"Eh!" Korin protested, but he supposed that Ishida's hair was better anyway. Still he pouted and hid behind his mother's leg until she came out with a little nondwa with paper wings. He took it gleefully and flicked one of the paper shapes.
" 'Ike!" he repeated. His 'ch'es still weren't very good.

Bhima offered the pouting boy a toy just to avoid any battles. They'd have to learn to share some day, but they were small still. Neither of them would be going anywhere. They'd learn. They were already pretty good about not destroying things.
"Yes, Grandma Chike says 'hi," Bhima said, and then turned to Hijil. "How do you feel? I could take over for a while." She set down the sack, careful to not bonk Korin in the head.

"Hi!" Ishida said. When someone said hi, you were supposed to say hi back. That Chike was not in the room was not important. She fiddled the kinfa out of her hair and turned it to look at her. "Hi!"
And then she put it back in her hair because it was supposed to sleep there. Sleeping was good. It could sleep - she was done sleeping - she wanted to play with Korin! She wiggled on Hijil's lap. "Down!" she said, pointing imperiously.

"I'm... fine." Despite being up way past her bedtime (or before, depending), Hijil was managing. Or, she had been until Ishida had woken up. They were armfuls, their children - more so even than the kinfa pair. "I can look after them for a while longer, if you need to rest." She set Ishida down, a little wary because the girl could be slippery as a fish when she wanted to be. "Any news?"

Korin didn't know that his sister's plan was to play with him, but when she started coming down he ran to her and made 'zoom' noises as the nondwa flew past his sister's face. When he realized she was joining him, though, he gave a gleeful little sound and took her hand. Maybe they could go through the bag!

Bhima's brows raised. "News?" What kind of news? "No, no news." Seeing Korin going for the bag she had carried, though, she lifted it.
"Why don't you take this? Just get the food out and I'll take it back. I've got the kids. You look like you need some rest, my love." Hijil's sleep schedule had been working its way out of the daytime since the kinfa, but it seemed that they were still getting there. It could be a struggle.

"Oh. All right." Just... any news. Hijil wanted to know more about the world beyond her refuge, specifically Bhima's world but also... in general. With the gift of two children, two children she had to raise and teach, she felt like the time had come to take a few steps out into it and know more of what was out there. She wasn't quite sure how to actually say that to Bhima, yet. News was a step in the right direction, though. "No news is good, yes?" Hijil asked. She'd heard the phrase somewhere.
Hijil took the bag. "All right." she said. Maybe she could figure out a new meal? Try a new thing? She gave Bhima a kiss and carried it to a nearby adjoining area where she could sort through it.
She did need rest. She was tired. But she had to be awake in the day, for Bhima and the children, and she had to be awake at night for the coolness of it. It was frustrating to figure out - if she was awake in one, she missed the other.
She peeked into the other room as she removed the foodstuffs from the bag, beaming as the twins played. They were cute - so cute - when they held hands. Their little hands seemed made for each other, and their smiles melted her heart. No. She couldn't miss a minute of this, not for all the cool darkness or the sweet sleep in the world.

Nondwa didn't go 'zoom!' Nondwa went 'flap!' But before she could correct her brother with the proper noises, he had taken her hand. She reached for the bag as it was taken away, and then shrugged dissappointedly at him. It was okay! There were other things to do! Like hug! Ishida turned the held hand into a tackle-glomp, just to see what would happen. Maybe she would tickle him! That would be funny!

Korin, unlike some little boys, had no problem with his sister. She was his, after all, and even if he wanted to he couldn't trade her. Besides, she wasn't annoying all the time.
When Ishida came at him, Korin's hand clutched the nondwa harder out of reflex as he tried to keep his footing. It didn't quite work, though, so he toppled over with his sister on top and started to laugh. The nondwa went skittering a few inches.
"Hey!" Korin chimed, "Hey!" He was one step ahead now, reaching to tickle his sister's sides.

Bhima smiled when the children gave up their quest for the bag of supplies and chose to play with each other instead. It wouldn't be this simple forever. Even if the twins got along well, they would be different people when they grew. The teen years would mean more sibling rivalry and efforts to be singular. For now, though, they could enjoy the twins' friendship while the pair was a bit more hands-on to care for.
"Usually," the Alkidike agreed as Hijil took the bag from her. "Andile tends to hear about things pretty quickly, so I don't think there's any new conflicts." That was good, because she didn't want to have to leave home again, especially not with two children to care for. The kinfa were one thing and they had seemed to miss her, but these were little people. It was different.
"My mother did say she'd like to see you again, when you feel up to it," she continued, taking Hijil's place in making sure the children didn't hurt each other or get lost in the woods. Some day soon they would start getting them used to the wilderness, but not quite yet. "She wants to see the kids too, of course. I don't think she thought she'd ever have grandchildren." Honestly, if she hadn't been able to find Hijil, her mother would probably have been right.

"Hey!" Ishida shrieked, giggling gleefully even as she tried to squirm away from his hands. He'd beaten her to the tickling! Now she had to get him back!
She wiggled off of him and tickled at his now-exposed tummy, sticking her tongue out at him playfully. Take that!
She was half listening to her parents - something about their tone of voice was odd - but it was still pretty over her head and her brother was right here, right now, and she wanted to play.

"Theres been enough conflict." Hijil agreed, her face very soft as she looked at her children. She didn't want them to see conflict or feel hardship. How naiive was she to believe that that could happen? "I..." The thought of walking out into that village still frightened her. She had been there several times, had even met people she guessed she could call friends, but it was still tricky. "Think I would be. Soon. Up for seeing her." Somehow, bringing the children was less stressful than going alone, or even with Bhima. "Next time you go. We'll all go." she decided out loud.

"No, no!" Korin yelped, but he was grinning and laughing as he did. He only half-heartedly pushed at his sister, trying to distract her with her own tickles to get her off. it wasn't working very well, though, considering his flailing. Korin was a particularly ticklish little boy.

Bhima turned to the children and spoke gently but with authority to them: "Voices, please."
She waited for Korin's shrieking to settle down before returning her attention to Hijil. "There's no rush, you know that." Given a choice, Bhima would have preferred a wife less terrified of the outside world, but of course there was no choice. Hijil was the only one for her, and if she was afraid Bhima would do everything she could to support her. It wasn't as if Hijil's fears were unfounded, after all. She had spent a long time away from civilization entirely.
"I won't be disappointed if you can't," she added then. She wouldn't deny her mother visitation with her grandchildren, though. Even if it meant traversing the forest on her own with two kids, Mama Chike needed to see them.Life was too short and fragile to not push it.

What did one say to no? "Yes!" she said mischeviously, doubling down her tickling. It wasn't mean, was it, to do what her brother was doing to her, back at him?
Except... his tickles found her weak point. "Hahaha!" she squealed, rolling off of him, laughing. "Nooo!" Now it was her turn.
She wouldn't have noticed Mama's voice, except for the fact that it was Mama's voice. She wanted them to be quiet, but Ishida didn't see how! She was laughing too hard!
