Lex gave a charming smile and settled at Rob's side, willing to be escorted to the punch bowl. "Well, no one can argue against traditional, now can they." Not at all when the results were so completely fine. "Is that what I was tasting?" Lex questioned, taking the cup and tipped their head up towards Rob. "I think it adds a subtle kick to it, though I wonder how doctor up the punch will be by the end of the night." Long Island ice tea level perhaps?

Sylvia had gone back and forth with the idea of going to the Halloween party for as long as word had been spread. On the one hand, getting out of her dorm and into a space with more people would probably be good. Distractions were good. Connections were good. On the other hand, Halloween party. Those had been hit or miss in her history. They could be fun, but they could get rowdy and ridiculous as well. Eventually she’d decided that she might as well go, and could skip out early if it got to be too much.
She took a quick trip home, only staying long enough to gather the items she needed to execute the look she’d decided on and… take an unplanned nap on her own couch. That small hiccup made her run a bit late, but only by maybe twenty to thirty minutes. Fashionably late, right? It would have to do. Besides, she was still on the outskirts of the community here – arriving a bit late allowed more time for familiar faces to gather before her. She didn’t mind making friends with new people in most situations, but something about this environment still made her feel a bit awkward at times.
The walk over to the gymnasium was a bit longer than she would have liked. Her skirt was long, at least, but most of the fabric was fairly light, and her arms and neck were bare – and it was a bit chilly out. It did, however, make the warmth that embraced her when she finally did reach the gymnasium that much more welcome. She sighed as she made her way in behind Misha and Brian, looking around at the others assembled. Most of them were just acquaintances, though she realized that just about everyone was still an acquaintance to her. At least she had come in right behind some people she recognized.
“I see you came prepared.” Sylvia approached Brian as he hoisted his bottle of vodka, standing a bit aside so she could give his costume a good once-over. She nodded in approval, “Good costume.” And fitting, she realized, given his weapon of choice. She wondered if he was the only one who’d taken that into account (or if it had been a coincidence).[ 380 words ] [ Sylvia's costume is described (with references) in the ooc thread~! ]

Brian turned to face the voice that had approached and pleasantly recognized Sylvia. He had been hoping to find someone here to hang around while Misha played the role of hostess. He had no doubt that she was going to be a good one, and that meant he'd have to extract himself from her side when she went off to talk to others. Besides, it was Misha in leather. There were going to be admirers to draw her away.
"Hey," he said, turning to Sylvia, "You look great." Like a proper fairy. He smiled. Then he responded to her compliment to him: "Thanks. I'm only half as sure who this guy is as her." He nodded to Misha. It had just been a full-coverage costume. Women were expected to be in short skirts and men were expected to be punny or shirtless. Halloween was a bit weird. As per his costume, though, he'd just collected some broken arrows for the dastardly fake quiver and, ta-daa. TV super hero. Misha did say he had existed well before the series, but Brian had never been a comic-book guy. He hadn't actually brought his bow, though. It would just be a hindrance, and hopefully nothing dangerous was going to come bursting in halfway through the party. It seemed like the guy with the dreadlocks had brought his sword either way. He had to be cold as s**t with no shirt on, though, accuracy be damned.

Asher's reply was -- well -- succinct. Attention still on the punch, he slowly raised one hand to flip Ed off, easy and careless. A moment later, however, his eyes followed the gesture -- and then he paused, blinking at the vague area of Ed's chest, maybe considering his shirt. More realistically, considering what was underneath it. A moment later, his eyes rose to Ed's shirt and he recovered his train of thought. "You're not the first to crack that joke, and I doubt you'll be the last."

Rob finished his cup as Lex spoke and ladled himself another one. "Hopefully a lot. I know you lot pretty well by now, I think, especially you Hermes people. There's more alcohol in everyone's blood stream than there is blood," he laughed. The gathered attendees cheered, and he looked up in time to see some guy in green with tight leather pants holding up a bottle of what appeared to be vodka. "I rest my case," the Dionysus Chosen grinned. "I think there will be enough booze around here to make everyone happy." Or at least tipsy. Then he noticed Misha, or who he figured was Misha, standing next to the guy in green. "Oh hello. I wonder if that's real leather. Let's head over that way," he suggested, heading off with Lex still attached to his arm.

Lex chuckle and paused slightly. "Mmh, I really can't argue with that and well, if the punch ends up with the same effect of long island ice tea. It will be a very, very amusing night." Lex shifted, giving a slight smirk at the tight leather. Well someone had went all out. "Mmh, is that Misha?" They questioned and nodded, laying a hand on Rob arm, the other holding their drink. "It would only be polite." And well, that was a very tight looking leather, pleather? cat suit.

Ed didn't seem to take the gesture personally. Instead he helped himself to cup of punch, testing for alcoholic content. Finding it satisfactory, he tipped the cup back to drain the contents in a single swallow, then helped himself to a healthier measure. Almost, but not quite missing the point of Asher's focus before he'd raised his gaze. "Oh no, I'm sure you'll be hearing it all night." It came out matter-of-fact, casually agreeable.

Caleb nearly didn't go to the party and had considered opting out to find a drink elsewhere instead. But it was time to put himself out there and meet people, and if there was going to be alcohol, then he might as well. There was going to be alcohol, right? He wasn't exactly one to go all in for Halloween, but he wasn't going to be totally lazy either, so he threw together something out of what he already had in his closet, give or take an item from the store. He wore football pads under a Tom Brady jersey, compression pants, cleats and carried around a fully deflated football. That's right. For Halloween he decided to be an a*****e. After all, why should tonight be any different? The jersey and the football pads were the only items he had to buy from Amazon, and unfortunately it was a little smaller on him than expected, especially with the pads on, which resulted in his midriff being fairly exposed. It wasn't ideal, but he could get past it and grow comfortable once he had a beer in his hand. He went straight for the bar...only to discover there wasn't actually a bar. Well. ********. He looked around for some assistance and headed over to Ed, who he hoped might have something on him. "Is this really a sober Halloween party? Are sober parties really even a thing?" He noticed Asher as well. "Hey Waldo, I found you!" Caleb grinned, finding himself so clever for making that original joke for the first time that anyone had ever heard it - and Caleb normally wasn't so funny.

"You know, I'm not actually sure." Lawrence said, he had been too busy trying to avoid having to lie about his own answer to that particular question at the time to really get a bearing on who said yes to it. The idea that Mercy had however made him all the more curious about the woman's history.
"Either way, she seems nice and certainly I'll introduce you."
He took the opportunity during their discussion to check out all the midriffs and flesh on display around the room. There really were a lot of exceptionally good looking people here.

"Sylvia!" Misha spun on one tall heel to beam at the ethereal fairy who had entered behind Brian and herself. She lifted her hands in delight and pressed them together in an aborted clap. "You look so pretty! Downright magical." Then she chuckled and poked a finger into Brian's side. "And don't listen to Brian. He shot down at least three of my other suggstions before I got him into this outfit. Who knew he was so picky?"

It was probably going to rub Ed's face in -- something terrible -- that Asher blinked at Caleb and then immediately dissolved into laughter. Nevermind that he'd given Ed a hard time less than thirty seconds earlier -- now, and maybe even because of that, it was fun. After just a breath, he blinked up at Ed. "Did you pay him to do that...?"

Ah, Halloween parties. Beth both loved and dreaded them. Nothing could quite live up to the anticipation leading up to it, when one put on the costume and paraded in front of the mirror. But she could never resist putting on a show. She did always seem to pick the wrong theme; when she opted for ruffles and layers, everyone showed up as a skin baring version of the Disney princesses. When she gave into the temptation to squeeze into the too short too low cut Belle gown, well, that was when period accurate Alice in Wonderland showed up to the party. For once, practicality (of a sort) won out over the skank. She opted to go the safe route, a vampire hidden under layers and layers of silk, satin, and lace. Her red dress was embellished with ribbon and beading. She was already warm as she painstakingly applied small fangs to her incisors. But, she hoped, she looked like a knock out. Besides, she needed something long to cover her arms, and the gathered sleeves of the gown did just the trick. Arriving fashionably late, Beth let herself sink into the slow, measured walk of a creature who had all the time in the world. She wondered what others would think of her choice. She was not to wonder very long as she entered the gym and found a knot of her friends just inside. She caught the tail end of Misha's words and said, "Thank you for doing the Lord's work, Misha." She smiled at the silly but spooky decorations. "Both the party and Brian's outfit." She cast a glance over Sylvia's costume and nodded approvingly. The dress was familiar somehow, almost like something out of Marchesa's spring collection, and it fit the fairy girl elegantly. "What a pair we make, hm?"

"Fashionably late" seemed like the fashionable thing to be tonight. Sure, there were already people there, but all of the friendly faces had begun arriving around the same time. He recognized Beth's voice before he recognized her and smiled. Of all of the things he could imagine Beth being, that was not one of them. Were those fangs in her mouth? Well. His friend clearly had a thing for Halloween.
"The Lord's work, huh?" Brian teased. If only they had known what she was trying to get him into. Leather pants were a compromise. "You look awesome." Full-out ball gown on Halloween? Well, why not, if you had the resources?

Misha's eyes lit up at the sight of Beth and she actually gasped slightly before catching herself. Then she chuckled and stepped forward to embrace Beth, heedless of the finery and only concerned with showing her delight in her friend's appearance. "No thanks required, my girls," she answered. "It was my pleasure. Believe me." Then she released Beth and took a step back, settling one hand on a shapely, leather-clad hip. A smirk played over her lips. "I have to say that I'm really happy none of us have gone the Insert Job Plus The S-word route for tonight. It's way more interesting to be creative, don't you think?"

"I do believe that is Misha," Rob observed as he and Lex approached the group. Two other women had joined Cat-Girl and her green-clad escort, a vampire in an elaborate red and black gown and a fairy-queen in her winged splendor. They looked like Beth and Sylvia; actually, they looked hot as hell, though not as hot as Misha. Mrowr. Rob raised his cup and nodded at everyone with a wicked little smile. "Glad to see you ladies could make it," he said to Beth and Sylvia, then turned to Misha. "You really went all out, didn't you? I'm most impressed." He gave her an appreciative little once-over. Yup, looked like real leather, and she filled it out nicely. "Yeah, most impressed. Your date's a lucky man." He took a sip of his drink and raised an eyebrow. "Singular lack of booze, though."
