Pat had been so focused on cooking that he totally didn't realize when Fiona came into the room until she spoke up. He practically choked on a particularly difficult stanza of the song he just realized he had been humming. Clearing his throat he turned just enough to look over at her, “or you could just kiss the cook.” He tried to deliver the line smoothly but he was a little horse from the surprise and pretty embarrassed that she had caught him humming a song from a children's musical, at least he wasn't aiming it. Even though she likely didn't know what it was from, that was the only saving grace. With a shake of his head Pat focused on the last little bit of the hot food, adding the spaghetti to the pot of boiling water. “You really don't want to hear me sing. I can't carry a tune in a bucket.” He didn't mind singing when he was alone, and knew the words, but Pat was under no illusions as to what he sounded like. Almost his entire repertoire was musicals though, not anything he really wanted to share. He did know a few holiday ones if Fiona really wanted him to sing but they were just as bad as some of the musicals. Seriously who wanted to hear a grown man sing ‘Jingle bells, Batman smells’ or ‘Rudolf the Red Nose Rabbit’, he knew a few, a very small few, camp songs but they were even less appropriate in present company then the butchered children's christmas jingles. Even paying attention to what he was doing Pat was aware of Fiona, at least he was now, so he wasn’t jumpy when she slid right up beside him and gently ran her fingers down his arms. If he hadn’t been paying busy he would have just scooped her up and maybe made use of some counter space to enjoy a little kissing but he was nearly done and besides… they had all night for fun. “As long as you have warmth, food, light, and some entertainment it will be fine.” He glanced over at her and smiled, “You have blankets, candles, dinner, and I’m sure I can think of something to keep us amused if the power actually goes out.” Oh he had lots of ideas but they all depended on her. If she didn’t want to then he wouldn’t push it, Pat had a deck of cards out in his car if it was really necessary. It never occurred to him that they might not be able to get out. “Yeah I have the next two days off so I’ll even be able to stick around to help you dig out.” Not that he would have left before then either but atleast this way he could also help clear out more then just Fiona. “I don't suppose you know your new neighbors? I feel kind of bad not giving them a heads up on the storm if they don't know already.” Ever the knight, Pat had wondered how others were fairing in this crappy weather. Just because they were doing fine didn’t mean that there weren't others who didn’t need the help. His crew would likely be running a lot of calls tonight.

"I could do both," she chirped, reaching up to pull him into a quick kiss. She didn't linger this time, so that she could allow him to continue cooking without too much distraction. "Shame," she pretended to sigh, moving away from him so she could find herself a spot on the counter away from the foot to sit upon.
"I'd let you serenade me any time," she teased, crossing her legs and settling her hands on her knees. "I'm sure you can keep me entertained," she said confidently, unable to suppress the flirty quirk of her lips. It slipped a little when he returned to practical and helpful and she sighed, pushing her bangs back before pouting at him.
"That's not why I asked," she told him. "We hardly get to spend much time together as is. Maybe I wanted to monopolize your time off."

Pat wished the kiss had lasted longer but he knew why Fiona had made it a quick one. The food was just about done and it wouldn't due to distract the cook right then… sadly. Mentally groaning he watched out of the corner of his eye as she perched on the counter, it was like she could read his mind, even as he flicked off the stove and went to drain the pasta. He saw the smile and the teasing way she sat even through the steam of the starchy water as he dumped the spaghetti into the colander. Returning her smile he left the now empty pot on the stove, the rest could just sit there, and approached her slowly. She wasn’t entirely happy with his comment about the neighbors, he understood why. But it was who he was. Always watching out for others, it was why he went into the job he did. Why he was a healer and really disliked his new job of being a knight. Pounding heads was all well and good at least until someone really got hurt. Coming to a stop in front of Fiona Pat smiled sadly, “I know ceann daor.” It was a phrase he had learned from his mother, ‘dear one’ in Irish, a language his mother learned up from her mother and her mother before. He didn’t remember much but he knew that one, along with a few others and a couple of choice curses for when he really hurt himself but couldn’t vocalize a normal swearword for whatever reason. For Pat it was meant to show just how special Fiona was to him. How she was his normalcy in this insane city. He might not have said that phrase every woman wanted to hear, ‘I Love You’, but it was only because he wanted, needed, to be certain of it. He was not the kind of man who would use that phrase without truly meaning it. “I’m all yours for the next 48 hours.” He gently cupped her cheek, his thumb softly brushing against her pouting lips. “Don’t be mad, after all it is kind of my job. You wouldn’t like me nearly as much if I wasn’t who I was.” With a smile he leaned in and claimed a kiss even as the lights flickered and died, plunging them into darkness. Only the light filtering in from outside and the golden glow of the fire in the other room illuminated the space.

She watched him, trying to keep her general disappointment hidden until he came over to her. Carefully, she drew her hands from her knees and uncrossed them so she could draw him closer, hands sliding across his shoulders and letting her knees press against either side of his hips. "I'm not mad," she said with a shake of her head.
"I just wanted to be a little selfish is all," she sighed, leaning her face into his hand. Her eyes fluttered closed briefly as his thumb brushed her lips and she titled her head up, grinning when he kissed her.
It wasn't until after the kiss that Fiona realized the power had gone out and she sighed, shaking her head in the dim-lighting before she slid slender fingers into his hair. "Do you mind if I indulge in desert before we get to dinner?" She teased, drawing her lip into her mouth as she glanced from his purple eyes to his mouth.
Wanting to make out probably wasn't the best thing to do after the power just went out, but Fiona was keen on indulging herself a little more. "Pretty please?"

Nuxaz I would say this is a good point to fin yes? Pat grinned, gliding his hands down her sides as he inched as close as he could, leaning in but hovering just shy of kissing her. “With a cherry on top.” He closed the distance and kissed her some more only to pull back slightly and murmured once more. “The food will keep.” With no power there was no worry burning the food, it would get cold but it could always be rewarmed with the fire. Right then, he was more than willing to oblige Fiona. “No better way to spend a power outage,” he said before he went back to kissing her. They had all night after all.
