"Oh, true." Shadiya hung her head with a light flush of shame on her cheeks. Even though her uncle had been a cruel man at least she hadn't ever been in the position of slave. Just thinking about it made her heart clench for Dexurn. Her family had been kind, but even they had owned Matori before the war. The girl closed her eyes in frustration. How was it that she could even complain considering?
"No, no." Shadiya shook her head before reaching over to grab both of Dexurn's hands, "I think it's a wonderful idea really. I'm just nervous I suppose." She gave him a shy smile, "I just don't know where to begin planning or what to focus on first. I'm still honestly getting used to the fact that we're...you know, together." She laughed quietly, "To think we were traveling together for so long, but it's only now that I feel like a shy child at times."
"Would...you mind walking a bit, Dexurn?" The woman glanced over towards him as she squeezed his hands one last time, "I'd like to stretch my legs a bit more. Don't worry, I'll lean on you if I feel weak. Deal?"

He could hear the shame in Shade's tone, and gave her hand a squeeze. He hadn't intended to make her feel bad..but what clearer way was there to explain why his heart was set on a house one day? He carefully smiled back, hoping she wasn't praising the idea just to make him feel better. Besides, now that he thought about it.. they really hadn't given their married lives much attention. They'd just spent the time falling in love...
Walk already? Ugh! Now he was certain he'd upset her! "Sounds like a deal I can agree to," he said lightly, standing up before helping Shade after him. He paused a moment to look out at the water though. With his boots in one hand, and Shade in the other, he was hit with another shocking realization. He was a free man. ..That fact was probably going to shock him every time he took a moment to actually think about it, as it had since he'd walked away from his childhood prison.

Shadiya smiled up at him, "Just for a little bit and then we can sit again." Honestly, he'd probably want a seat after what she was going to attempt and tell him. The thought flushed her cheeks again as she began to walk along the shore. Her boots weren't on her feet and so the Oban was enjoying how the sand -warmed by the sun- felt on her bare toes. "Do you mind Matori or should we go back towards Sauti?" She asked quietly as she walked with her hand in his, "Either way I'll be fine with a home - though I do enjoy the sounds of the ocean at times. Sauti is still nice for everything as well...it's a hard decision honestly."
As they walked Shadiya noticed some shells and so she let go of Dexurn's hand so that she could pick up a few. Mostly two big ones and two smaller ones that glimmered in the sunlight, "So Dexurn...let's play a small guessing game. Okay?" The woman turned towards him and after a pause slowly opened her hand to reveal the shells, "Say that these two bigger shells can represent us...but there's also these two other shells -or even one or three maybe- as well which are tinier and look a bit of a mix of the two bigger shells..."

Matori or Sauti... "I dreamed of Matori all the time as a kid, imagining it was the happiest place to be..." He glanced at Shade and smiled. "A lot happened here. So, as long as you're with me, it still can be the place I dreamed of.."
Dex cocked his head as Shade held up the shells, brow rising slightly. He didn't understand, but he would play along. "Okay..? So, one big shell is you, and the other is me." He touched the shells lightly to show he understood. "Then there are smaller shells that look like a mix of.. of.." Cogs slowly clicking along in his brain, his eyes looked to Shade's excitedly. Not that he thought anything was going to happen right away, but if she was saying she would like children one day-!! "Shade?"

Shadiya beamed towards him," Who knows? Maybe we'll end up rotating. Can have a summer and winter house, right?" She teased lightly though her mind was already swirling with ideas. Could they settle here? It seemed like a dream almost...when was she going to wake up? I hope I don't, truly.
Watching Dexurn brought a smile to Shadiya's lips. It was fun to watch how the pieces came together and even more fun to see how the next tidbit would cause him to react, "Yes? I mean...it could be that we adopt a lot of perzi or something, but then again they would have to look an awful lot like us." She flushed lightly, "I suppose that house of yours is going to need to be a bit bigger than expected, Dexurn...and perhaps even a lot earlier than we thought." With the thought her hand drifted slowly down to her stomach as she glanced nervously away. What was he going to do now?

Dex laughed with delight at the idea of two homes. He wasn't sure he would be able to handle that!
Perzi? What? Goodness, Shade did enjoy teasing him... A bigger house? Earlier than thought? He was about to tease her for being so cryptic when he saw her hand move, and hesitated a moment to stare where it had stopped.
The steadily moving mind cogs shrieked to a halt one second, and then they were rolling faster than Dex could keep up with. "You're.. pregnant?" he asked breathlessly, backing away a step in shock. A child, or children, were growing inside Shade. His children... with his wife... After opening the doors to his dreams, both realized and unrealized, another big dream started to cross itself off of the list. Children. His own flesh and blood.
Without realizing it, he dropped down to his knees and hugged Shade's waist, gently pressing his face to her fertile belly. Tears that couldn't be stopped slid down his cheeks, a sob of utter joy escaping him before he could get it under control. "I love you so much, Shade," he murmured, gently pressing kisses to her skin. It wouldn't take too long for that skin to become stretched and taut with child... their miracle...

At his realization of her pregnancy, Shadiya shyly nodded. "I- I am." She whispered quietly before peeking up at him. Was he upset? Her stomach was a knot of butterflies, but then the next thing the woman knew he was kissing her. Truly touched by his reaction tears of her own spilled down her cheeks as she reached a hand down to pat his head, "I love you too, Dexurn." Her fingers played with his soft hair as the realization slowly began to sink in on her as well.
She was pregnant and they would have a family soon....a little one or more who would be a mix of the two of them. A soft smile lit up her features. Truly this was their hope for a better future, "Let's make that home soon, okay?" She whispered as she got on her knees so that she could wrap him in her arms in turn.
Tonight they could just enjoy the feeling of being together and the ocean, but tomorrow they could begin planning...planning a home for the little ones that were on their way. As tears trickled down her face and she kissed Dexurn Shadiya truly couldn't be happier.
