“Hm?” Caiden's voice dipped to a mumble, and Autumn could barely hear him, let alone make out anything he said over the street sounds. Before she could inquire further however the boy changed the subject. “Sometimes! It depends.” Autumn released Caiden's hand. She skipped ahead a few steps, then turned to face him with a wink. Caterpal roused on her shoulder, complaining at the sudden jostle with a squeak. The yellowblood ignored him. “Hey, let's play a game!” she told Caiden. She pointed to a small hivestem with an escape ladder in the dim alleyway. “If you can make it to that rooftop without getting caught, I'll tell you a really important secret~! Do we have a deal?”

"DEAL!" Caiden said enthusiastically. A secret of Autumns?! Oh this was going to be great! Caiden looked up at the rooftop, shielding his eyes from the bright moons light, then at the busy street. Not be caought, huh? His first instinct was to simply run over and climb it, but that would make him easy to spot. Caiden thought about it. There were a lot of trolls about... The brownblood slipped off his favorite rainbow jacket, and gave it to Autumn. Now, all of CamoDad's training was going to be put to work. Caiden walked over to the building, inspected its colors, textures, and details, then closed his eyes. CamoDad had a similar power to the troll, and they had been practicing making more than just butterflies with it (Tho that his favorite thing to do with it). Caiden's back seemed to take on the same color and texture of the wall, and he climbed the ladder.

Autumn nodded approvingly as Caiden slipped into the alleyway and a moment later shimmered and disappeared. He had grown up a lot since she had first met him. It was hard to imagine a younger Caiden being so careful. Holding Caiden's jacket tight, Autumn bobbed her shoulder, jostling her lusus from his nap. His tail flashed in annoyance, and his wings began to buzz. “Come on, Cat,” she said. He buzzed beside her head sleepily. “We're going up for a bit~!”Autumn ducked into an empty side street. Her gaze flicked from side to side, searching for any bystanders. Her wings drew enough attention when she was on the ground. Using them in a crowd would be sure to attract an audience, and for once she needed to act with stealth. Once she was certain no one was paying her much mind, she gave her wings a flutter and hopped into the air. It did not take her long to reach the rooftop. At lower altitudes the city air was dead, but once she ascended past some of the smaller buildings, she found a fresh breeze to ride. She circled around a few times in the night sky before settling on the designated meeting place. A minute later she heard Caiden's sneakers on the fire escape's rungs. She began to applaud.

Caiden grinned as he found Autumn on the roof. Good think it wasn't a race, she was in general faster with vertical movement than any other troll. "Fancy seeing you up here!" Caiden joked. He moved to the middle of the roof, where he could shake off the camouflage and don his favorite rainbow coat. "Thanks for bringing that." Caiden could not stop smiling, he was giddy. It felt better up here. It felt like they were above the world, the hemospectrum, the bullies and terrible trolls of the world. He looked at Autumn, the moons reflecting their unique colors through her semi transparent wings.

“It's really pretty up here, isn't it?” Autumn said, looking out over the city. She fluttered beside Caiden just a few inches off the ground. Her sentiments echoed the brownblood's. “Nothing to worry about or fear... It's just you and the world.” A squeak came from beside her. She rolled her eyes. “Well, you, me, and Caterpal.”She glanced back at Caiden. Her expression turned serious and she descended the last few inches to the ground. Nervous, she coiled a lock of hair around her finger. “You asked about my friends,” she began. “That's why I thought I'd talk to you up here. They're not exactly... on good terms with the rest of society.” Autumn paused a moment, searching her friend's face for a reaction.

Caiden laughed, and turned around to give caterpal a loving pet. His own Lusus was probably worried about him. Caiden wasn't too concerned, as he had seen CamoDad on the roof of the little café, and so the lusus had seen Caiden running away, but just noticing Autumn's lusus made him wish for his own father. Caiden was distracted from his lusus thoughts when Autumn suddenly grew nervous, but grinned reassuringly at the yellowblood. Whatever she had to say, he would accept. He trusted Autumn. "Oh, so, they arnt around here... are they?" Caiden said, not really sure what to say.

Caterpal let out a squeak at the physical contact. He did not shy away for once though, and instead perched on Caiden's shoulder. Meanwhile Autumn laughed, a little surprised at the brownblood's response. “Of course not. Who did you think they were? she teased. “Flapbeasts?”She went over to the edge of the rooftop and sat down, allowing her legs to dangle below. “No, they're far away from here. They have to keep hidden or they would be wiped out by the Queen and her lackeys. It almost happened before, when I was just a wiggler. They're... freedom fighters, you see?”

Caiden shrugged, giggling. "Hey, maybe where you come from EVERYONE is a flapbeast." The mood became somber, and Caiden fallowed Autumn to the edge of the building, joining her and sitting down. He remained quiet, processing, giving a moment of silence for her friends who were not here anymore. "I'm sorry," Caiden said, again, "I, I want to help make this world... something better." He became silent again, thinking about some fictional place where he could go wherever, and enjoy everything with his friends. He sat, watching the city with all its lights and hustle bustle, Alternia is beautiful and full of so many things. But Alternia, this alternia, wasn't made for lowbloods like him, as it was becoming more and more apparent. He tilted his head, looking at Autumn. "Is, is that what your friends are fighting for?"

Autumn nodded. “Imagine a world where your blood colour is nothing more than just that. It's not a label for others to box you into, it's not an indication of your worth, and it's not who you are as a person. It's just blood.”She swung her feet out, staring down over the city lights. “After all, why should someone bluer be better than anyone else?”

Caiden laid down on the roof, looking at the stars and the night sky. "That sounds like a nice place..." The brownblood said, "I wish.." He sighed, he was always wishing. Wishing, hoping, pretending. Caiden looked over at Autumn, "Your friends sound pretty great, doing things, working towards their dreams..." Caiden lay silent, just watching the stars as they twinkled in an out, the atmosphere distorting the light. He sat back up, a determined look on his face. "I want to help."

Underneath Caiden there was suddenly a loud squeak. Autumn's lusus had slipped off his shoulder when he went to lay down and then gotten pinned. Tail blinking out ferocious threats that would never be carried out, the caterpillar wiggled out from underneath the boy and went to sulk on the asphalt. Meanwhile Autumn's face lit up. She turned back to face Caiden and clapped her hands together in delight. “I was hoping you would say that!” she exclaimed. She flopped down next to him, beaming. Her eyes practically glowed with happiness. As she stared up at the stars, they just might have. She continued, “I'll see if I can arrange a meeting soon. I'll let you know when and where as soon as soon as I can.”After a moment, she inclined her head back towards Caiden. Reaching out, she took hold of his hand. “Caiden?” she said. “Thank you for tonight.”

Caiden sprang back to a sit as the lusus made loud angry noises. "Ah! Caterpal I'm sorry! Your just, so comfortable!" He looked at Autumn, smiling at the brightness in her eyes. He wanted to meet her friends, even if it would mean confronting the fact that the world wasn't how he saw it. The rainbow in his mind felt broken, segregated. He had met nice highbloods, yes, and he tried not to let the bad ones taint his view, but it was hard. If there just were no colors, or hemospectrum, well, everything could be better. Caiden grinned at Autumn as she took his hand, and sat silent. He had nothing to say to that, and just enjoyed the warmth that spread from his chest all throughout his body.
