"Or you'll what?" Melvin glared back are Rodney. "I've been grabby with him for a while."
He looked back at Lawr curling his lip at the fact Lawr was so against the kids before. "You were all geared up, excited to have me here and fine with me just hours ago. Now look at you."
"You're fickle, Lawr. This won't last. You won't last."
If Lawr wanted a fight then he was ready. He couldn't let himself believe that Lawr was committing now after all this time.

Lawrence tended to go more passive and relaxed the more other people's anger ramped up, he'd been tense before and on the brink of attacking Melvin but that had only been through the momentary dent to his dignity, now that he had the covers back he felt safe again, no longer exposed in the face of anger. The kiss had irritated him somewhat, crossing a line already that he hadn't wanted to cross at all, though left with the familiar taste of Melvin.
He was not so much hurt as his ego was bruised by Melvin's assertion that he wouldn't last. "You have such faith in me." he said, a little sadly. He did reach out his good hand to Rodney though, gentle and reassuring. "But it's fine Rodney, it's been how we interact for quite a long time. I don't mind it."

"I won't do anything," Rodney said, "I...don't want to fight." He squeezed Lawrence's hand back, very lightly. "I...I just, didn't realize."

Melvin did not buy into Lawr's tone, instead crossing his arms in response. Lawr didn't get to be the one hurt. This was his decision in the first place and if the conductor wanted to sent this train to hell, he didn't get to complain about the heat.
"I had faith but you like proving me wrong. Case in point."
Rodney on the other hand continued to twist Melvin's gut, because even he wasn't dumb enough to hear those words and feel the hard smack of karma in remember how he talked and justified his own actions with Horace and Lawr.
He couldn't believe he thought he could avoid being a repeat. That he wound up just the same.
No.
He wasn't. He wouldn't allow it.
"Seems no one did. I just get to be left carrying the bag and like always, He gets to think he got what he wanted." He gritted his teeth feeling his stomach, which hadn't been a painfully tight knot since seeing the pair, twist sharply again.
"I'm not doing this. Not right now. Have fun coddling your b***h-to-be."
Friwning, he looked at them both one last time, and the malice dropped for something more painfully raw. Turning, he move down the aisles before flipping over a cot on his way out, throwing back the tent flap.
A sharp "What are you looking at?" from Melvin sent a few audience members walking away before the blonde vanished from sight.
