.... not man? Upon approaching the assassin, Rowan quickly realized that it was a woman that had tried to kill the two of them. Doesn't matter. I don't take too kindly to being attacked by people, regardless of their gender. Rowan thought to himself, trying to figure out how he was going to get whatever information he needed out of this person. Torture was a good option, but first they needed to search the person for clues. As such, he quickly began to rummage through her pockets before she had a chance to get her thoughts sorted. He was rewarded with the discovery of a piece of paper that seemed to be a crudely drawn map. Had she drawn it? If she did, then she had pretty terrible artistic skills. Then again, did she need to have any other skills if she was able to throw a dagger from the mountainside and nearly hit Rowan. Whatever the case was, this piece of paper would be very helpful to them.

Noticing the snow covering the woman's clothes, Rowan could only guess she had been hiding in the snow to ambush any nearby travelers that happened to come by. Putting this out of mind, he quickly grabbed the person by the hair and started interrogating them about the piece of paper. Soon, he found out that it was a poorly drawn map to a hideout that might have some decent loot. Essentially, it was a bandit hideout. "Well, then, that's pretty helpful. Thank you for answering our questions." Rowan stated, looking towards Alistair for a moment before turning his attention back towards the humanoid with the fox tail. "I hope you learned your lesson." He stated, beginning to walk off. He quickly opened up the piece of paper the woman had used as a map and began observing it. With this, they might actually be able to make their trip worthwhile. It was honestly a bit exciting. Who knew what sort of treasures they might find if they successfully invaded a bandit camp without being seen. They could bring back all sorts of treasure if that was the case. Plus, if they wiped out the bandits, then they might be regarded as local heroes, which would put their kingdom in good graces with the kingdom here.

Following the path that was drawn on the map, Rowan was immediately rewarded with a bag of gold that happened to be lying in the snow. It had undoubtedly fallen from one of the bandits' hauls as they carried their loot to their hideout. "Let's see how much it is." Rowan muttered, opening up the bag and finding twenty, shining pieces of gold clinking around in the bag. "Not too bad. I guess hanging around Trinities nets you the same rewards in the long-run." He muttered, placing the gold in the pocket of his coat as he turned back towards Alistair. "We might be in for a bit of a fight if we're unlucky. Hopefully that won't happen though. I kind of want to just get some treasure and get out without too much difficulty. I still think it'd be beneficial if we wiped them out though. It would definitely put us, and maybe even Carmillion, in good graces with this kingdom. And if we do that, that means more rewards from both countries for being good representatives." Rowan began, explaining his thought process behind their current journey. He was obviously itching to fight something other than a dragon as well, wanting to test his skills.

While looking for the bandit camp, Rowan stumbled across some strange tracks in the ground. It looked like lines had been dragged into it, along with many pairs of feed that had run into the snow. It was... strange to say the least. Curious, he decided to move off the path for a bit to see what was at the end of these tracks. Maybe it had been the bandits' cart or something similar. Either way, he was going to find out where they led and hopefully gain something from it. Unfortunately, all he was met with at the end of his journey was a very strange sight for him. Creatures he had never seen before in his life were fighting each other to the death. One was a giant, icy snake that seemed to tower above the other two creature, striking at them in the blink of an eye. The other two, however, caught his attention due to how familiar yet foreign they seemed. They were definitely dire bears, yet they seemed to be as white as snow. Just what kind of bears were they? Everything in this region seemed to be strange and new, completely different from the creatures in their homeland.

After a few minutes of watching whatever fight was playing out before him, Rowan decided that maybe it would be best to interrupt this little squabble. After all, that snake's hide would probably fetch a good price and it was, in fact, edible. That was more than he could say for the fish that decided it wanted to be best friends with him. If he was lucky, the bears might make for good material too. That meant more money for him. As such, he charged forward towards the creature attacking the bears. It quickly caught sight of him and lunged at him. What it bit, however, was the ground, and Rowan quickly jumped onto its head to get a better angle to fight it. The creature, in response, began tossing its head back and forth to try and shake him off of it. Rowan, in response, merely lifted his blade and dug it deep into the creatures skull, killing the snake almost instantly. A creature like this was nothing to Knights, especially when it was already exhausted from whatever fight that it was having before. With a thud, the creature crashed down into the snow before the bears, Rowan rolling with it to get back up on his feet.

What he was met with, however, was what he could only assume to be some form of gratitude as one of the bears simply latched onto him and hugged him. He was easily moved side to side as the bear attached itself to him and would not let go, letting out a thankful barking noise that reminded him of the bears in the forest. This thing, however, was gigantic as well, towering over him as it hugged him and stood on two legs. Eventually, however, it backed off and came to rest on all fours, being as tall as he was in that state. It was shocking to see the massive creature, and it was also beautiful as well. It was as white as snow, much like the jacket that he was wearing. During the commotion, however, its companion had run off and abandoned it. This bear, however, did not seem to be wanting to leave anytime soon. Rowan, with a slight groan, simply began to skin the snake that he had killed. "Let's just... get this thing carved up Alistair. I really just want to get this done with and get back on the road." He stated to the other Knight, kneeling down and beginning the long process of procuring their food and some income.

User ImageAlistair was rather surprised to find that their initial attacker was a woman, but he wasn't one to discriminate, either. No matter who, an attack on him or the younger Knight would not be easily forgiven. Luckily, young woman was nice enough to give them information with only minor coaxing. The white-haired man wasn't one for torture, so if it had come to that, he'd been displeased. When Rowan had glanced over to him, his lip twitched into a brief smile. Alistair first removed his chakram from her shoulder before the boulder. It would be unfortunate if she'd taken off with one of them. She gave a little whimper as the blades passed back through her skin, and the man turned his attention to her. "Pick your poisons, kid." Alistair winked before the woman's eyes widened and she took off.

Catching back up with Rowan, Alistair had yet to see the map the young man was following. The bag of gold was certainly a lucky find. The kid murmured something about "Trinities" and "rewards." Alistair found it rather humorous. He'd been blaming all their crazy fortune on Rowan. "Agreed. I'd rather not be dragged into a fight, but if that be the case, then it'd be ideal to either render their operation incapable or if we must, take them out entirely. Didn't expect to accomplish this much on the outing, to be honest."

Just as he thought the day was going to be normal, the surprises began again. After following some tracks, the two men found themselves stumbling upon the strangest scene. Two white dire bears were taking on a massive serpent that took the appearance of ice. Alistair narrowed his eyes at the situation. If this was going to be a gateway to how their day was going to proceed, the man wanted no part of it. Only a few hours awake, and things were already getting a little weird. After a moment, the man shrugged, deciding that the white pelts would probably make a decent enough penny. Before, he moved, however, Rowan blasted ahead of him, attacking the icy serpent. Alistair couldn't help but chuckle at the kid's decision, differing from his own. Once the snake was defeated, however...it began.

The white bear stood on its hind legs before it started clinging to Rowan. At first, he thought it was attacking the poor kid, and Alistair had ran forward to change the situation, but as he approached, the true intention of the creature was revealed. It was full of gratitude, embracing the young Knight, not attacking him. His eyes widened for a moment before he let out an exasperated sigh. When the creature finally let go of the boy, Alistair spoke. "How is it you attract the attention of such strange creatures?" With that, he began aiding Rowan with the butchering of the snake, the white dire bear simply stood by as they did so. Alistair couldn't help his gray eyes from randomly wandering toward the massive animal.

It seemed like Rowan had a much better plan for their new traveling companion. After about twenty minutes of prepping, he had finally managed to strap their supplies to the large bear that decided to travel with them and was now riding on its back, navigating with the map as best he could. "This is definitely pretty convenient, even though it's also pretty weird. You're right though, I don't know why these things keep clinging to me. First it was the dog at home, then that fish, and now this bear. I'm pretty sure it can't get any weirder though." Rowan stated, stating for the first time that the pup Alistair was petting back at Blake's home was actually Rowan's. It did not seem like something Rowan would keep around, and it was actually mostly Blake's decision to keep the mutt. Rowan did not show it any attention, nor did he try and hurt it. In short, he was entirely neutral to it and acted like it did not exist. Even if the dog managed to be something interesting when it grew up, he would probably try his best to keep his attention away from it. Creatures that beg for attention often irritated him.

After a while, however, he slowly came to realize that the two of them were getting more and more lost. Apparently the map the woman had drawn was a lot cruder than he thought it was. With a sigh, he turned his attention towards Alistair. "All we get is bad luck and weird events. It's like the world is trying its best to create some weird, folklore legend out of us." Rowan stated, remembering the immediate appearance of the dragon and the nickname he was immediately branded with by the group of soldiers. What an unfortunate turn of events for the two of them. Soon, however, he came across some tracks that seemed to lead further into the mountains. Curious, he rode the bear a little further and came across a tree that seemed as if was dying. "A dead tree. I'm surprised one could even grow in the first place in this winter wonderland. Maybe this place wasn't always covered in snow like this." Rowan muttered to Alistair, largely unaware that there were certain trees that actually thrived in cold environments. After all, they had lived in a kingdom that was governed by seasons and only had trees that thrived during the spring and summer.

His attention, however, was drawn away from it by the hissing of a bunch of snakes. Looking up, he noticed several different snakes crawling around the branches of the tree and inside it. His earlier encounter with a snake made him less friendly towards the creatures, but they seemed to drop down on him and coil around him in... a not so threatening way? None of them seemed to be willing to attack him, which was odd to him. Why were they being friendly to him!? How could so many different creatures of different origin possible come to enjoy his company this much!? All of this was beginning to become a little bit frustrating. After having immediately found the polar bear and gaining its companionship, these snakes were trying to come along on his journey as well. What was worse is the fact that it was completely different from yesterday where all wildlife except dragons and spiders were actively avoiding him. Maybe he should live in this snow area. It seemed as if the animals here had a more friendly disposition towards him and he had way better luck. That was especially so considering the giant magical fish that ended rain storms.

After a while, the snakes eventually dropped off of his body and slithered back towards the tree, having gained enough attention for the day, luckily. What an odd group of creatures. He had expected them all to try and follow him like the others. It was a relief. One, however, remained wrapped around his coat arm, the one covering Gram. Looking at it, Rowan realized that it was happening yet again. Another creature was trying to tag along with him for good. A sigh escaped from Rowan as he turned his attention towards Alistair. "Let's get going before any more of these things start trying to tag along with us..." Rowan stated, getting the bear to start walking in a direction based on the map. Hopefully they would not get lost again.

A good annnd not-so-good roll!

For a moment or two, you end up getting lost. The map you'd been looking at was created so haphazardly that it's difficult to tell trail from landmark, but as you begin wandering, you spy some animal tracks! Following them will lead you to a decayed tree, far past any sort of retribution. In it are a group of five white snakes.

These are Yato-no-Kami, god snakes that are known to bring immense bad luck or even death~ Ignoring them will give you a -1 to the rolls on your next turn. Killing them will give you a -2. Perhaps they'll grant you a +1 if you make friends.

After traversing the mountains for quite a while, Rowan was beginning to feel as if they were going to gain nothing from this trip but more mouths to feed. If that was the case, then what was the point in coming to this new land at all? Everything they found was simply new animals that they had never seen before. Additionally, if they brought these creatures to Carmillion, then they would gain quite a bit of attention from the residents of the kingdom. Such foreign creatures were rather unheard of, and they would be the first ones to have such creatures within their kingdoms boundaries. Just what sort of situation did that put the two of them in was the question. Rowan was used to getting quite a bit of attention, particularly the negative kind, but what would happen when he rode into town on a giant white bear the likes no one had ever seen before. Above all, however, was the giant fish that he sometimes caught out of the corner of his eyes, popping up quickly from a nearby lake or pond as they continued their journey. It was definitely following them now, despite Rowan having no idea how.

After a while of traveling, the four of them came across a most unusual sight. Zombie goblins, creatures Rowan had never seen before, walking around an abandoned camp of sorts. Seeing as how zombies were mostly mindless beings of necromancy, he could only assume that the camp had been the bandits that they were tracking down this entire time, the goblins having mauled them and eaten them. Rowan sighed very audibly at this, disappointed that he would have to fight such.... mindless creatures. Zombies were sort of a specialty, and that was probably the case for Alistair as well. After all, when you are the Knight of a necromancer, you sort of learn all the weaknesses associated with the main creatures your Mage works with. "I think this place is just trying to irritate us at this point. First dragons, now zombies. It's like it doesn't want to give us a real challenge. The only mildly dangerous thing we've fought was the giant snake, and even it wasn't that strong. This bear could rip apart those goblins." Rowan state, looking down at the snowy-white bear that he was riding. Whatever the case was, he was going to take out these creatures before they killed any more travelers. Besides, the camp might have something interesting in it.

Rowan stood atop the bear for a second before launching himself through the air, coming down and slicing one of the legs of the goblins off as he rolled by, getting their attention away from the other two. Most of them turned his way, the one he had cut the leg off of simply landing on the ground and giving out muffled noises from the snow. Soon, however, it started crawling towards him as well. Suddenly, one of the zombies let out a cry as it was snatched into the air and tossed around like a rag-doll. Finally, it was spun around and slung what seemed to be a good ten yards away from the looks of it. What was standing there was the polar bear, the ferocity and anger of the bears back home finally showing its face. Rowan simply smirked at this and picked up his sword, fighting two of the other goblins. He managed to killed one of the goblins before his polar bear came by and snatched up the one on the ground, savagely throwing it around until it was in pieces. Rowan made sure to leave two of the goblins up to Alistair as well, to save some time.

"Even if you tell me that there was a point to bringing me back, that still doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning."
