Rigid though he may be, even Duren could not stifle the brief chuckling that slipped out due to the banter between the other employees that had gathered. Meanwhile, he had been siting quietly, his attention split between the plate of food in front of him and the briefing for the mission at hand. It was certainly good that the kobold was thinking spatially in regards to this, but tunnels were something that the dwarf was well versed in as well. Perhaps they might be a little more close-quartered than he would prefer, but he could certainly...fit. "Either way, it sounds as though we are certainly needed, so I see no reason to refuse," he stated, setting his empty plate aside, "And if you do run ahead, little one, just be sure you don't go to far. You need to be able to get back behind my shield if there's trouble."

Leaning back in his chair, Tom would answer the questions as they came.
"The closest cave is an gold mine, four miles to the south. It is owned by Gracia Everleaf, a half-elf noble in the capital. If it was lost, she wouldn't take it lightly. As for sewers, a friend of mine in the Guild assures me the goblins didn't come from there."
Turning his attention to Acorn's question, "According to a credible source, the assailants belonged to goblins. If you feel the need to talk with her; she is in training at the moment, but she will be at the western guard barracks around 4 pm. Ask for Rika."

Acorn would smile apologetically, and wave a hand dismissively at Tom. "I'm just ragging on the little ankle-biter," she assured him. "He may have used his talents to line his pockets, but he has yet to steal a sense of humor for himself."
Half-standing from her chair, leaving her knee upon the seat, she would lean over towards Duren and clap a hand on his shoulder. "You're kind of clanky and I'm kind of loud; I'm fine letting the shifty ones get their skulk on. I'll keep ya company, doncha worry." She would imitate a little crossbow with her hand, point it at the dwarf, and wink at him playfully.

He would just fidget lightly at the accusations of his lack of humor. He had a sense of it, just they didn't understand his jokes. Still... "So, shall we investigate the hole first or the guards that encountered the goblins?"

"My vote is for heading straight there." Seraphina would state simply. She would grab her plate and get up from the floor, her tail swaying to keep her balance. She would then head back into the kitchen for more food.

"I agree with going straight there," Duren replied, but he looked over at Acorn and did shoot her a rare smile for her antics. "We already have information from the guard's recon, and our orders are to purge the hole...so let's purge the hole."

"Ahh..." Tom would nod, with Acorn's assurance, "Just remember the story about the fish who was judged on it's ability to climb trees..." with a half-hearted smile. Clasping his hands in front of his lips for a moment, Tom would look around the room at the small group. "The quickest way into the catacombs would be though the Mausoleum. And the other way, is a crossed town, through the graveyard." Quote: Passive Insight: Duran would pickup on a hint, that Tom wished they would take the graveyard. But, wouldn't say it... With an audible click of his brace, Tom stood from his seat and gathered a few things, including his cane and two children's books. "If there are no more questions, I have another meeting to get to. Feel free to stay and finish your meals, just lock up afterwards...Oh, and Happy Hunting."

The kobold just waved to the old man as he went on his way. "Well then, if you have anything you need to get, now would be the time. Then it's off to the Catacombs, one way or the other."

"You mean, this fish?" Wagging the skewer back and forth, Acorn would bring it to her mouth and chomped down on it, pulling the sticker back clean. "I love a happy ending!"
"Well, can't say I've ever been to a human masolamb before, so I say we get going! No time like the present," Acorn would state, standing from her seat.

Duren thought he was picking up on something, and for better or worse it seemed like they were being pushed more towards teh graveyard option. So far, Tom hadn't seemed to steer the dwarf wrong, so he was going to decide to trust the man. "Hmm, going through the graveyard seems the more direct path. We should go soon."

Seraphina would finish with her second plate of food and stand up. Cracking her knuckles she would simply reply. "It doesn't matter too much to me which route we take. Lead the way and I'll bloody anything that comes against us...just give me a few minutes to get dressed. Cant go out like this."

"Is it? I haven't had much interest in the Mausoleum or ways to get to it." He straightened, nodding towards Seraphina. "Of course, blessed one. I shall await your preparedness." And with that, he'd get a bit more tea.

Seraphina chuckles at Morenth comment as she returns her dish to the kitchen and heads to her room. She wasn't sure if he was mocking her or not, having mixed feelings about her origin herself, but then it didn't matter that much anyways. In her current state he was closest thing to kin she had in this entire town. A few minutes later Seraphina returns down stairs completely draped in cloak and veil. The only things visible were her eyes, the space between, her her two steel-blue horns. "Alright, lets do this."

The eastern side of the city was friendlier to non-humans than the west. A casino, theaters, dance halls, brewery; all owned by non-humans a fact that couldn't be said on the west. A side from the crossing of the bridge, where many aspiring bards battled the chill to earn a few coins(some of which made Acorn's night songs sound angelic in compare), The trip was largely uneventful.
Save for a few people marching in a funeral procession, and an honor guard(usually an armed priest of the Raven Queen); the bone yard was completely devoid of life[pun intended]. Flowers and letters adorn the ground around a small stone building at the back of the yard, the locked entrance of the catacombs.

The small lizard adjusted his hooded cloak to hide a bit more of his features as he walked through the graveyard. He bowed his head towards the funeral procession respectfully, looking for any guards as he continued to the catacombs and mausoleum beyond.
