With Chris being so low to the ground, and her buckler not being exactly a reach weapon, Songtao took a moment in battle to reconsider her battle strategy. Sure, the alligator was a tough b*****d, but it seemed like Izzy was taking the brunt of the damage he was dealing out.
His movements were slowing again, so she decided now was a good opportunity to sprint over to Izzy and protect her, at least while she got out her cures. Songtao hoped Izzy would have a brilliant solution for getting one into the alligator's snapping jaws without losing an arm.
On the other hand, at least they has a prosthetic maker.

"Huh?" Izzy's ice-cold jibe at him went right over his head and straight to curing Chris. "Yeah, you got those cures! I'll distract him, you two protect her, and you," he pointed at Izzy, "um… maybe you could stick one of those roll-things on the end of your spear and shove it into his mouth that way. Better than getting your arm chomped off, innit?" He grinned at the other Chosen, pleased that he had come up with what seemed like a viable plan that would get Chris back to human and not hurt any of them.
The alligator who was Chris stopped charging at them, and Rob saw his chance. He brought the greatsword down hard on the Poseidon Chosen's heavily scaled body, actually burying the edge of the blade in a thick back ridge. Chris reacted with a loud hiss, opening his maw wide.
"Now!" Rob shouted. "Now's yer chance!"

Sylvia nodded at Izzy and glanced at Songtao. Either one of them could try and defend Izzy to get the cure into Chris. It seemed she was their only hope as far as cures went. Izzy’s jibe made Sylvia smirk a bit and roll her eyes despite herself. As long as the confrontation could be executed in words and didn’t distract her too much, however, Sylvia was going to do her best to ignore it.
At least Izzy got in a good hit, though Chris was having no trouble dealing damage back. Misha, on the other hand, seemed to be having very little luck approaching the gator and getting through his defenses. Songtao was able to block Izzy against another hit from Chris, but then he seemed to be simmering again, calculating his options rather than striking. Rob’s suggestions weren’t bad – so long as Chris actually opened his mouth and let them stick a cure in. Sylvia nodded at him as she moved in front of Izzy. If and when Chris decided to retaliate against their attempts to fix him, she would be ready.

Izzy didn't get Rob's reaction - she thought he'd be more defensive. But Sylvia had moved to shield Izzy completely from the gator, so there was no time to wonder. This gator had a cycle, and it was about to wake up and get smacking mad again.
Problem was, it was snoozing with its mouth shut. Izzy's cures bounced in her jacket pocket as she crept close to the gator, ready to bolt back behind Sylvia's shield at any signs of life. It made her skin crawl, but she had no choice but to put her fingers at the lips of the gator, and try to jam its mouth open. It wouldn't budge, mostly, but when she thought she had an opening on her left hand side, she grabbed a cure in her right and tried to jam it in its mouth. But the gator woke up at that moment, and snapped at Izzy. She leapt back in shock, losing the cure in the process. She eyed the beast coldly, from behind Sylvia's shield.
"Well," she said, her voice bristling in defense against the embarrassment she felt, "let's make it so I get another chance."

So the cure missed but it was worth a shot, right? Misha edged towards Izzy until she was slightly in front of the annoyed young woman. She shot a sympathetic golden-eyed look at her. Then she drew back in a fresh crouch, gauged her angle, and launched herself without thinking at Chris.
His angry snarl and the whip of his tail threw her back a couple feet but she managed to score claws along his thick hide in the process. She twisted in order to land neatly. Shaking her paws one at a time, Misha drew further back from the angry turned Chosen.

"Izzy need more protect!" Song yelled to Sylvia, gesturing up and down to indicate Sylvia's tower shield, hoping to get across the idea that Sylvia was to shield Izzy on her own.
"I will shield," Songtao eyed Rob skeptically, "this guy." Izzy's antipathy towards the blond Brit had not gone unnoticed by Songtao, so she had her doubts. But said blond brit also had a huge damn sword, which was a plus. Moments after she spoke, Chris seemed to anticipate her intentions and dashed for Rob. Song, however, was ready, and blocked the bite with a whack to the Turned's schnozz.

Rob stared at Songtao, then shrugged. If she wanted to protect him, he wasn't going to complain. He remembered what Ernst's shield had done for him back in the Alps, and even though Song's shield was much smaller, it still afforded some measure of protection.
With a growl Rob swung at the Chris-igator; this time his blade bounced harmlessly off the gator's thick hide. "s**t," he swore. The big reptile hissed, his mouth gaping open. Perfect opportunity missed.

Izzy’s cure didn’t quite make it into Chris’s mouth. It was unfortunate, but at least it wasn’t the only cure they had. Sylvia nodded at Izzy’s reaction, “I’ll do my best.”
Misha finally landed a decent hit, claws scraping into the gator’s rough skin before she landed gracefully on the other side of him. Alas, she was the only one, as Rob tried to swipe with his sword and apparently found a particularly tough patch of the gator’s armor. Luckily, Songtao was ready for Chris’s retaliation and kept both herself and Rob safe.
Chris was hissing again, and seemed to be waiting. Sylvia adjusted her shield again and looked back at Izzy. “Ready for another try?” She turned back to eye Chris, bending her knees and waiting to see if he would try to strike again.

Despite their best efforts, Izzy was still unable to crank open Chris's jaw. He snapped at her and made her drop another cure into the dirt. She still had five more, but she had a serious case of eye twitch, and there was no telling whether or not she might just kill Chris after he turned back to a human.

Hey guys! this thread is really dragging, and we want to move along to the finale this weekend -- and so I'm putting a time limit on you. Please, please try to get this done by Friday at midnight EST. I suggest that you guys give up on post order and just post when you're around/when you can.
If you don't finish by that time, I'm going to open up this thread as a free-for-all that anyone can jump in to join, to get it finalized before the grand finale Sunday.
This really was proving a lot harder than it should have, Misha thought. Chris was a big, scary alligator, yes, but they were not exactly complete wusses. Besides, there were more of them than him. Most of them even had opposable thumbs! She paced to one side a few steps, looking for a new opening. Then she paced back the other way. The swamp sucked at her paws, sending shivers up her spine.
Hissing with frustration, Misha attempted another attack on the resting gator. The mud and water continued to create problems for her, however, and she barely made contact.
Rob ignored what was going on around him. His entire focus was on the alligator who was Chris, and getting the turned Chosen subdued and a cure shoved down his gaping maw. Again he took a swing at the dormant reptile, and again his blade bounced ineffectually off the tough ridged hide.
Chris's head suddenly whipped around, his mouth open in a menacing hiss. "Will one of you cram a cure down this guy's throat already?" Rob barked, jumping back out of reach of those jaws.

"I don't see you doing anything worthwhile!" Izzy yelled back at Rob. She screeched in aggravation, and tried lobbing her spear at the gator, since her cures weren't working out. Turns out her bout of rage didn't help her aim a ton, since the spear ineffectually stuck in the mud a half-foot from the monster.

Sylvia almost whimpered when the second cure hit the dirt. She couldn’t blame Izzy – Chris was currently a terrifying creature and he wasn’t making it easy for Izzy. Gators, if she remembered properly, were great at snapping their mouths shut, though not as great at opening them.
Misha seemed to lose her footing again as well, and Rob wasn’t being helpful. Literally. He was doing very little damage, which he had chastised them for earlier, but he was still yelling at them to get something done. As if they hadn’t been trying to get a cure down Chris’s throat anyway. Sylvia almost retorted, again, but hissed out a sigh instead. Rob was taking frustration out on them, and as much as she wanted to throw it back in his face, it wasn’t worth it.
Besides, Izzy was mad enough for the both of them, and turned it back on Rob anyway. Unfortunately, she then also failed to make a significant impact with her spear.
“Okay.” Sylvia pointedly looked at Izzy, “Forget him. Ready for another go?” It was better to focus on trying to solve the issue at hand, she thought. Hopefully. She was going to do what she could, at least. She lifted her shield to show Izzy that she, at least, was ready, before turning back to prepare for Chris.

"Neither are you!" Rob retorted at Izzy, his temper rising with frustration. "How bloody hard can it be to toss a bloody cake roll or sugar cube into an alligator's mouth?" Swinging the sword again, it once more bounced harmlessly off of Chris's hide. "Especially a mouth like that!"
Not paying attention as much as he should have been, Rob yelped in surprise when the big gator nipped at him, grazing his ankle with sharp teeth.
