Content to remain in her hiding place and watch the goings on of her siblings and parents, Cas narrowed her glowing eyes thoughtfully. Whatever was going on, Mama was asking Ser and Kel to watch over them while she was gone. Which probably meant that Arioso truly was out for the day, or the better part of it, and Mama expected to be too. Father probably had business to attend to on behalf of the herd, which meant Raito would be helping him… Which meant it probably wouldn’t be all that hard to shake one or two of her siblings and slip away for whatever mischief one was inclined to find. If she had to guess, Cas would say that was probably Zei’s plan too.
The why of it eluded her, for the moment; but she was determined to figure it out. Cas frowned as she watched Zei skit around their parents, knowing he could hear a great deal more than what was drifting her way. Still, approaching to listen in on adult conversations seemed unnecessarily risky, maybe she could just wheedle the truth out of him when he got back.
Some of it didn’t need translating, of course. Father was worried about Aveshar, but father always worried about Aveshar and that was hardly news. Mother rarely did, which was also more of the same. Still, there were bits about important meetings and treaties and envoys and third parties and other things she was only catching bits and pieces of, but none of it made a lick of sense.
‘Are you going on an adventure, Mama?’ She wondered with a faint frown, glancing up to see that Aria and Minstrel were still perched overhead. The song and hummingbirds served as messengers and envoys of a kind for the Fayth Clan, so it would make a certain kind of sense that Aria would go along wherever Mama did… Still, it meant that the list of people she could ask questions of was getting shorter, which wasn’t exactly helpful.
