Kin Name: Traveler of Stars

Image: n / a

Recipe: Traveler is not the best of cooks, but he tries his best anyway, because he wants to be able to share what he does know. Since he drifts a lot, he doesn't have a great deal of time to dedicate to cooking, but he does at least know how to provide for himself, and has learned some tricks and tidbits along the way.

"This," he says, rather proudly, and a little shyly - strange, for him, but it's a dish he's been working hard on, "is my Traveler's Stew. Something simple, yet filling for when one is on the road."

  • "Six roots of an alpine tree," he says, laying them carefully in a turtle shell bowl. "For earthiness."
  • "Four elderberries," Traveler continues, nudging them alongside the roots. "They add a bit of spice and sweetness. I like that."
  • Next - "Three hibiscus leaves." Traveler comes back with his mouth full and sets them atop the berries and roots. "They taste lovely and they add color, right?"
  • Last, but not least, Traveler informs you: "Any sort of meat. I prefer wild boar," he adds, with a little smile. "It's very tasty."

He adds a little bit of water and a little bit more berries to make the sauce thicker, and then uses a stick held in his mouth to stir everything together, presenting the dish proudly.

"And there you have it," says Traveler. "Stew for the wandering buck or doe."

Kin Name: Salty Sweet
Image: [ none, sorry ; A; ]
Recipe: A simple salad!
1. Find your favorite flavor of leaves and grasses. Toss them in a bowl.
- including herbs for some more flavor! some simple mint or basil can go a long way!
2. Find your favorite berry. Blueberries work particularly well, as they are not too sweet to overwhelm the other flavors.
3. Add walnuts and chestnuts for texture. If you have a salamander or means to a flame, roasting them can really bring out the flavor~
4. If you would like, you may add meat of some kind for added protein! Great idea in the winter months.
5. In another container, mix a damp algae with some syrup~ The algae will temper the syrup's sweetness.
6. Add the algae mixture to your salad and toss all of your flavors together!

Salty Sweet had found a nice tortoise shell for her salad, and thus had a fairly large amount -- certainly more than was necessary for a simple contest to judge. But that was part of the appeal -- it was a very simple recipe to gather ingredients for, so it had been easy to lose herself filling the shell.

Unfortunately, it didn't even matter, because it couldn't be eaten. In her rush and excitement to get her dish together, she hadn't realized that instead of grabbing an herb she had intended, a flavorful sicklesweet plant, she had instead grabbed something that looked incredibly close but would have left anyone who ate it writhing on the ground -- witherfen. Even as she watched them, eagerly awaiting their judgment, she didn't notice her mistake.

Still, she was proud of what she had put forth, even if they hadn't tasted it. It was a lovely-looking dish, clearly good for gatherings and easy to make (while still being tasty, even if they didn't try it to find out for themselves). It was also nice and versatile -- though that could be seen as 'ordinary', Salty Sweet liked offering a dish that each kin could put their own spin on.

2. Your recipe isn't that huge, but it's easy to mass-produce. +2 tokens
2. Time to Go refuses to eat any of your dish - because it's poisonous (whether this is intentional or otherwise). She finds this either amusing or useful enough that she still awards you +3 tokens, though.
3. Your meal is organized and neat. +1 token
