"More secrets?" she said softly, disappointment tinging her voice. She set the pendant back on his chest and continued to lean over him, orange tips of her hair gently brushing onto the skin of his chest. "Alright."

"She is dead now, anyway. The cage is broken. It will only be a matter of time now," Shun muttered. His gaze shifted from the ceiling over towards her as he spoke.

She put a hand on him. "What? That's- what?"

He glanced at her hand, "The cage. For the enemy. It is broken now."

Chel shook her head. "Shun ... what did you do?"
She remembered conversations during the ball; killing Adoelle would help release the seal on the cage. If Shun broke the cage ...

Her hand slid up towards his neck, thumb resting under his chin. "I'm sorry." She had no reason to be; Shun was all but admitting to murder in an admittedly shady fashion and yet ... she couldn't help but feel some ounce of worry about him. With all he'd been dealing with, had he snapped? Had he been forced?
She wished he'd just tell her. It was hard trying to figure him out. "Are you okay?"

Shun didn't move much when her hand went up by his face, though he kept his gaze locked onto Chel.
"Why are you apologizing?" he asked. She hadn't exactly done anything. Unless she was planning on strangling him right about now. But that was another issue in of itself.
"I am fine."

"I still gotta ask, y'know. 'Cause I care and whatever." She traced his chin a few times, thinking idly. "Did they ... was it at least a nice- ... death?"
She didn't feel good asking it that way. She didn't feel good asking about it any way. Just what had Shun done?

"It was swift. No unnecessary suffering involved," Shun answered, closing his eyes halfway as she ran her finger along his jawline. He shifted himself a bit and rested a hand onto her side.
"This will very well be our last chance at the Enemy. We cannot fail."
He really didn't want to use that contingency plan. He really did not want that to happen.

"Then m'sorry you had t'be the one t'do it," she told him, which was earnest; she was sorry anyone had to do it. Worse than that, she was sorry it had to be done at ******** magic. She still didn't understand it but she had yet to see a single good thing come out of it.
"You won't fail," she assured him. "I know yer just gonna say you don't know that, but I got a good feelin' this time." She wasn't worried about failing. She was worried about Shun losing himself in the process of succeeding.

"Someone had to do it. Whether me or someone else, that does not matter. It had to be done, unfortunately," he quietly said. It was messed up. It sucked, but the other options they had weren't really all that much better. Even if Zac had managed to take Heliodora's place, as he apparently planned, it just would have meant Zac had to be the one to die instead.
"I hope you are right. If not, all of this would be for nothing. We have to succeed. By any means necessary."

"Whether or not someone had t'do it ... you did do it. I don't think I coulda." Chel's was more of a concern that she wouldn't, but she didn't say as much. "It's done."
She wondered if Shun was really fine with it. Which was a worse thought; that he could kill someone and be completely fine, or that he killed someone and was keeping it all to himself?
"Maybe not any means," she cautioned quietly. She watched him closely for a moment, her hand moving to his hair so she could comb it in a soothing way. "You don't wanna become the bad guy in the process."

A low hum escaped him as she began to brush through his hair, and his eyes closed for a time. Yes. What was done is done. As far as how much this bothered or didn't bother him, it didn't show. His emotions were locked up behind that neutral expression he almost always wore.
"Sometimes sacrifices need to be made for the greater good. My hands are already dirty. If I have to continue soiling them to ensure things come out alright in the end, then so be it. Maybe no one else will have to."
It didn't matter to him whether or not he became the 'bad guy'. He never considered himself to be a 'good' one in the first place.

Chel blinked a few times. That was cute. Shun doing a cute thing. Bizarre.
"Yeah. I get that." She did. She always shouldered other peoples' burdens and covered hers up. They were similar people, oddly enough. "I'll try an' find stuff t'help you. You shouldn't have t'do it all by yerself."
Her eyes fell down to the pendant again. "I think ... you should lock that up somewhere an' leave it be."
