Constynce dropped her gaze as she absorbed the information. To see that a man could be so changed... What sort of power could do such a thing? Was it really death? Death did change all that came under its touch. When her hand was grabbed, she reacted by wrapping her fingers around his hand as much as she could. The touch reinforced... he was real. No ghost. Back from the dead...
As Tryston revealed his findings, Constynce looked up at him with wide eyes that only grew wider. "Tryston.." To be betrayed by family... She couldn't imagine the pain. Seeking truth in Tale? Her brow knit slightly, mind working to understand what was being said. "You think.. someone in Tale had something to do with it as well?" she asked softly.
Then the revealed fear with the shameful glance made her cheeks flushed brightly. "No! No!" she gasped, clinging to Tryston again while shaking her head. "I wouldn't-! Never! Tryston, I don't want anyone getting hurt!"

Tryston ever so slowly nodded his head, "Yes." His gaze sought hers as he gathered courage to still his unsteady heart, "I'm afraid it may be someone who you know." The warrior sighed softly, "It had to be someone connected with the caravan - that attack was planned. Only someone within the upper levels could have allowed them to know the exact time we would be in that passage." His fingers tightened around Constynce's own, "I know you would never want to hurt anyone and that is why I trust you." His expression softened, "I did not wish to bring you into this, but you may be in danger. Not even I know the full truth of what's going on, but I intend to find some clues here before I go back to Zena and put everything back into its proper place."

He trusted her... Constynce looked at their joined hands and sighed softly. Unconsciously, she took a step closer to the cool guardian, mind starting to spin down yet another hill. Someone in Tale was plotting? Someone in her new home? She might be in danger?
She briefly thought about her fiance, and immediately felt guilty. She could remember how she had doubted him right after the attack. The man was being so kind to her when he could. He was.. just busy. No. It had to be someone else.
..Put everything into its proper place.
"Tryston, I want to help!" she announced, looking up with eager eyes. Tryston had only been in that pass during the attack because he'd been guarding her... "What do you need to find? If anyone near me really is.. really is trying to hurt you, or me, or anyone... I want to help. I can look around." Her gaze slid away slightly though. "At the least.. maybe I could find their innocence in all this."

Tryston stilled as Constynce moved closer. If ever the man had found a weakness or temptation it was the way the Tale woman seemingly glowed. Like a beam of sunlight resting over the snows...the tease from his mentor made the man blink and glance away. This was not the time for such thoughts and she was engaged. He had to remind himself of that.
"You wish to help?" His gaze narrowed thoughtfully as he quickly looked back towards her, "It may be dangerous and I do not wish for any harm to come to you." He replied quietly, "But to be honest you would be the one they would least expect." Tryston sighed as he pondered over their situation and her offer, "If we could just find some document, something that offers a contract that promotes having such an accident. There has to be some connection...."
He tightened his hold on her hands and took a step towards her so that they were barely a breath apart, "Constynce, if they are innocent then that is a blessing. If not I worry - you must be very careful. I will be around lurking and trying to find answers in other ways, but I may not be able to help you always. Are you certain you wish to risk yourself for this?"

Taking in a slow breath, Constynce felt her gaze slip off again. She did not want to cause Tryston any further worry, but if he truly thought there was danger to herself.. and her fiance.. of course.....
Her eyes widened slightly when Tryston stepped even closer, and she felt a strange tug in her gut. Tryston was still going to be watching out for her, even though he had so much on his shoulders now... "You said I might be in danger anyway. I- I will not stand idle again while others risk their own lives for me!" After a brief second, she stood on her toes to press a kiss to Tryston's cheek. "I want to help you."

"If you are certain then I will not stop you." Tryston found his words halted though by the sudden movement of the leaf girl. The light kiss on his cheek froze him and his shock caused him to do something that he hadn't thought of doing until now - something that just happened without much thought at all. His body moved in response to Constynce's action and the man found himself pulling the girl forward into a true kiss. It just seemed so natural to kiss her in that moment he couldn't stop himself.
It was a gentle kiss, but one that he immediately broke as realization dawned on him. "I'm so sorry, I don't know what came over me." Whispered Tryston as he took several steps back away from Constynce, "I - I should leave now. Please be safe Constynce and if you find anything leave it here by that hollow tree. When I can I'll check back in the evenings as the moon rises."
His gaze glimmering with torn emotions the man bowed his head before turning to head back towards the shadows of the forest.

Constynce couldn't help a smile of relief. Tryston was going to let her help! This time, others would not be pushing her out of harm's way to be hurt themselves.
Before her heels touched the ground, she felt herself being pulled forward again. Though the cool and surprising touch made her gasp, her eyes closed in response to the heat that filled her chest. The next moment, and she was blinking at the growing gap between her and the icy man. Touching her fingers to her lips, she nodded vaguely to Tryston's words. "You be... safe," she returned, cheeks steadily heating bright. She was engaged! Promised! She should not have enjoyed that so much! She hadn't!
She looked down at her basket of bulbs, and dropped to her knees to dig into the dirt again. She would see things clearer after dirt...
