Biography Luke has lived a pretty much normal life in Gotham, running from thieves and psychopaths, dodging bullets and what not. Luke has always been a smart kid, always playing video games and building anything electronic that he could get his hands on. Growing up in Gotham was very dangerous and his parents knew that, one of the ways to keep their son safe was to put him into a Martial Arts and that they did, the first few months were like hell to Luke but after his body had gotten used to it he was ok with it. One day after practice Luke and his friend were heading out home when they decided to take a shortcut through the park, what Luke didn't know was that in this park his whole life was about to change. While walking a man came from one of the many dark places and demanded that the two young boys gave him their money, Luke's friend being older did not think twice on fighting the man who did not seem to be armed, Luke in the other hand was not so aggressive, he knew that getting a gun in Gotham was not at all hard and if the man was robbing then he already had nothing to lose in life. In the middle of the skirmish right before Luke joined the fray to help his friend the man pulled a gun out and shot Luke's friend, at that moment Luke felt helpless and weak, all the training he had received had not prepared him this, as Luke watched his friend fall to to the ground, he did not know what to do other than run and that was what he did, run as fast as he could, for the next few weeks Luke didn't even walk out from his room, until he found out that being lost in the darkness of his room was not going to change anything.
Slowly Luke regained his lost life, he went back to the training even taking extra classes in Jujitsu, He knew that one day he would be able to help out in some way and that the training would help. The day that his simple life turned around was when he received a letter from Central City University, He had gotten a spot there, soon Luke moved to Central City to get his classes going. Now 21 he lives in the campus, gets his money from streaming his favorite games and has also created a way to help others, the story of Luke has just begun.
Strong blue light, blinding blue light, only a voice could be heard. "Luke." It was calling to me, soothing voice of unknown origins. "Luke." Who is this? And why do I want to follow the voice through the light? Am I dead? "Luke. You are alive, now follow me... I will show you the way." The way to what? Before Luke could say another word the light had vanished and he was falling, no not falling he was flying! Freedom was the first thing to pop into his mind, the air breezing through his face! Wait he couldn't feel the air at all, looking around Luke noticed that he was covered in blue and black armor. "That is me, Luke." The voice once again inside his mind. "I am the Blue Scarab, a hero some might have called me and now I am calling to you." Color me flabbergasted! Luke had been chosen by a strange creature to become a hero! Was he even going to question it!? Hell no! His life had been studies and video games for the past few years and he felt like he was meant for bigger things. before he could experience anymore of his new awesome powers he felt a vibration and a song he knew. WAKE UP! Luke was woken up by his friends testing him to get on the computer to play, Luke was disappointed, he sure wanted to experience the power once again but he guessed he had feel that crushing some kinds in the Rift.

[Weapon information] ○ Blue Beetle Scarab: Presently bonded to Luke's spine, this symbiosis gives Luke access to the Scarab's powers whenever he chooses. The Scarab can, and will, use its powers of its own accord; Luke, however, can override the Scarab if need be. Should Luke fall prey to a mind-altering power, the Scarab will take control of the armor.
[Ability information]
○ Shadow Demon Defense: When one of the Anti-Monitor's shadow demons attacked Ted Kord during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Scarab protected Ted from its killing touch, utterly destroying the creature.
○ Energy Absorption: The Scarab can absorb a blast of energy that would land a human in hospital.
○ Vibrational Frequency Manipulation: The Scarab was able to open the doorway to the Rock of Eternity, which lies outside time and space, for Ted Kord.
○ Independent Animation: The Scarab is able to move by itself for a little distance. It used this ability to attach itself to Jaime Reyes.
○ Flight: The Scarab can fly under its own power.
○ Pincer Blades: The Scarab's pincers can cut through metal.
○ Superhuman Strength: The Scarab's own strength is minimal. However, its armor grants its hosts enough strength to move small trucks.
○ Energy Blast: These manifested as lightning bolts which Dan typically shot from his fingers.
○ Temporal Flux Detection: The Scarab could detect changes in the timeline affecting the Blue Beetle legacy; for Dan, this manifested as a feeling of flux in the Beetles' shared power.
○ Artificial Intelligence: Normally, the Reach's command sentience parameters, stored in a Scarab's database, give a Scarab sentience and serve to make it obedient to the Reach. An infusion of magical energies sometime in the distant past altered the Scarab, denying the Reach control. When the Scarab's infiltrator mode was triggered, the Scarab was able to develop its sentience without being in service to the Reach. It also had the opportunity to access the programming of other Scarabs as well. As a result, the Scarab has its own mind, with full access to its own programming.
○ Symbiotic Synaptic Interface: he Scarab's nervous system is bonded to Luke's, letting the two share their thoughts and emotions. The Scarab communicates with Luke as a voice in his mind. No-one else can hear it.
○ Scarab Mindlink: The Scarab can mentally communicate with Scarabs that have not integrated with a host. It can also interface with Scarabs which have created full infiltrators, although this requires Jaime to breach the infiltrator's armor.
○ Tracking Systems: The Scarab can track anything which produces energy, be it biological, technological or mystical. It can track anyone Jaime met since it bonded with him, from at least seventy miles distant.
○ Scarab Sight: The Scarab can scan the people Jaime encounters, informing him of any major physical conditions (such as pregnancy). It can identify and scan metahumans. It can identify people related to those it's already encountered via genetic analysis. The Scarab is able to identify thought-patterns, enabling it to see if something is sentient. It can identify matching energy signatures, letting it see if the energy patterns were developed from the same basis. It can also see extra-dimensional objects. It is continually aware of the electricity in the surrounding environment. It can perceive magic, see how a magical effect can be dispelled, and see through magical concealment. The Scarab's scans can cover at least a five mile square. It communicates the information it gleans to Jaime in a manner he can understand.
○ Temporal Flux Detection: The Scarab can detect changes in the timeline affecting the Blue Beetle legacy; to Jaime, this manifests as intense static.
○ Network Connection: The Scarab can establish a connection to communication systems, enabling Jaime to speak to the person on the other end.
○ Clothing Manifestation: The Scarab can create clothes for Luke, apparently from recycled waste and skin, which melt when he takes them off.
○ Concealment: The Scarab is capable of concealing itself from 21st century technology (though Skeets, from the 25th century, was able to find it). It can shut off cameras and microphones in its vicinity. The Scarab has blocked a magical attempt to probe it, lashing out at the person who tried.
○ Healing: While inside the armor the Scarab can heal, bruises, scratches and even broken bones if given the time, nothing than can save the host from death unfortunately.
○ Host Reconfiguration: The Scarab can modify Jaime's body to a certain extent (e.g., offering to give him extra fingers), although just how far the modifications can go is unknown.
○ Blue Beetle Armor: The Scarab can create a distinctive suit of armor in response to Jaime's thoughts, or when it deems use of the armor necessary. Once the Scarab dispels the armor, it retracts back into Jaime's body.
○ Superhuman Agility: The armor helps the wearer achieve superhuman Agility but it can't be compared to Superman or the Flash, something more in the line of a super athlete.
○ Environmental Protection: The armor allows Jaime to survive in a variety of hazardous environments ranging from Earth orbit, to the timestream, to the Bleed. It can survive extreme temperature and pressure. It can survive the heat and impact of atmospheric re-entry without seeming damage, even when the earth around it has been turned to glass.
○ Armor Reconfiguration: The armor can reconfigure itself to create a wide array of tools and weapons, including an energy cannon, a sword and shield, a grappling hook, an energy blaster, claws, wings, and a set of large powered blades attached to the hands, over a foot in length, that can shear through tree trunks. The armor's equipment is mutable to a certain extent, most noticeably in the wings; initially, they were composed of the same solid 'carapace' which comprises the rest of the suit, but later, they began manifesting themselves in the form of a colorless, translucent material. Whether this is because of changes in the suit's capabilities, or because Jaime intended the alteration, has not been made clear.
○ Partial Armor Manifestation: Jaime can manifest parts of the armor - like the energy blaster - without needing to manifest the whole suit.
○ Wing Shields: The armor can create a pair of wings, enabling Jaime to fly and hover. They can also double as shields, should the need arise.
○ Jet Propulsion: When in flight, the armor can manifest a 'jet engine', enabling Jaime to fly at greater speed, at the expense of close maneuverability.
○ Energy Manipulation: The Scarab can shape and manipulate the energy it stores for a variety of effects, including energy blasts, energy cocoons, small-scale solid constructs (shields, chains, etc.), and 3-D holograms. Its energy shields can block a Sinestro Corps ring's blasts.
○ Antagonist Adaptation: The armor can tailor its blasts for use against specific opponents (e.g., Kryptonite radiation against a Kryptonian, suppression blast against a mob). The blasts can penetrate a Green Lantern ring's shield. The armor can call up anti-magic effects against magical opponents. By the Scarab's own estimation, it can even develop countermeasures that can take on the Spectre.
○ Energy Bubble: The armor is able to create a temporary energy bubble around Jaime and/or people nearby. The bubble shields those inside from outside attacks, but prevents them from leaving. A Flash who tries to vibrate through it will find themselves blasted by the bubble.
○ Vibrational Frequency Manipulation: The Scarab can negate the vibrational frequencies of extra-dimensional objects, pulling them into this reality. The area of effect of this latter is unknown; it has been seen to affect objects at least the size of Brother Eye. According to the Reach, this should be impossible. The Scarab can also shift Jaime out of phase with the universe, making him invisible and intangible to anything apart from Reach-tech.
○ Bleed Diving: Jaime can shift into the Bleed, the space that connects the various universes. He can utilize the Bleed's unique properties for various effects, such as instantaneous teleportation, or shifting back in time a few minutes to appear in more than one place simultaneously. At best, he has only enough energy to dive into the Bleed three times in quick succession.
○ Translation: The armor can translate Mother Box communication into a form comprehensible to Jaime.
○ Waste Disposal: While wearing the armor, Jaime finds that he doesn't need to go to the toilet, though he does still need rest.
[Weakness information]
○ Green Lantern Corps: The Scarab sees the Green Lantern Corps as the 'enemy'. In Jaime's first few days as the Beetle, the Scarab did everything in its power to get him away from the Lanterns - up to and including shifting him outside the universe. As Jaime's experience with the Scarab's armor has developed, the Scarab has taken a more aggressive approach against the Lanterns, urging Jaime to kill them. The Green Lantern rings, for their part, fear the Scarab, responding in different ways depending on their wielders (e.g. John Stewart's sparks, as if afraid, while Guy Gardner's induced what can only be described as a 'super-migraine', along with an intense desire to kill the Scarab's bearer).
○ Truce With Nature: The Scarab will not hurt nature, or the magical creatures thereof (beings who draw their power from the Green, for example), of its own volition.
○ Alien Sentience: The Scarab's sentience is distinctly alien; while it won't hurt /nature/, it has shown no such reluctance when it comes to humans, being willing to injure or kill them. Fortunately, Jaime has so far prevented it from killing anyone.
○ Reach Tech: The Scarab's armor can be breached by the weapons of other Scarabs. Equally, however, the Scarab is able to breach other Scarabs' armor. Originally, the Scarab was unable to attack the Reach and their technology. Jaime overrode the Scarab's programming, 'reprogramming' it so that it was able to fight the Reach.
○ Magic: While the Scarab is aware of magic, it doesn't understand it. It's able to perceive, absorb, and disrupt magical energies, but little else. As a result, creatures of magic are often a significant challenge. The Scarab can't analyse certain mystical creatures, and so is unable to develop countermeasures for them. When faced with certain other mystical entities, such as the Spectre, the Scarab panics, offering Jaime ever more powerful weapons to take them on.
○ Magnetic Shielding: Strong magnetic fields block the Scarab's ability to track DNA.
○ Dispelling The Armor: Dispelling the armor originally caused Jaime intense pain. As time has passed, however, Jaime has found the process getting easier.

Fatal Flourish [General Information] Name: Hiko Hakim (Pronounced “Hee-ko”) Nicknames: Notorious Titles: Animal Man, Avatar of the Red Age: 22 Birthday: November 3rd Star sign: Scorpio Gender: Male Race: Human Alliance: Hero Personality: In short, Hiko is a city boy who’s heart and soul belongs to Gotham. He’s a product of the city in every sense of the words ambitious, cunning, and rough. Hiko is a very charismatic guy with very little filter to his words. He’s a truth speaker at best and crude at worst. Being infamous for undermining authority figures of all types as he’s beyond caring for titles and social stature. Hiko’s a bit difficult to get used to given his discourteous and vulgar colors. When he’s on the upswing, Hiko is extreme and can be hedonistic. His ambitious nature often shows his sly and witty edge. While he’s no Ivy School graduate, Hiko is very intelligent and capable, especially in social situations.
Like most people, Hiko is loyal to those who are loyal to him even if they are somewhat criminal. Due to this, Hiko dabbles the line a little in regards to good versus evil. He’s not afraid of working with criminals or even employing their conduct to get the job done. While this strikes a nerve with some heroes and especially the government, Hiko doesn’t really care. To him, the ends justifies the means. That isn’t to say that Hiko lacks empathy or sympathy. He’s very good natured at heart but his ideas of justice and heroism are quite skewed. Regardless, Hiko remains optimistic and courageous. He’s dedicated to his craft and does so out of compassion for humanity.
[Personal Information] Height: 6’3” Weight: 190 Occupation: Student Sexuality: Heterosexual Likes: Sports, coffee, working out, barhopping, drinking, dancing, flirting Dreams: Making it big so he can retire his parents. Darkest Secret: He struggles with finding a passion or real purpose for crime fighting. Favourite Food: Hamburgers and fried wings. Favourite Drink: Any cold draft beer. Least Favourite Food: Carrots. Least Favourite Drink: Bloody Mary cocktails. Loyalties: Himself. Intelligence Level: Although he isn’t a genius by any calibre, Hiko is very calculated and smart. He’s socially intelligent and capable of picking up cues both verbal and bodily. He’s also quite good at logical deduction and induction. Dominant Hand: Left handed. Strengths: Ambitious, witty, resourceful, cunning, tenacious, hardy, and charismatic. Weaknesses: Rude, blunt, criminal (to some degree), egocentric, impatient, mannerless, scornful.
Cherished Items:
None
Philosophical/social viewpoint: Hiko holds a very straight forward viewpoint which is the “eye for an eye” position. If someone wrongs him or someone innocent, then Hiko believes that judgement should be passed on them in the same manner if not worse. He isn’t much for socialist movements though. As much as he’d like for reform within society to happen, he doesn’t believe it will without appropriate action and large movement. Until then, he’ll continue on with vigilantism because he doesn’t expect the policing institution to accomplish much on their own.
Religious viewpoint: Religion isn’t a topic of interest for the boy. Hiko is a non-believer. He respects other people’s beliefs though and doesn’t any noise towards them because he simply doesn’t care.
Romantic viewpoint: Hiko dates around and enjoys flirting with other women. He isn’t against the notion of settling down, but he doesn’t think it’s likely given his lifestyle.
Biography Hiko was born and raised in one of Gotham’s poorer neighbourhoods. His mother a Japanese immigrant, while his father a second generation Middle Eastern man. They were a happy family, living paycheck to paycheck but still happy. His childhood is characterized by tight bonds in the neighbourhood and playing in the streets into the early evenings. Needless to say, the boy was socialized through the city’s urban environment and was practically a product of it. He grew up internalizing the values of being street smart, resilient, tough, and placing the value of loyalty on a pedestal. It wasn’t uncommon for him or his friends to get into legal troubles over the years, which is where Hiko really started learning the value of small knit circles.
In highschool, Hiko was fortunate enough to attend Gotham Highschool but graduated amongst the middle of the pack. While Hiko was never wealthy or rich like most of the other students, he rode the athletic programs and their grant money as much as possible to solidify his status as a student. He was a standout quarterback in the state and drew high reviews from multiple scouts. He was also a huge socialite amongst his peers and was a well-known troublemaker throughout the school. The boy too often struck a nerve with teachers and other authority figures. He was much too blunt for their liking and had no filter when it came to making his thoughts known. Nonetheless, his decent grades and consistent win rates in athletics kept him bound to the school. As the administrators found out, winning in sports did good for the face of the school.
From highschool to university, Hiko accepted an athletic scholarship to Gotham State University to play for their football team. For the first few years, Hiko was simply an above average student who had a knack for athletics. By his fourth year at the university, his play on the field garnered him national spotlight as a quarterback. It was during this time that Hiko began seeing a fall out with how he was acting and the repercussions. Stuck in his own stardom at the school, Hiko started acting irresponsibly midway through the season. He would party a lot, study very little, and eventually fall into a spiral that saw him suspended from play. It was around then at the age of 21, where he was at the lowest of his life, that access to the “Red” was granted to him.
Amongst his own depression, Hiko wandered into a dire situation with another student. On a jog to clear his head, Hiko came across a visibly distressed young woman on one of Gotham’s busiest overpasses. The girl was sitting on the edge of the bridge when he stopped to strike her up for conversation in hopes to change her mind on a drastic decision. When she ultimately made the choice to jump in midst of their talk, Hiko reactively followed her over and pulled her close to him, doing his best to use his body as a shield for the impact below. The result of it sent him into a comatose state for the next few weeks. During this condition, Hiko was brought into a spiritual meeting with the Parliament of Limbs, a collective body of Totems (previous Avatars of the Red). The Totems disclosed to Hiko their desire to find a new Avatar after Buddy Baker, the previous Animal Man, had disappeared with the world’s other heroes. They noted that they considered the boy a potential candidate due to his pure innate traits of heroism, but were highly tentative because of his recent mental state and decision making. To ensure that he was the right candidate, the Parliament of Limbs created a scenario where Hiko had to make the most paramount decision that any hero would ever have to. Thus, the situation with a suicidal girl on an overpass was put in play.
While the boy passed the test, he was nonetheless pissed about being used as a guinea pig and quite vocal about it to the Parliament. His reaction wrought forth mixed reception amongst the Totems. While some viewed him as the spunk the next Avatar needed, others viewed him as a ticking time bomb. It was this prolonged debate between the Totems that kept Hiko in a comatose state for weeks. Eventually, they all came to the decision to make him an interim Avatar that could be revoked down the line if he proves too troublesome or if a better candidate comes to being.
With the decision made, Hiko awoke to find himself surrounded by his family, teammates, and friends. While his heroic event was designed by the Parliament, it had nonetheless looked very real to the rest of the world. Though the girl according to witness testimonies “ran off”, Hiko’s act was still considered very valiant and logged by local news for weeks. The act of heroism gave Hiko a renewed chance at football after physical therapy but he chose to turn it down. Instead, he focussed on school and the subtler things in life like his family. He would eventually graduate university with his class and proceeded to enter into a Master’s program for mechanical engineering at the University of California.
Hiko now works towards his degree while balancing the rough life of a crime fighter. .

○ Lena Hakim | Good | Mother Hiko’s biological mother. An immigrant woman from Japan who moved to Gotham with her parents and married Hector. She’s a lovable woman and well known throughout the community that she resides in. She often takes part in social and community movements to help bring funds to the neighbourhood. She teaches at a local kindergarten. She is not as supportive of his life as Animal Man but nonetheless does her best to guide him through the endeavour.

[Weapon information] ○ Weapon name: Weapon explanation and description, Include factors such as range, piercing strength, etc.
[Other item information] ○ Item name: Any item that is neither a cherished item nor a weapon would go here. For example armour, med kits etc. Please include an explanation for each item.
[Ability information]
○ Avatar of the Red: Hiko learned to draw abilities directly from the "Red", an energy field that connects every animal ever to have lived on Earth. Apparently the Red extends past earth and exists as a universal concept.
○ Animal Mimicry: Hiko can mimic any abilities of any animal as a result of his position as the Avatar of the Red. He does this by either focusing on a specific animal near him, or, as he learned later, by drawing power from the animal kingdom in general (this enables him to even mimic animals that are extinct). The level of Hiko’s abilities are not proportional to the size of the animal they are drawn from. Hence, drawing the jumping ability from a flea would allow him to cover great distances. However, taking the abilities of a larger animal does not result in diminished power for him. With enough focus Hiko can also take on physical attributes of the animal, turning into a chimera-like being.
○ List of Known Adaptations:
The strength of a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The flight of a bird. The swimming ability of a fish. The speed of a cheetah. The sonic blast of a pistol shrimp. The sense of smell of a moth. The agility of a snake. The durability of a rhino. The electricity of an electric eel. The regeneration ability of a worm. The wall-crawling of a spider. The stench of a skunk. The color changing of a chameleon. The reproduction abilities of protozoa.
Force Blasts: Tapping into the Red, Animal Man can also fire powerful blasts of force or unidentified energy. (Locked)
Animal Empathy: In addition to his mimic abilities, Animal Man can make contact with animals, empathize with, "talk" to and see their thoughts and memories. This ability to transfer his life essence has allowed him to survive even when his body has been killed. (Locked)
Animal Control: Animal Man can, to a lesser degree, control animals by entering their minds. He can also transfer his mind to living animals of any kind, using their bodies as long as he wants to. (Locked)
[Weakness information]
○ Untrained: While Hiko has access to the Red, his efficiency with it and the transformative states aren’t the best. He struggles with calling the right powers to play that he needs when the environment is chaotic. Sometimes he also struggles with maintaining the powers in the midst of a fight. ○ Only Human: The classic weakness of being “only human”. He is still capable of dying to injuries, disease, and old age.
○ Immaturity: Hiko sometimes struggles with making the appropriate decisions which throws him and others into jeopardy. He’s terrible at following structure and rules, so it isn’t uncommon to see him being sought out by authority and other heroes.
○ Unable to Swim: Hiko struggles with swimming without having to use the “Red” for assistance. Even then, the boy hates being submerged in water and usually panics so much that the abilities are nullified.

Hanecco [General Information]
Name: Charlotte Buchanan Nicknames: Charlie, Lottie Titles: Batgirl Age: 21 Birthday: 9 / 08 Star sign: Virgo Gender: Genderfluid, but uses female pronouns Race: Human Alliance: Hero
Personality: Externally, she's pretty easygoing and carefree but after a more careful analysis, she is always calculating possible outcomes and worrying over possibilities. She tends to act loyal and very motherly towards anyone she "takes under her wing", though she typically acts in a more independent fashion. However, she is very pigheaded and doesn't like to immediately give in to others' advice. Charlie has a bit of a twisted sense of taking care of business once she takes on her alias as Batgirl. Rather than focus strictly on constant patrol, she's notorious for mixing work with pleasure; if there's an opportunity to visit a club on the way or stop at some food joint on the route, you can bet she'll be all over it. But despite this seemingly careless exterior, she's extremely loyal and passionate about her work. She also has a tendency to go a bit overboard with her teasing nature, always tending to show her affections through sarcasm and hints of insults in general. The problem is, though, that this is also how she responds to people she isn't so fond of either.
[Personal Information]
Height: Around 5'8
Weight: 135 lbs
Occupation: Currently a junior in college but occasionally helps with police cases. She also took a part time job as a mechanic on the side as an extra means to make some easy cash.
Sexuality: Pansexual
Likes: → The concepts and theories behind both civil and criminal law → Sunsets and sunrises → Early rising → Getting lost in the world of video games → Newspaper clippings → Being considered the "mom" friend
Dreams: A pretty simple goal, but she hopes to eventually become a police captain. She also really wants the chance to afford to actually live on her own and support herself. A new bike would be nice as well, but you can't be too picky.
Dislikes: → Research reports → Having to heavily rely on others → Being unable to complete a task at hand → Disorganized spaces
Fears: → Failing a bust → Enclosed areas → Reliving past events → Confrontation Darkest Secret: Her family had been caught up in an illegal drug trade for years before she found out as a teen, when they inevitably ended up taking the fall for the entire thing and being sent to jail. Because of this, she had a bit of a "rebellious" phase and got herself involved in one of the notorious biker gangs around Gotham City and has yet to leave them behind.
Favourite Food: Nothing's better than cheap, affordable grocery store sushi.
Favourite Drink: Definitely some old-fashioned cream soda.
Least Favourite Food: Sour candies or bitter anything.
Least Favourite Drink: Energy drinks or anything insanely caffeinated.
Loyalties: Mostly to herself and her occasional partner(s). She works towards enforcing justice in Gotham where it's needed and in the way that she sees fit. Contrary to popular belief, she's extremely wary of the infamous "Batman". Intelligence Level: She likes to consider herself to be pretty high on the intelligence scale, but she finds herself unable to think fast on the run. When it comes to actually applying her smarts, she would need quite a bit of time to work things out before formulating a feasible way of dealing with a dire call to action. She's definitely more of a go with the flow kind of gal in these situations, however she definitely knows her way around street knowledge.
Dominant Hand: Left
Strengths: → Being able to map out the situation for the best outcome, given the time → Brute strength → Background knowledge on the workings of the law (and the ways around it)
Weaknesses: → Fighting without a plan → Typical complications that arise from not being able to fly, shoot lasers, have super strength, and all that mumbo jumbo → Unable to think quickly and rationally at the same time
Cherished Items: → Her beloved corgi named Archimedes. He has been her best friend throughout the whole situation with her parents and she holds him in the highest regard. → A ski mask she collected from her first bust. → Her first, and only, motorbike that she proudly purchased on her own. high regard and an explanation as to their worth.]
Philosophical/social viewpoint: Charlie would genuinely love to believe and stick to the philosophy that the only way to get what you want is through hard work. Only.. She knows the truth in this statement, especially around Gotham. Many of the successful people around that shady town earned their success through either cheating their way to the top or knowing the exact people to kiss up to. It was disappointing to say the least, but there was no use in skirting around the reality of it all. From a social standpoint, she doesn't particularly dislike people, but if given the choice she would rather stick to her own devices. Not having to associate herself with people means that she has less to worry about aside from her own well being. However, if given the right incentive she's willing to make some exceptions to that rule.
Religious viewpoint: Though her parents were never particularly religious, she turned to the spiritual aspects of religion as a means of dealing with the happenings of her past but prefers a scientific approach towards things. She doesn't really know how to feel about divine beings or anything like that without and scientific proof, however she's not opposed to resorting to acts of meditation and spirituality to keep herself grounded.
Romantic viewpoint: She's not currently looking to have romantic relationships but she does hope to find that "special person" in her life to share her burdens with. As it stands, she would prefer to form a close personal connection first before jumping straight onto the romance wagon.
Biography Life had an odd way of coming together, as Charlie would soon become accustomed to finding out. Charlotte was born into the world on a beautiful afternoon in September, surrounded by a loving pair of parents and a mix of outer relatives that only tended to show up for big events after years of never being heard from. As far back as she could recall, she had a relatively normal, happy childhood. Anyone who knew them would easily describe them as the picture perfect familial unit; A simply decorated and moderately-sized housing situation in the outskirts of Old Gotham, two happily working parents, and complete with a spoiled baby girl that was subjected to being fawned over by friends and co-workers alike. Arline Rowe and Malcolm Buchanan were what many people referred to as a power couple. They hadn't originally been all that into each other, however. The two first came into contact with one another through a mutual college buddy that decided it was a good idea to set the two of them up on a ridiculously planned blind date. Long story short; it did not end well. Having not planned to meet with a potential suitor, Arline believing that she had a meeting with an employer and Malcolm expecting a simple night out with the guys, it’s obvious to say that they were extremely uncomfortable. It was only after a few minutes that they mutually decided to end it there. They felt no immediate spark, but their friends seemed to sense otherwise.
Out of all things this awkward encounter did bring about the start of an unlikely friendship. This partnership lasted until graduation, where they eventually made the decision to date. Needless to say they got quite a few I-told-you-so’s along the way. Two years later, the pair tied the knot after moving to a small apartment in Old Gotham and soon after introduced their first and only child into the world. And that comes back to the "happy" childhood. The couple, both graduating with degrees in Organic Chemistry and Human Physiology, managed to acquire alternating shifts at the same drug store as pharmacists. Charlie’s mother would work morning to afternoon where her father would then leave until the next morning in order to assure that at least one of them was home at all times, even getting Wednesdays and weekends off. As expected, this profession racked in quite a decent paycheck, which they used to shower their precious little angel with whatever her heart could desire.
Unfortunately, their profession did also bring about a few misfortunes. Their reputation had traveled beyond the medical community of the area. Traveled as far as into the ears of a few organizers of an underground drug ring that was in desperate need of reliable suppliers. No respectable, hard-working individual would jeopardize themselves for such a petty reason, but these were men who knew what they were doing. Rupert Thorne didn't associate with commonplace fools, after all.
On the way back to his car one morning, Malcolm noticed a small slip of paper tucked into his windshield wiper. He assumed it were some sort of police warning or something, until unfolding it revealed a simple phone number scrawled into it. It normally wouldn’t seem like much but something about the note made him uneasy. But instead of dwell on about it, he simply shoved it into his lab coat’s pocket and forgot about it. That is.. Until later in the week and he was checking his pockets to wash said coat, only to have that tiny piece of paper staring him in the face once again. He finally told Arline about this then, and they chose to call the number that night after tucking little Charlotte into bed.
The response on the other side is the last thing they could have expected and the last thing they could have wanted. As hinted before, they were contacted by a group of thugs that gave them an “offer they couldn’t refuse". In other words: After a few far too close-to-home threats they knew they had no choice but to give in. It had become their responsibility every week to supply whatever over-the-counter drugs asked for at that time by undercover “customers” that also served to monitor whichever Buchanan was in work at that time. To make matters worse, they were later pressured into smuggling more dangerously illegal drugs and housing them until they were then picked up and transferred to the gang’s warehouse. They were paid handsomely for their “service”, but it forced them into a life of constantly walking on eggshells. And this is where the picture-perfect family became more of a facade.
After the incident, Charlotte never noticed but her parents resorted to carefully sheltering her in any way possible; there was no way in heaven or hell that they could let her find out that anything was wrong. She got more gifts than ever but they never let her go anywhere alone and kept constant check on the people she interacted with. She went on like this until her freshman year in highschool, not suspecting a thing but beginning to wonder when her parents had made such a conservative shift.
Unfortunately, her answer came not too long after that. Around her fifteenth year, Lottie noticed something was off when she came home from school one day to find that no one was home. Someone was always home. She didn’t panic though, parents had the right to run errands, right? Right. Those minutes of waiting turned into an hour though and one fourteen-year-old child can only stay patient and sane for so long. A knock on the door spooked her out of her huddled state on the couch, but she knew never to answer it unannounced. Her parents had warned her profusely about that especially. It was until the booming voice of a male yelling “Please open the door, this is the police!” met her ears that she had no choice but to do so. That whole scene is a blur in Charlotte’s memory but she can recall the officer’s careful explanation of her parent’s illegal actions and the recount of what had gone down. It was toned down for the ears of a teen, of course, but she got the general idea. Only later would she find out that her parents were merely sucked into the blame by the very people that got them into this in the first place.
The officers sent to pick her up treated her well enough but she wanted none of it. Her initial confusion had morphed into a state of self-seclusion, which not even the most gentle of words could stir her out of. The police chief offered her a comfortable seat in the lounge and a small stream of people would occasionally check in on her as she silently nibbled on some food. After things seemed to calm down, a sweet faced lieutenant walked her out into the receptionist’s area where she found a familiar couple waiting to pick her up. Charlie had met Corrie and Felix Abrams a couple of times over the years but she certainly didn’t know them well enough to consider them her “parental figures”. They were appointed as her godparents early on in their friendship with her mother and father and now they were taking full responsibility of the teen as legal guardians. Lottie knew she should be grateful but at the time she felt nothing.
Later on that year they had finally managed to pack up all of her necessary belongings and fill out the transfer papers for school and Charlotte was transported back to their house in the City Hall District. She had warmed up to them by this point and was even starting to regain some of her old spunk, but her outlook on life had changed drastically. Her sheltered upbringing had had a somewhat negative effect on her. As soon as she started her new school in sophomore year, she immediately turned to a rebellious attitude and though she kept up her grades, the group of friends she cliqued with were not so popular among the administrators.
Eventually, this same group of friends (easily) talked her into becoming a part of their upcoming biker gang, soon to be known as The Gotham City Freewheelers. They had wanted to start this for a while as she had found out and they respected her enough to make her a key member. Charlotte accepted, only… She was missing a key ingredient. She had no motorcycle. With the help of her godfather, she managed to snag a job in the Financial District as a beginning mechanic. Though it was only meant to be a part time gig for cash, she actually found that she thoroughly enjoyed the task and became quite good at it. The guys at the shop originally were very skeptical but they soon learned to view her as what she truly was rather than a figure of gendered stereotypes; she was one badass mechanic.
After a few months of saving up every possible penny, she finally achieved what she had been after. It wasn’t anything too fancy but an all new shiny black Cruiser was hers at last, which she lovingly names Vagabond. After all what was the point in having a bike if you didn’t give it a cheesy name? Only then did Charlie realize her next dilemma; finding a place to store it was a completely different story. There was no way she could bring it home, being that Corrie was a cop and would never approve. But she couldn’t trust just anyone with the new love of her life. Luckily enough, it wasn’t a terribly difficult task to convince one of her coworkers to stow the bike within the shops when it wasn’t in use and was even kind enough to “grant” her night access to the garage.
Life was taking a great turn. As that weekend rolled around, the Freewheelers had their first meeting. Though.. It was less of a meeting and more of a rowdy tour around the slums of Gotham City. She had given her godparents the excuse of a last minute project that had to get done, meaning she would likely be at her friends’ apartment for a good portion of the night so that they wouldn’t have to worry. She was with her friends, only there was definitely no project involved. What started as a drive through the city then evolved into more of a mini heist sort of deal, each of them splitting up to take small hits on local jewelry and convenience stores. They were petty crimes and Lottie was partially ashamed, but it was the first time she’s felt such a rush in years. The adrenaline was addictive and soon she was participating without a care in the world. This continued on for a few weeks, and they’d actually managed to dodge the authorities for longer than they could have expected.
As could probably have been foretold, their luck had run out after that point and having a GCPD officer as a godmother came back to bite her in the butt. Charlotte had been swift with her work, pocketing a bag of chips and a couple of cheap bracelets without a problem. However, her partners were not quite so swift. As they were making their slow escape a box of skittles slipped out of her cohort’s hoodie pocket and easily alerted the store’s owner of their intent. They ran, of course, but they didn’t get very far. A blur of red and blue lights cornered them a few blocks up the road and they were in cuffs before they could even think about what was happening.
Let’s just say that Charlie will never forget the disappointed look on her godmother’s face when she came to retrieve her from the station’s cellblock. She really did feel awful that she had gotten involved in that sort of business but she felt worse about the fact that she got caught. Corrie made sure to have her partners’ parents contacted and waited for them to be released before she rounded on a very nervous goddaughter. As soon as they returned to the car, the tension could be cut with a knife. It started off in complete silence. Then, slowly, Charlotte tested the waters with some sly comment about how nice the station was. Of course that didn’t go well at all; the first reply she got was the dreaded “I am so disappointed in you.” That definitely hit like a ton of bricks. She even pulled out the topic of her parents and questioned what they would make of this news, which certainly shut her up.
In an attempt to catalyze a fresh new start, her godparents apparently took it upon themselves to hook her up with an internship at the G.C.P.D headquarters in which Corrie worked. They left the paperwork on her bed one night but refused to acknowledge that they had anything to do with it, but Charlie knew. It took a few days of thinking but she eventually decided it couldn’t hurt. At first, since people seemed to recognize her from her previous arrest, the officers sort of looked down upon her. She couldn’t blame them for distrusting her but it did get a bit frustrating while trying to get work done. But after a month of filing cases and running errands around the station, the job really grew on her. It even sparked an unexpectedly new interest in the study of law that would later play a big role in her life. Of course, she never actually quit her gang but she did stop involving herself in the crime-related aspects.
She stayed in this internship up to her highschool graduation, and by that point the employees grew very fond of her. They even found a way of granting her with her own paid position at the station doing more or less the same task while she figured out where she was going to go in life. Once again things were finally starting to look up. During her time away from school that year, she continued both jobs and took to saving up every penny. Between that cash, the money sent to her from her parents, and a bit of generous additions from her godparents, Charlotte finally decided that she wanted to attend Gotham University in the next year as a law major.
That was, of course, completely fine and dandy. However.. The huge change in her life was soon to come. As previously mentioned, the officers were becoming more and more comfortable with her. They started entrusting her with a wider variety of more important tasks. One in particular would lead her on a goose chase for Commissioner Gordon, who seemed to be nowhere in sight. She had an envelope for him, within it important documents to get signed, but no one seemed to be able to locate him. Though.. Charlie had some weird impulse that called her down to the archives. It was almost as if she knew he would be there. And sure enough, there he was. Only he was just standing there; standing there and staring at something in the corner of the room.
Upon closer examination, he seemed to be gazing at a glass case containing some weird sort of cowl. What it was doing there, she had no idea. It did feel in a way.. Familiar. She couldn’t put her finger on it but she’d seen that cowl before. Lottie had startled him as she walked up to get his attention, noting that he was quick to conceal the tear rolling down his cheek but opting to pretend she didn’t see. A man’s dignity is all he has, right? Handing him the sealed envelope, she took the chance to get a closer look at the costume. On a little gold plaque below it read the word “Batgirl” in neatly carved letters. Odd, but again strangely familiar. She was intrigued. And Gordon definitely seemed like the guy with the answers. Nonchalantly, she questioned him about the suit and what exactly the story behind it was, only she didn’t expect the crestfallen expression to come along with it.
The commissioner shared with her the story of Batgirl, a girl by the name of Barbara Gordon, coincidentally his daughter who mysteriously disappeared years back. She learned the tale of this bat-clad vigilante and immediately became enticed. It was an extremely emotional tale, though, and Gordon had to stop a few times to gather himself. Charlotte’s heart truly went out to him and she constantly found herself comforting the poor man. But this she also used this to her advantage. It was a dirty trick, she knew it, but she needed to get her hands on that costume and it was going to require finesse and some major sucking up.
“I’m really, terribly sorry for your loss, Commissioner. Barbara sounds like she was one really awesome daughter and one hell of a crime fighter.” She placed her hand comfortingly on his shoulder then, which he didn’t seem to question. “Your story has really touched me, and I’ve decided something. I want to make sure that all the work she’s put into Gotham doesn’t go to waste. I want to become Batgirl.” Of course he didn’t take that idea well at all, but there was no way she could give up now. A bit more convincing and she had him in the palm of her hand. It was an honest motion, she truly did admire what she heard about this previous Batgirl and did really want to give the Commissioner a bit of peace of mind; But on the other hand the whole vigilante-hero gig suited her fancy.
By the end of the encounter, she managed to finally convince the grieving father to part with his daughter’s legacy. The costume was hers, on the promise that she keeps it on the downlow. No one was to know of their conversation and no one definitely was to know about their deal, and Gordon would keep her secret. That night she immediately threw on the bits of the costume to complete the whole look. It almost felt like she was born to wear it. Everything fit and everything just felt so right. Standing at her windowsill and staring out at the city below, she knew one thing.
Batgirl was back.

Family: ○Arline Rowe Buchanan | Neutral | Mother Charlie had a really close relationship with her mother from a young age, prior to the incident. As many mother-and-daughter relationships were, she would often run to her with any bits of minor childhood drama. Her mother was also the first person to fully accept and endorse her gender fluidity, which was a main source of the young Charlotte's strong self-image. All in all she felt like Arline was her closest companion in her adolescent years, as it wasn't easy to find someone so accepting and (almost) completely neutral towards whatever her daughter might come to consult with her about.
○ Malcolm Buchanan | Neutral | Father She was never particularly close to her father. From what she can remember from her youth, her father treated her with great care. But they never really formed that.. Parental bond. He mainly existed as that dad who mainly showed how he felt by buying her nice gifts. She never complained at the time, of course, but as it stands she wished she would have gotten to know him a bit more.
Corrie Abrams | Good | Godmother / Legal Guardian Charlotte hadn't really liked her godparents at first. Mainly due to her trust issues and fear of allowing parental figures close to her, but Corrie also had a certain authoritative air about her that clashed with Lottie's individuality. She did learn to become more comfortable with her after time went by and even took to joking around with her often. Although she would never admit it outwardly, she is also extremely thankful for her godmother's push towards getting involved with the ways of the law.
○ Felix Abrams | Neutral | Godfather / Legal Guardian Her relationship with Felix is pretty average, they get along very well! He has a tendency to be able to tell when things are wrong and will make sure to engage in little acts of kindness towards Charlotte that she never fails to smile at. One night of sulking, after finding out she'd flunked a test she was extremely confident about, she came out to find a fresh plate of cookies and warm milk sitting outside the door of her bedroom. The next morning she had made sure to thank him, and he made an equal effort towards pretending he had no idea what she was talking about.

[Weapon information]
○ Weapon name: ○ Utility Belt: Although it is a seemingly harmless fashion statement, this belt contains all of the weapons she needs while on patrol. It serves as an easy way to carry around the items that would usually be inconvenient to have on your person. As a bonus, it makes for a sweet phone and wallet holder.
⊹Batarangs: They are sharp, bat-shaped throwing weapons that allow for a quick and non-lethal attack. ⊹Batrope/Grappling Gun: Concealed within the belt, it is a tool used to scale buildings and make fast escapes. ⊹Smoke Pellets: Small capsules of non-lethal and non harmful gas and smoke used to, again, make quick escapes or sneak by undetected before it clears out.
[Other item information]
○ Cowl Lenses: She doesn't exactly know how to use it, but the original cowl she got from Gordon has this feature. It is activated by a button in the cowl, which causes a visor of lenses to cover the eyes of her mask.
⊹Clear Lens: As it sounds, it represents her normal sense of vision. ⊹Telescopic-Vision Lens: This allows her to zoom in and out of objects as far away as 100 feet from her current position and make lookout duty a heck of lot easier. ⊹Microscopic-Vision Lens: A bit like the previous lens, it allows her to get an extreme up close view of things such as evidence (DNA samples and things of that nature), and allow for analysis. ⊹Thermal Lens: This lens is used to seek out sources of heat and/or colder areas in order to better navigate in the dark and detect possible hidden enemies.
[Ability information]
○ Martial Arts: She never exactly had time for proper training, but she'd say she picked it up pretty fast from the few classes she took prior to donning the cowl. She knows dabs of Judo, Muay Thai, and Jiu-Jitsu, but she's the most well versed in the self-defense techniques involved with Karate. This doubles as a good use in civilian mode as well due to just how unsafe the streets of Gotham can be on your own. You almost HAVE to have some defensive background to survive out in the big world.
○ Stealth: As one of the Bats have to be, she knows her ways around the shadows. She uses fluid body motions to sneak about to find the right angles to attack from, while continuing to scope out the situation. This becomes especially useful when working without a partner, where she's responsible for every aspect of the mission at hand. When she has the safeguard of other people on the job, she is still on alert, but it takes a bit of pressure out of the situation as there is someone to watch her back.
○ Brute Strength: Not a very complicated nor very special ability, as it is just as it sounds. Charlie is able to take out a thug with just her fists before their annoying little lackeys even have the chance to think about reacting. This she uses further to her advantage because the typical bigoted minds of these men don't expect her to fight back with such force, so she can play it up until the last moment.
[Weakness information]
○ To Heck with Analysis: Strength being her strong suit, she has a hard time making complete analysis of crime scenes and the like. While she can make note of small things and map out a basic idea of things, she leaves the big jobs to those with an eye for those things whenever possible.
○ Only Human: Naturally, she possesses the normal human restrictions that come along with having a strict lack of powers. Overexertion, fatigue, and limited mobility are all just small pieces of the awful puzzle.
○ Hidden Away: Because of what happened in her past, though she does her best to pretend it isn't true and that she isn't all that bothered, she has minor trust issues and a strong inability to share her true emotions towards things. Because of this, she seems kind of shallow and extremely irresponsible, but it silently eats her up inside.

Biography (Most of what I read on Courtney seemed vague, so I will expand on a possible scenario as the equipment would need to be calibrated to someone confidential).
Courtney did not like her stepfather and often ran out into the streets with other teens. Kelly was one of them, possibly one of her best friends. Rebellious youths, they liked to think of themselves, especially since they snuck out at night only after rigging their bedrooms to appear as if they were sleeping. This was Nebraska, a hick state where most usually went there to become nonexistent. With it being in the Midwest, it got a share blend of country and small time urban. Usually there was not much to do on most occasions, but just walk around. A far cry from saying crime never occurred, but just casually a relaxing environment. So when Courtney discovered that her new stepdad was the adult sidekick to Starboy, now Starman, of course she had to rub it in his face. Kelly helped her design the clothes. None of them knew how well her joke would take off into a career that left Courtney Whitmore now the Legacy of Starman. As her friend, she occasionally helped in the heroics. Nothing too dangerous however that could be considered sidekick status however.
Kelly graduated from High School when it occurred. As her friend, she knew Courtney was now a big time hero, but could never be around a lot with this responsibility. However, they kept in touch, which led to the Royal Flush Gang of knowing that she may live in Nebraska. Courtney, that is. They arrived on the scene, ready to fight this hero. Kelly of course was willing to stand for the town in which they lived, probably like most at that point. The Royal Flush Gang left most of the small town trashed, but Stargirl laid the final blow to Ace. That was not met with some consequences though. Because of the surprise attack, Stargirl herself was seriously injured. Her Stepfather, under his suit of armor as the Hero S.T.R.I.P.E.S. was nowhere to be found from the aftermath, which made Courtney all the more paranoid than she should have been while injured. Kelly got her out the costume and rushed her to the hospital, where it was there something devastating occurred.
She did not die, at least not what she knew. Courtney instead vanished, there the night before, but gone the morning after. It left quite a huge hole in Kelly's heart. She called her through the phone, no response. All Courtney left behind was the Cosmic Staff and other equipment like the Cosmic Belt.It made Kelly personally despise the tools, especially when she arrived to Courtney's home to discover that not only had Courtney just vanished, but also her stepfather. She joined in burying the remnants of these heroes as perhaps they thought that the final attack from the Royal Flush Gang made them leave their lives behind them. None of it made sense, but Kelly was furious more than anything, something she carried with her into her freshman years of college at UCLA, thinking it was fitting that Courtney was from California before moving to Blue Valley and both made plans to go to college there.
She majored in Music with a minor in design. She helped Stargirl make her costume after all. It was only fitting she put it to use. She met new friends, who all had the same passion as she did and a career option began to take off for her immediately from these similar interests. It was the Fall Break when she returned to Blue Valley, Nevada. Not much went on there, but Kelly figured she would at least travel around some of the places she used to roam around, converse with old faces that still stuck around and of course visit the site where she saw Courtney at last. Well the second to last place as the last would be the hospital. She thought she was over some of the bummed blues, but she shed a tear to herself in her room that night. This night would also be the time a new turn would occur for her.
A bright light shined through her window. Kelly thought it was daytime, but when the lifted the blinds, there it was, the Cosmic Staff she had helped Courtney's mother bury. When she opened the window, instantly, it went directly to her hand, calibrating her prints and identity. A fail safe message appeared, the words of Courtney herself.
If Kelly was hearing the message as it told her, it meant that Courtney was now long gone as in dead. Inheriting the title from Starman, Courtney cherished the idea of a legacy, hoping to one day pass it down to her children or someone worthy for it. Kelly was worthy of it as she saw it, so she coded the Cosmic Staff itself to recognize Kelly. It had recognized Kelly long ago when she picked up the staff to help bury it, but by it being in the ground, it took a while to come out. With her being back, it had a stronger connection to pull towards her. What would she choose to do with this responsibility? Bury it for good and not look back on it or make the people pay for what she could only think caused her friend's absence? The latter was more fitting.
Of course Courtney's mother was told the situation when she arrived to take the Cosmic Belt per the instructions. They both were out of the loop on answers and Courtney was going to get them any way she knew how. After Christmas was over, she lied to her parents about needing to head back to California. She went back there of course, but began investing in her career. Investing on this brand.
This included training. Kelly began taking Martial Arts. There was no way she would rely on just the staff. It took her time, two years to be exact until she could say for herself she was ready. She took on small time crooks during that campaign, making a reputation for herself while doing so. Stacking on to her busy life with college and an unexpected contract signing with a record company, she barely took the time to just properly reevaluate her life choices. Being a hero was hard work just like her possible celebrity lifestyle.
The breaking point came when the Royal Flush Gang began raiding banks in California. Already being established as Star Girl from working her career on smaller criminals for three years, it was time to do something. Maybe she could juggle both, but one thing was for certain: She had the powers to do something and to settle a long awaited score.

[Weapon information] ○ Cosmic Staff:: Cosmic Staff is a weapon used by the Starman legacy. Wielded primarily by Jack Knight and Stargirl, the Cosmic Staff is a powerful weapon/device that absorbed stellar energy and used it to create a wide range of abilities which its wielders used to fight crime. This device was invented by Ted Knight, and based on the earlier Gravity Rod. The Cosmic Staff, sometimes called the Cosmic Rod, offered the wielder powers including rapid flight, levitation of objects, manipulation of energy, creation of defensive force fields, and offensive energy blasts of incredible power. Both powers could be used at once, to protect the wielder from atmospheric damage in high velocity flight. Another power of the rod was that it was capable of receiving mental commands from a distance, that became possible when the rod attuned itself to the user over time. At present, the staff is attuned to its current holder, Stargirl (Kelly).
Kelly has learned Bo-Staff training in order to be able to fight with it effectively, which also helped her with dancing.
[Other item information] ○ Cosmic Converter Belt: The Cosmic Converter Belt is based on the technology first designed by Ted Knight, the original Starman. When the first Star-Spangled Kid, Sylvester Pemberton, was rescued after being lost in time, Knight gave him the Cosmic Rod to use in his adventures. Pemberton improved the tech and adapted it for use as a belt. Following Pemberton's death at the hands of Solomon Grundy, the belt was found by Courtney Whitmore, the step-daughter of his former partner Stripesy, who used it to become the second Star-Spangled Kid. Kelly now wears it per Courtney's instructions.
[Ability information]
From the Cosmic Staff:(Note: The Wiki's and Comic Vines are giving me vague implications, so I will try my best to explain properly)
○ Gravity Manipulation: Focused energy to defy gravity, allowing the wielder and others flight. Stargirl can manipulate the Gravity Waves around an individual, making them lighter than air or hard to the point they are weighed down.
○ Magnetic Manipulation: It can attract or repel living beings or objects to/from itself. Acting as a rod of manipulation, Stargirl can hit others with a "harmless" blast. In reality, this is the opposite energy they've been exposed to, making them attract to the energy emitted around her staff just like a magnet. She does not have to do this to metal objects though. She can pull them without having to infuse them with energy from the staff.
○ Deflection: Third Phase to the Gravity Manipulation. Stargirl is capable of emitting a wave that connects to her staff. This wave helps her to deflect various objects sent her way. Bullets? Spinning the staff with this energy in front of her, the bullets will bounce in the opposite direction. Magic or Constructed energy is also capable of being deflected. However, Stargirl can only do this a few times as it cannot act simultaneously with the Defense Fields. Nothing's perfect after all.
○ Defense Force-Fields: Also used in conjunction with flight to protect against atmospheric damage in high velocity flight. She is able to travel into space with this ability, a thin veil usually surrounding her body when travelling.
○ Energy Projection: It can project yellow and red stellar (star) energy blasts. The latter was effectively strong against Kryptonians, being able to negate the energy that they use as if they were under a Red Sun itself. Yellow can also fuel a Kryptonian. Ultimately however, the projection of this energy is for attacks like ray blasts similar to that of a Lantern or
○ Energy Absorption: When always used to absorb stellar energy, it could sometimes absorb electricity to dissipate it. In this case, the staff absorbs energy from the sun itself or the stars around it.
○ Energy Construct Creation: This is explanatory. With the energy this Staff emits, it is capable of making constructs. Nothing too shabby like a Lantern's ring, but Stargirl is capable making domes or shields in this retrospect.
○ Heat Emission: Because this energy itself uses that of the stars, Stargirl's blasts or concentrated rays from the staff itself can emit heat of various degrees. It can be warm like a nice sunny day or it can melt through thick metal within a matter of seconds. It could melt steel relatively easy.
○ Attunement: Ability to attune itself to its current wielder; doing so makes it hard for the staff to become attuned to anyone else. It can receive mental commands from the wielder from certain distances. The staff responds to the user mentally, being able to be far from the individual and yet still being able to return to them, sort of like a Boomerang. It can also act on it's own by this aspect through mental connection. A person not attuned to the staff, be they normal, meta, supernatural or just an alien will suffer from the full energy of the staff itself, capable of repulsing them or shocking them with the star energy itself, which isn't healthy either way.
○ Radiation Detection: Starman (Ted Knight) used this ability to receive "emergency calls" from his FBI friend, Woodley Allen; Allen opened a little radioactive capsule when he wished call Starman, and the hero could detect it from any part of the city. In short, with the Staff, Stargirl is able to detect huge amount of radiation.
○ Dimensional Travel: With her staff, Stargirl is capable of teleporting several distances, but not too far. She was able to travel to the Rock of Ages in some instances, but the new Stargirl is able to blink teleport: With the staff, she is able to appear from one place within a foot radius to another. Often times, she spins the staff around her body, making it appear as if she's just disappearing and using the staff again to reappear somewhere else.
Powers from the Cosmic Converter Belt
○ Solar Energy Conversion: The Cosmic Converter Belt converts cosmic energy (star light) and into a very useful and flexible force. These capabilities puts her at a peak past the Human Conditioning. Enhanced Human Conditioning in a way, but with some slight differences:
○ Enhanced Strength: It enables the wearer to lift incredible weight. In this retrospect, she can lift approximately 1,200 pounds or 0.6 tons, which in itself is a formidable feat capable of sending most packing from a punch alone.
○ Enhanced Agility: move with heightened agility. Kelly is able to move fluidly like a trained Olympic gymnast.
○ Enhanced Speed: With the belt, she isn't a runner clearly. Her flight speed is altered. Stargirl can fly at speeds up to mach 2, able to keep up with jets and of course some of the known flyers themselves. That is until they take it past those limits.
○ Enhanced Stamina: Stargirl's energy keeps her active for long periods of time. She suffers no consequences of being tired or sapped in general as long as the belt remains on her.
○ Shooting Stars: Light forms which disrupt electric devices and organic nervous systems. Stargirl is capable of rendering an individual unconscious this way or leaving them paralyzed. This is a consequence of touching the belt however and not something she can just emit naturally.
○ Aura Connection: the Converter Belt is attuned to the aura of the wielder. Like the staff, this belt will react to a person that is not attuned or calibrated to the object, resulting in a backlash.
[Weakness information]
○ Recharge Protocol: Just like the Lantern's ring, the staff and belt needs to be recharged periodically. Stargirl primarily does this at night when the stars are more prone to appear.
○ Human Clause: She is normal out of the belt and Staff. This means she can get sick like others or seriously injured. This even continues with the Staff and Belt. Stargirl is capable of taking damage even with the gear equipped, especially if pushed past her capability limits.
○ Attunement of Energy: Stargirl cannot use several energies at once. If it's Magnetic, then it's Magnetic. Gravity, then it's Gravity. She cannot use the energies all at once and therefore has to switch according to the specifics.
○ Separation from Staff: This one is quite obvious. Stargirl cannot be separated from her staff. Most of her abilities come from it. While she has a mental link to be able to bring it back to her, she is more vulnerable without the staff around than she is holding it.
