Another whipstrike, another blow from Olivia's hooves that knocked Diryas down and made him have to roll out of further harm's way. Winded, he took a moment to get back up once he was out of immediate trampling danger. He could hear the others talking about a cure, and he was all for trying it. Anything that kept them from having to whittle Olivia down by power of attrition alone was worth at least an attempt, in his opinion. She was powerful, and he didn't have any--to him--realistic confidence that even the group of them could subdue her.
And if they accidentally killed her like they had the other one...
He couldn't think about that right now. Getting painfully to his feet, Diryas sized up the situation, trying to calculate a more effective angle to try his whip with.
Character Name:Diryas al-Baksh Brief description of character: seemingly the dictionary definition of "quiet loner type" who doesn't tend to speak much unless spoken to, unless it's about chemistry (having a phD in it requires passion, after all); petit in build and not the most athletic but willing to work around it.
A whip would've been useful about now, she thought as mournful eyes contemplated Diryas's weapon. It was the same type as her own but she couldn't have used it even if she'd borrowed it. And there was a reason she'd avoided the close-ranged daggers and such, which unfortunately were the closet thing to relate claws to. If she could've just transformed at will, she'd have been set. Assuming she'd remain clothed and armed.
Furry ears flicked at the talk of a cure and she found herself once more wishing to be able to converse. Especially as they seemed to be doing kind of terrible. It didn't help matters that the horse known as Olivia was doing what all horses did, refusing to cooperate. And it was no different as the beast turned quickly and Marisol only managed a stray scratch before she was out of range.
An upset yowl sounded from the cat's maw and she glowered down at the others. As if to commanded them to get the damn creature settled so they could try this cure idea. It was now or never and she really preferred now. The fun was wearing thin and she did not want to be a feline flapjack.

Sidney watched Mathilda leap back into the fray with a wistful expression as she rubbed her leg, her eyes traveling downwards before she shook herself back to reality with a mischievous grin.
A grin that didnât last long, though, seeing the blade cut the horse. The horse that was Olivia. A person, and one she had sat and talked with. It was uncomfortable to see her scared, hurt and bleeding.
s**t, they really needed to figure out a way to subdue her, rather than continually hurting her like this. It wasnât helping calm her, and at this rate, theyâd be knocking her unconscious rather than taming her. Mathildaâs call that she had some cures brought a new, considering light to Sidneyâs eyes and after a moment of though, she shrugged out of her leather vest as she leaned her bow and quiver against a tree.
âHopefully you have better aim in bed, or I feel bad for your lover!â Sid teased Zeb as she slung her vest between her hands, holding the top while the hem dangled. She might be a bit busy, but never too busy for a good jab. God, this was a stupid idea, though⌠but that horse was too big and too wild for Mathilda to have a chance of forcing a cure down her throat without help. Still, if they managed it, this fight would very quickly be over and everyone would suffer less damage.
Clad in a clingy camisole and high waisted cut offs, Sid bounced on her toes and tensed. When Olivia darted by, she jumped at her, the vest raised in an attempt to cover her faceâŚ. Which was honestly the stupidest ******** idea and Sid had no idea what she was thinking as the horse shied wildly and swerved in the other ********!â Sid barked as she stumbled to a halt. âCome on guys! We have to get her head down so Mathilda can get a cure down her throat. Anyone got anything we can get over her eyes or something?â
They led horses out of burning buildings by covering their eyes, right? Maybe it was calming, or something. ******** if she knew.

Mathilda grimaced as the other Chosen almost got trampled on. She had harmed the horse a bit simply to slow it down, but Olivia was still kicking, literally. Huffing, she rammed herself again against the horse, using the blunt, flat part of her blade to create a bigger impact. Bouncing back after the hit, she cursed as the horse kicked and hit her right leg.
"Yea. If anyone can get the horse dazed, I can attempt a potion!"

This horse could really, really pack a punch. Or a kick. Whatever. That poor margay...
Fighting back his instinct to go over to Diryas, he kept his stance towards the front of the group, shield up. The horse was fast, weaving and whipping between them all and smashing against those who were attempting to subdue her. This cure definitely sounded like a better method, but they needed to figure out how to get to a position where they could even use it first
Sidney's remark made his brows shoot up for a moment, before laughter spilled out. "Dise!" he shouted over the din of battle, "ya think I got good aim?!"
It seemed Sidney was going to try and blind the horse, which admittedly wasn't a bad idea. Taking away the vision of a horse could sometimes help soothe them, right? Not that he was a horse expert.
Deciding to try something himself, Zebulon got a bit closer to the Olivia Horse and threw his shield up, attempting to block her view so she couldn't see what Mathilda was doing. Maybe it would be effective?
Character Name:Zebulon Castaneda Brief description of character: Zebulon accompanies his even temper and clear mind with an oft-frustrating tendency to be snarky even in the most serious moments, needling people far past the point he should. His normal ease seems lessened at current, though his control over himself is back now that he's removed enough from the conflict with the metal vulture.

Zebulon's words did make it over to him, and Diryas suppressed a sigh, shooting his husband A Look. This was neither the time nor the place, honestly, and he deigned not to comment on the implication behind the question. He was sure his silence said enough, and his ears did burn just a little.
Diryas was just fine with Zebulon defending someone else--it made strategical sense to do so, after all. For his part, Diryas was going to try to provide a distraction of his own. Between all of them, hopefully Olivia wouldn't attack the person giving her the cure. It was for her own good, and all.
He would have much rather been doing more damage himself, but at least this strike was stronger than the last. Olivia's retaliation knocked him back, but Diryas got back to his feet as quickly as he could. Zebulon had a job to do, and Diryas didn't want Zebulon to worry about him while he did it. He still had plenty of fight in him.

The mare seemed to be tiring but not enough for it to count. Even as she darted in, rearing up to attack, she could see how the hooves were beginning to stomp down harsher as she gained speed. It meant that the attack barely caused more than a scratch and she dropped back to all four paws as the horse moved away in its haste.
She couldn't communicate as effortlessly as the others which made it impossible for her to help with a plan. Whether they tried to use a whip or tried to slow the horse down, they had to get a cure down Olivia's throat. Or risk injuring more and while she hated the idea of the latter... At this point it was her or them.

The others rushed Olivia, doing their best to battle her without doing too much damage. Or most of them, anyway. It was hard to pull punches against something so big and fast and strong. Sid felt sort of helpless and more than a little stupid standing there waving her vest about. Zebâs return shout made her grin crookedly, but most of her focus was on what they were doing.
Olivia just had to get close enough for another tryâŚ
Finally her moment came and she lunged forward, throwing the vest up as Olivia charged, her head down as she bucked and kicked. To her surprise, she actually managed to get it over her, effectively covering her from eyes to muzzle. Of course, now Sid realized she had her arms around the head of a wild horse and she fought back panic.
What the ******** am I doing?
âTHIS WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO GET THAT CURE DOWN HER THROAT, MATTY!â She shouted, struggling as the horse threw her head up, nearly lifting Sid right off her small feet.

Mathilda cackled as she weaved around Olivia. This was probably one of the best fights she had gotten into in a while. When one of the horses hooves came for her, she planted her hand on Olivia's flank and flipped over the beast, helping gently bring the horse down on her trip back down.
"This is fun!" Bringing the horse down a bit more harsher than necessary (they needed her a bit dazed in order to not get hit again), she locked her legs loosely around Olivia's neck and pulled a vial from her bra.
"Woo. Kind of glad I moved it from my thigh before I decided to fight. Didn't think this would come in handy this soon."
Popping the cork off, she helped Sidney remove the vest and carefully pry the beasts mouth open.
Zebulon caught Diryas's Look(tm), of course, but it didn't seem to particularly shame him.
Instead, a devious grin crossed his face for a few seconds, and he offered an overdramatic wink when he picked up that the other might have been a little embarrassed. Because of course he would.
Ultimately, Diryas was right, though: this really wasn't the time for this. Olivia's fight was weakening, but not quickly enough, not with things like a margay attempting to fight her. He steeled himself and made sure to try and move with the nearly maniacal Ares Chosen (she was definitely enjoying this battle) until she slipped closer and out of range of his protective abilities.
Sidney's method appeared to work, since Mathilda was able to get in close and pour the cure down the horse's throat.
He stared, dropping his shield to watch the cure go to work, curious as to how it worked entirely for scientific reasons. That was probably why he kept his eyes locked on the now cured Olivia for perhaps a few seconds too long before shifting his gaze elsewhere, namely to another one of those cure flowers. "Good job guys!"

Diryas was, admittedly, a bit startled when Sidney jumped onto Olivia and, well, administered the cure. An unorthodox method, though he supposed it was an effective one. It was enough to distract him from how insufferable Zebulon was being--not that Diryas would have him any other way of course--and Diryas came to a stop to watch what happened.
It did not occur to him to avert his eyes when Olivia became Olivia again, scanning her visually to make sure she was not grievously wounded from the fighting they'd been doing. To put it succinctly, she would live, so Diryas relaxed and looked around at the rest of the Chosen. In the process, he saw another of those interesting flowers and stopped a moment to pocket it.
Alright... now what?

Marisol breathed a soft mew as the horse transformed into a familiar woman. With a louder feline purr, she walked towards the blonde before rubbing against her calf as if to give a voice that she was glad to see her. It was really all she could do, still caught as a margay.
Assured Olivia was all right and that the others could lead the woman back, she began to slink away. She'd been gone a lot longer than she'd thought and she didn't want Rose to be worried if she'd noticed her absence. As she left, there was a white flower that refused to dislodge from one of her claws and so she continued on, shuffling awkwardly.

âFunâ was really not the word Sidney would have used to describe what they were doing, but then, she wasnât an Ares chosen. She clung to the struggling horse with all of her desperate strength, wrestling her head down for Mathilda to get the cure into her mouth. She remembered her own experience with it, and when Oliviaâs form began to shrink and change, she was ready with that vest of hers to hold it over the womanâs chest. It wasnât much, Sid was a tiny woman, but it was better than nothing.
âHey there, Olivia! Feeling better?â She said with a grin when the woman was herself again. âOi! Anyone got a spare coat or shirt or something? Sorry, we didnât have much time to grab you anything on the way over.â
Since everyone else seemed content to be hands off with the recovered Chosen, Sid took charge, helping her up and brushing her off. Something falling caught eye and she caught a flower, eyeing it with surprise before she shrugged and tucked it behind her ear.
Time to get Oliva back to the others and the belongings sheâd dropped when she transformed.

As soon as Mathilda felt the horse shrink, she moved away. She would assume the Chosen would not be wearing clothes when turned back, and she was right.
And when Sidney asked for any article of clothing, Mathilda shrugged and removed her tank. Years of combat had taught her to always wearing a sports bra over her regular bra.
"Here you go, dear. Sorry about the slight mud."
Mathilda crouched and held you the item, noticing a small flower on the ground.
