"Not much to say 'bout 'er." Ouen shrugged, cracking a tough nut with his fingers and offering it to her (this was not a trick she had mastered yet, and even Ouen had spent the first half of his life making a mess of things by smashing similar nuts with rocks the size of his head). "I mean, what there's to say, 's all good. She's small, she's nice, she's quiet. She's as gentle a thing as you can imagine. An' naw, I'm the only one. An' really, just 'bout the only bad thing about her's that she went an' had me as a son. I mean, it ain't like she done chose it, but it sure as hell wasn't a great success on her part."
He laughed and tossed a bit of fruit to the keldari still curled around Kalli.
"Eh, I don't mean it bad like that. She's a good woman. She'll be happy 'bout the kid, anyhow. An' she'll likely help how she can, y'know. Not that she knows much 'bout good fatherin' either, mind you."
Ouen shrugged and cracked himself another nut. He didn't know much about Kalli's family either, but he wasn't going to pry. She could tell him what he wanted -- he'd always believed that folks should be loyal to their families when they had to, but there wasn't any need to judge them based on who their families were.
"We's can go over an' see your folks if yous want. It ain't so far, I's just come from that a-way. I mean, if you got the guts to show 'em the good-for-nothin' you done an' shacked up with, that is."

She listened as he told her about his mother, taking the nuts offered, and seemed to settle on the bed in an odd position. "Mm? There is nothing wrong with you Ouen." Of course he could be a little less "free" but it never hurt anyone. Kalliope watched as he fed Lissa though the Keldari seemed disinterested in the food for the time being. She seemed to just like being curled up and warm in the furs on the bed. She lifted her gaze to the shifter male in front of her and stared at him for a moment. "I have several brothers and sisters you know.." A hint of a smile formed on her lips. "I'm actually the youngest." Well, unless her parents went and had another baby while she was gone. Maybe going to see them wouldn't be a bad idea. "I wouldn't mind stopping in to see them, but maybe after the baby is born." If things didn't go smoothly she didn't want to deal with the stress of her family freaking out. His joke, or at least she hoped it was, about him being good-for-nothing made her shake her head at him. "I'm sure my brothers would like you."

"Do's I look like I think there's anythin' wrong with me?" Ouen laughed, biting into a fruit and leaning forward so the juices wouldn't drip all over their furs and blankets. "I just know I ain't what most parents go an' expect from theirs kids, is all. Hell, prolly the only parent out there wouldn't be disappointed 'bout raisin' me is... me. But shh, shh. I done already promised I'll try an' be a better parent than that. No lil runaway Ouens, I swear."
"Lots of your folks thereabouts seem to have big families." He shrugged when she explained that she had siblings (he wasn't that surprised -- besides the fact that it seemed common among Oban households, she also just... seemed like the type to be the youngest). "Well, you'll show 'em, anyway. Littlest Kalli livin' wild and free with some babies an' a shifter in a camp full of hooligans. I s'pose at least we ought to get 'em some gifts or somethin', so they don't think too badly of me."
Having finished his fruit, he leaned back onto the blankets beside her, lying so that she might pick whatever position that was comfortable for her. He could get used to this, he thought to himself -- it wasn't half-bad, being a father and having a pretty, funny, clever Oban for his child's mother.
"You feelin' better?" He asked once Kalli had settled down somewhat. "We can sort out all the family visits when the kid's old 'nough to travel. For now, just take it easy. I'll give yous pointers if you want, I'm an expert at relaxin'."

She moved a foot out to poke him with as he laughed and bit into his fruit. Her hands were busy with rubbing her belly and eating the food she had in the one hand. What he said after that made her smile though. "Little Ouens, huh? Does that mean if we have a boy it'll be Ouen Jr.?" Kalli teased at him. Wanting to take some fruit before it was all gone she leaned forward and took some from him. She was mid-bite when he described her life now and it made her laugh to the point that she inhaled the juice from her fruit. Going into a small coughing fit she covered her mouth with one hand and did her best to get it under control. "Stop that.." All of her movements disturbed her Keldari to the point that she moved farther away, going to the edge of the bed to curl up. Kalli noticed this and when she had the extra room to stretch out she did so, soon claiming a spot that was half on Ouen when he lay beside her. "Mm? Pointers huh? Like what?"

He yawned, stretching out to his full length and getting comfortable in this new position. When she teased him about 'Ouen Jr', he rolled his eyes and swatted at her.
"Naw, none 'a that. One Ouen's more than enough 'round 'ere."
Her body was warm and soft against his. Tentatively, he reached out to touch the curve of her belly. He wasn't sure what he expected -- maybe to feel the skin stretched out and taut, as if she were a drum skin. But it wasn't anything like that. Her skin was soft and buttery, her belly gently giving way under his hand. He couldn't feel any kicks from the baby inside, but he figured that was something (maybe) reserved for the poor mothers tasked with carrying babes. From the outside, anyway, it didn't look too unpleasant... but he wasn't the one who had trouble lying down, was he.
"M-hm, pointers. Close yours eyes, breathe deep, an' think about easy things. Like trees in the wind, an' waves on the beach, an' sand against your toes. 's harder than it looks, y'know. I been workin' on the technique all my life."

Stereochrome ilu~ you didn't really have to tag that fast if you didn't wanna tho. I know you have your schedule thing. When he stretched out he easily dwarfed her since he was tall and she had more curve than height but it was something she liked. A tired giggle left her as she was swatted at and she managed to cuddle closer to get comfortable. "Hm, we'll have to think of a name eventually." As it was her mind was a blank. His hand on her belly seemed to ease a discomfort she wasn't even aware she had and with him giving her pointers on how to relax she closed her eyes. Kalli gave a slight smile as her mind was filled with the easy thing he described and soon her breathing would slow to a steady pace, proof that she had managed to relax enough to sleep.
