Jada couldn't stop her laugh at Auguste's sheepish expression, shaking her head in answer to his words. "No," she said with a tongue-in-cheek grin; "It isn't your fault. We just have to find a time to go by a shelter." Jada didn't support the idea puppy mills, even if they could afford any pure-bred little rascal they wished; their Cat-stor was adopted, so their future Pup-llux could be too. Violet eyes watched the twins like a hawk, watching two little blonde heads bob up and down in response to his wagging finger and mock-stern expression, and Jada chewed on her lower lip to hide her laugh. Well, that may not work on her irrepressible younglings, but perhaps whatever responsibility he chucked at them for the dog itself would. "Paris is lovely," Jada said with a smile. "Fashion week there was one of my favorite times to go, but the city always seemed so busy and alive." The Snowperson base was done, and Auguste had a middle, so... "Giulia, Aidan, I don't think we need any more snow darlings, come help us out our Snowperson together!" She shifted, giving Auguste a smile. If it was tinged with a little sadness, she would never confirm it. "It's good to be able to pursue what you want. To have the talent, drive, and opportunity is an incredible gift." The arts were not a patient career. They demanded a lot. Tilting her head, she said mildly, "You will need to tell me more about your studio, and the show." Jada did so love supporting causes, however minor. "I enjoy watching dancing, and if it's for a good cause, how could I deny myself the pleasure?"

"Shelters are always the way to go," said Auguste encouragingly, beaming a smile at Jada. "Pet stores are good sometimes, it's where I got Pasha from. But she was rather more of an impulse buy, otherwise I would have gone to a shelter to get one."
His gaze flickered towards the two children, Auguste's expression softening as he watched them play. "I've never been to the fashion week, admittedly," he said with a laugh. "But it sounds wonderful, truly. I do love Paris, even if I haven't been back in quite some time."
Mostly because of his parents, but he wasn't about to go there. Auguste patted a heap of snow closer together, pushing it into a pile. "Thank you, I do love dancing. As for telling you more - if you'd like to come, it's next week, on Saturday at seven. All of you are welcome to attend," he added, with a glance at the two children as well, Auguste's eyes sparkling with pleasure.
"It's open to the public, at the little studio off of fifth street."

"I've heard the Destiny City shelters are very good about ensuring the animals are properly spayed and neutered, and healthy. So I'm avoiding the pet shops until we have our new family member. We can pick up supplies there, once I don't have to worry about the twins deciding they need a thousand puppies." she cast him a look, watching his face soften, and then smiling down at the snow. "Paris Fashion week is February 28th through March 8th. If you take a look at the show lineup, I can see about getting you some highlights," she offered after a moment. "I'll also be going to the New York shows, and possibly checking out a show in London. You're being so kind about helping with the dog thing, and we're practically strangers; I can at least do that much for you." she gave him a bright-eyed smile. Giulia and Aidan were running closer, and the blonde girl hurled a snowball at her mother-figure and the pretty young man she was helping build a snowperson. "I want to watch you dance!" she exclaimed, and then did a spin. "I can dance, see?" She was the most graceless top, spinning around exuberantly. "I guess we'll be coming to see you next Saturday, then," Jada said with humor, watching Giulia spin. "I may even be able to keep her in her seat." "Look, Auguste, I'm a ballerina too!" Giulia declared loudly, doing a bow and almost tripping into the snowperson. "Are we almost done with the snowperson? Is his middle nice and tight?"

"They are," said Auguste amicably. "And I'm very much a fan of shelters, there are too many animals without homes. I would adopt more, but I think my roommate might not be so happy," he added, a little sheepishly, as he thought of Nadia. "But maybe one day, when I'm on my own, I'll get more."
That probably wouldn't happen for some time. He liked living with Nadia, and he adored not just her, but their whole little group of friends. Auguste blinked up at Jada, slightly taken aback by the kindness of her offer, and he quickly waved a hand, the other still pressing the snow into place.
"Oh, that's very thoughtful of you, please don't feel indebted or anything," he said. "It's a very lovely thought, though."
He glanced over at Giulia, Auguste's smile melting into something softer. "You can dance, yes!" he said, clapping both hands together now. "You dance lovely, I can tell you'll be wonderful in the future. And yes, it looks like you have made everything very well, are you ready to put the head on our snowperson?"

It always seemed to be a one day. At least Jada wasn't the only one who found it so, and she looked down at the small little snowball in her hands. "It's really not a problem," she said simply. "I go to fashion week every year. I used to go to all of the major shows in Paris, Milan, London and New York, but I've been cutting back so I don't have to spend as much time apart from the twins. It isn't like I'm offering to buy your ticket." her mouth quirked. "Just let me know if you change your mind." Jada pushed no further, however, turning her attention to the twins. Giulia was quite pleased by Auguste's praise, and her laughter was bright and loud as she bowed. "I'll practice, when I remember!" she promised cheerfully. "On with his head!" she scampered closer, happily invading Auguste's personal space. "You've got to do it right, okay? You've got to squish the head on good and tight, or it might fall off!" A headless snowperson would be awful!

One day was all Auguste could think about sometimes. He knew it was a far off dream, but he couldn't help it; there was not a great deal in life that he knew for certain, other than his desire to stay with Nadia, Colin, and Lorne for as long as he could.
"I will," he promised Jada now. "Thank you."
She was very kind, for a single mother. Sister. Auguste smiled at Giulia, crouching low again to reach her level. "I think if you practice, you will be magnifique," he said brightly. "And yes, you've got to do it right, I think you've got it, here - "
He held out his hands with the head held between them, extending it towards Giulia.
"If you hold onto this, I'll help you place it on top."

Giulia beamed up at Auguste. She knew she would be magnifique, but his kindness certainly grove it home, and she flailed into his arms with a giggle. Time for hugs! He had held out the head, but she wanted hugs, while he couldn't struggle. Jada took the snow-head from his hands with a raised eyebrow. "I think you have a tiny growth, Auguste." Giulis grumbled from where she was attached to the pale person, and glared at her mother-figure. "I'll hold onto the head," she agreed, and then clung to Auguste for a few more moments, examining the snowperson. "Do we have carrots?" she released her grip on the dancer slowly, holding out her hands for the snow-head. "We need carrots for a nose."

Auguste let out a small squeak of surprise as Giulia flung herself at him, but it turned into a delighted laugh even as Jada was plucking the snowperson head from his hands. He patted the little girl's shoulders, then wrapped his arms more fully around her, squeezing her tightly and playfully.
"I think I do," he said, beaming up at Jada. "A very sweet, tiny growth."
He did not actually have carrots, Auguste looking at the snowperson with a slightly dejected expression on his face. "Oh, are we supposed to?" he said worriedly, looking from sister to sister and then to brother and then back to sister again. "I didn't know..."
His eyes scanned their surroundings.
"Er....will a stick work? Or maybe, um..."

Hugs were great, and Jada leaned out to ruffle Aidan's hair, keeping an eye on Giulia and her new acquisition. "I'm going to have to keep an eye on her or she is going to kidnap you," Jada said dryly. "You should be wary of it. She's sneaky." Giulia patted him on the head about the carrots, giving a little sigh. "Well, we already knew you didn't know how to build a snowperson," the child said magnanimously, "so we'll forgive you just this once. We need the sticks for arms though..." she chewed on her lip, considering. What were their options? Running over to Jada's purse, almost dropping the snow-person-head in her excitement. "Mama, do you still have that orange highlighter?" "No?" Where was- oh, dear. It was okay, though; Giulia instead pulled out Jada's lipstick. "We'll draw the nose! It will be red! Frost-bitten!" It was a terribly clever idea, and Giulia pranced her way back to Auguste, deus ex machina obtained. "Sticks for arms, a lipstick nose, what about a mouth?"

Auguste let out a small sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was to disappoint Giulia and Aidan, and it showed on his face - as everything tended to do - his expression shifting from worried to relieved all within a few seconds of learning he had not, in fact, completely messed up.
"Sticks for arms," said Auguste, as Giulia rummaged in Jada's purse and came back with the lipstick. "And, er...as for a mouth..."
He thought for a moment, then snapped his gloved fingers together.
"Here," said Auguste hastily, digging into his pocket. He pulled out a small tin container of round, bright green mints, offering them to the two children in front of him, his broad smile stretching across pale, freckled cheeks.
"Will these work? They're not much, but you could put them in a line to make them into a smiley face."

Wrapped up as Giulia was in the idea of her own cleverness and the excitement of the moment, she completely missed Auguste's clear relief. She was, after all, still a very excitable child. Unlike Aidan, who nestled quietly next to his guardian and peered out from her side, smiling slightly. "Sticks, stiiicks," Giulia sang, off-tune, "And a lipstick nose, and two eyes made out of... snow?" and as for a- oh. Oh!!!!!!! Giulia stared at Auguste and his tin of beautiful, wonderful mints. "You are so smart," she gasped, tiny body beginning to vibrate with excitement. "Auguste that is a great idea. Our snowperson is going to have the most awesome mouth!" She flung herself at him with a childish screech, entire body shaking with excitement. She was so excited... that she began to cry. All that feeling had to go somewhere. "Our snowman is gonna be so perfect," she said tearily, "the best snowman."

"Perfect," Auguste declared, as everything began to be put into place. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and he cast an amused glance over at Jada before helping Giulia place all of the mints carefully where they were supposed to go. He'd never built anything like this in his life.
Oh - except - oh, she was crying. Auguste stared at her, then hastily dropped down and reached towards her, wrapping his arms around Giulia's small frame and giving her a gentle embrace.
"It's all right!" he told her, as he leaned back, taking both of her hands in his and smiling up at her. "It's going to be beautiful, just like you, right? It will be the best snowman ever."

Auguste knelt, wrapping his arms around her, and Giulia cried happily into him. "We made such a pretty snowperson," she told him, trying not to snot onto him. "It's the best snowperson. Notre Personne de Neige va être la plus belle d'entre elles, Auguste." How could she not find it the best thing? " Je n'ai jamais construit une personne aussi parfaite neige, même si elles n'ont pas de bras et ils sont absents leur nez de carotte." Jada sighed; Giulia was babbling in french, and the Nanny wasn't here to translate, and while her french was somewhat rough, she knew enough to know Giulia was beginning to gush about the snowman and something about a carrot. At least he would understand her- sometimes Jada had trouble when the other starting emotional-babbling. Giulia blinked watery blue eyes up at Auguste, bright and puffy as he took her hands. Beautiful, like her? When he was so pretty himself? She sniffled, shaking her head. "It's white, like your hair, and had green eyes like your eyes." tiny hands touched his cheeks. "Our snow-person looks like you, Auguste."

He patted her shoulders gently, the French rolling through his ears like hot cocoa, making Auguste's heart lift with the happiness of it. It was such a simple thing; not even something that should have been a big deal, making a snowman, but it was important to him and to Giulia, and he felt the sweetness of the moment settling in him, soothing something that he hadn't known was painful until now.
"Notre bonhomme de neige est charmant et vous êtes belle, et tout va bien," Auguste said in response, a smile on his face. He tugged his sleeve over his hand and lifted it, very carefully wiping away the tears that were tracking down Giulia's pale, flushed cheeks. "Ne pleure pas, c'est bon."
Her assessment made him laugh, Auguste flashing a look back at Jada, and then to Giulia once more, the beaming pleasure of her childish compliment making his spirits lift even further than they already had.
"That is a very nice compliment, thank you," he said. "I am very glad that I was able to make it with you."

Auguste passed Jada another look, and she rose, joining him and Giulia closer to the snow-person, Aidan still tucked in close to her side. "Giulia, darling, let's go ahead and finish up the snow-person." Extrication of the six year old from her new friend was a delicately done task, with Jada carefully placing two mints for eyes. Giulia sniffed, patting Auguste's handsome cheeks one last time as she sniffled herself back into some semblance of composure. "Of course." her chin tilted again, and she added, "I couldn't leave you to build the snow-person by yourself, after all. You weren't packing the snow right." she sniffled, hands rubbing over her damp cheeks. Auguste was lovey, and kind, and had a puppy, and she was very glad she had come to spend time with him today. Helping him was the best idea. Giulia poked at the mouth with furrowed brow, making sure everything was perfect, and then smearing Jada's lipstick on the cheeks and sticking the remainder of the tube in for a nose. The look Jada tossed Auguste was despair (that wasn't cheap makeup!), before she turned back to the little blonde who was beaming at them both, clearly proud. "Lovely, Giulia. You and Auguste did a wonderful job." It was getting cold, however, and she reached out. "You're half-frozen, sweetie. We should go get you some tea before you catch a chill, darling."
