Rats_have_rights Most hippies play it, if you ever want a laugh and find all the hippies in your local school start playing it at lunch, its like a thumbtack to a magnet. blaugh not trying to be militant, but the accual name is "foot bag". . . hacky sack is a brand name, like band-aid, or kleenex.

My English teacher last year talked to us about how we use brand names for things. Like if we need a bandage, we ask for a Band-Aid; if we need a tissue, we ask for a Kleenex.. etc.

Hannah Jade My English teacher last year talked to us about how we use brand names for things. Like if we need a bandage, we ask for a Band-Aid; if we need a tissue, we ask for a Kleenex.. etc. i get rather irked when people do that. i am forever correcting people, though i know it's kinda rude. i guess we all have our pet peaves. it's kind of funny though, when someone's bleeding and asking for a band-aid, and all i can do is glare at them and say bandage.

I never knew there was one name for it, I just thought it had multipal names...kinda like how weed can be called mary jane, trees, chronic, ect, ect, ect...

That's not an unreasonable pet peeve supposed crime, and actually I kind of agree with you. I really would call it by its proper name, but it was years before I learned that Hackey Sack was a brand name. Also, I figure it would be too hard to try to convince everyone else who plays with me that making the change would be worth the effort. Better to just chill on it myself and not be creating unneccesary friction in the circle, y'know?
