Anxious Blob

Character Name: Tom Wolf
Short Char Description: A new doctor who hasn't really been able to find his place in the Prytaneum yet. If he's not comfortable in the situation he tends to stay quiet and observe rather than put himself in the situation. He doesn't like conflict that much or fighting. He is very friendly once you get to know him though.
Gift Suggestions: Gift cards are nice, especially itunes and Paneras. He also likes detective novels. Anything owl themed would also be appreciated but he wouldn't mind if he got something else he wasn't expecting.

Character Name: Brianna Pavlovich
Short Char Description: Headstrong and impulsive, Briiva is an excitable, over zealous ball of energy that can explode at the slightest provocation. While friendly and always ready to help out, she has a flair for the dramatic and will get carried away more often than not.

Gift Suggestions: Books. What kind doesn't matter so much, But Briiva loves almost anything of a scientific or theological subject, be it a collections of scientific papers or some cheesy science-fiction piece.

Character Name: Caleb McCloud
Short Char Description: Caleb is a strong and silent type, but when he does speak, he's probably being an a*****e. But he's got a hell of a jawline, so he's got that going for him at least.
Gift Suggestions: Lighters, wallets, keychains, swiss army knives, and other small knick-knacks. He's a practical man who likes his things to have a use.

WHAT NOW?

Marks will be sent out shortly. Once you have your target, the next step is for you to start a thread in which your character gives a gift to that person. This can be played in one of two ways:

SOLO: A solo of at least 400 words, in which your character leaves the present somewhere their target can find it, either anonymously or with their name on it. Your solo should also include some sort of reasoning for the gift you've given. If you choose this option, you claim 10XP from participation.

PRP: If your target is willing, you can turn your gift-giving into a PRP, in which your character gives the present to their target and, afterward, the two of you continue RP in whatever way feels appropriate. Perhaps your character explains why they got the present they did, or perhaps the target secretly hates it and tries to pretend they like it -- whatever feels appropriate! This functions as a standard RP (10XP for 800 words) but the gift-giver can claim an extra 10XP for participation.

Important Note: Remember that your gift cannot be a consumable item. This means it can't be food, perfume, gift cards, cash, etc. It should be one gift of a permanent nature.

________________________

At the end of a gift-giving Solo or RP, a surprise comes from an observing God's appreciation of the gift: a minor blessing! Each gift given out has a small, non-combat magical ability. To find out what this is, the recipient rolls 1d12 and matches their roll to the list below:

  1. Zeus blesses this item so that when it's touched by anyone but the owner, it lets off a light static shock.
  2. Hera blesses this item to give off a sense of calm and comfort, as if at home.
  3. Demeter blesses this item with a lifelike quality that grows and withers to reflect the changing seasons or time of day.
  4. Poseidon blesses this item to let off a slow drip of water.
  5. Apollo blesses this item to play a sweet melody when it's quiet.
  6. Artemis blesses this item to give off a faint glow, like moonlight, in darkness.
  7. Athena blesses this item so that the bearer feels more alert and focused when holding it.
  8. Ares blesses this item so that its bearer is filled with the spirit of competition.
  9. Aphrodite blesses this item with a distracting beauty that draws all eyes to it and warms the blood.
  10. Dionysus blesses this item so that holding it slowly renders the bearer more and more intoxicated, only slowly sobering up once they let go.
  11. Hermes blesses this item so that when it's lost, it always returns to its rightful place.
  12. Hephaestus blesses this item so that it's always warm, and in the cold it becomes hot enough to burn.

________________________

Once you have given an item to your assigned mark, you are welcome to repeat this with two additional giftees of your choosing -- either solos valued at 10xp for 400 words, or PRPs with bonuses for giving a gift. These two gifts also get a randomly generated magical ability.

However, if you fail to give a present to your mark, not only can't you give out additional gifts but the gods see this as well -- and whatever was given to you bursts into flames, rendered quickly to dust. No one receives without giving.

Xenia Part Two:

Part one of the Prytaneum's winter gift-giving event was about one Chosen giving a gift to another. Part two, instead, is about the Chosen giving a gift to their God.

In this case, it's not about physical items. They get enough burned sacrifices during the rest of the year. Instead, now, they want something a little more involved, a little more personal: they want action, something that shows their Chosen's loyalty and devotion to their cause.

The gift Chosen will give is to do something related to their God's sphere -- learn, visit, create, explore, something that will lead to growth and new talents. Perhaps they visit a museum, they take a class, they write a story or a song or go to a concert. Perhaps they throw a party, or help an animal rescue. So long as it can be justified as part of their God's sphere [and shows some kind of learning or new exploration], anything is acceptable!

Just make sure that whatever they do, they bring back a souvenir -- something small, something that is permanent [not consumable!] and related to their action.

Xenia gifts for Part Two should be done solo in new threads, with [Xenia] in the title! They should describe your character's adventure/experience/what have you, including an explanation of how it relates to their God. If they create something, it could include whatever they create in addition to 400 words. Creativity is encouraged! Assuming it suits your character...

Once you've written a solo thread, your character completing the action that will serve as a gift for their god, including naming their souvenir, claim 10 XP, and match their God to the list below! As a thank you in response, they will imbue that item with a small magical ability.

  • Zeus blesses this item so that when it's touched by anyone but the owner, it lets off a light static shock.
  • Hera blesses this item to give off a sense of calm and comfort, as if at home.
  • Demeter blesses this item with a lifelike quality that grows and withers to reflect the changing seasons or time of day.
  • Poseidon blesses this item to let off a slow drip of water.
  • Apollo blesses this item to play a sweet melody when it's quiet.
  • Artemis blesses this item to give off a faint glow, like moonlight, in darkness.
  • Athena blesses this item so that the bearer feels more alert and focused when holding it.
  • Ares blesses this item so that its bearer is filled with the spirit of competition.
  • Aphrodite blesses this item with a distracting beauty that draws all eyes to it and warms the blood.
  • Dionysus blesses this item so that holding it slowly renders the bearer more and more intoxicated, only slowly sobering up once they let go.
  • Hermes blesses this item so that when it's lost, it always returns to its rightful place.
  • Hephaestus blesses this item so that it's always warm, and in the cold it becomes hot enough to burn.

Note: Yes, you can still do your secret santa threads~ This doesn't end that, it's just in addition to!
If you missed the first part, that's fine too! Feel free to leap in now, or whenever's convenient!
