Well, Shun had good and bad news as far as that went.

"The moonwalkers are supposed to be the enforcers of this world. However, the one who was supposed to train the newest group is currently dead," he stated flatly. This meant there effectly was no real enforcement going on here, outside of self-policing.

"I kind of feel the same. Apparently if you leave the town, your powers will vanish. One could technically escape this hell..."

But that seemed cheap. All he would be doing is run away from a problem. That wasn't something he did. It would solve nothing, not even his personal issues.

Again, his first thought was of Michael Jackson. But he'd heard enough about the werewolves and the people who talked to animals to understand what Shun was getting at. No one had told him about the enforcer part or if the wargs had a special job too, but they'd all been here before. Maybe they'd figure out how to be animal cops on their own.

"I can't go," Rabbit said, not truly parsing the meaning of what had been said before he replied. Before being tithed, he might have jumped at the chance to leave, but now...

He glanced at Oroh's back. She was clearly still listening. Maybe he'd get her a wig and some candy.

"I mean, I could have, when I'd just gotten here, I guess. This seems like something we've got to finish though. Do you think you guys—you and Mercer—could train the... moonwalkers?"

Shun noted that look Rabbit gave his fetch. He wasn't sure if he meant that he actually couldn't physically leave, or he just won't, due to various obligations he may or may not have now. In the case of the latter... he understood that idea fairly well. There was no way Shun would allow himself to just run away after everything he knew. Even if he couldn't really do much about anything as he was now. He really hoped that would change sooner rather than later.

"Agreed... though as far as training the moonwalkers, I suppose that is possible. Unfortunately none of us really know the extent of what they were supposed to do. Or what they are fully capable of when they are on this side of the veil."

He mostly knew that they could shapeshift at will into their animal forms. Some of these forms didn't seem... completely all that helpful for doing any sort of police work. Jamie and his rabbit form came to mind.

He hadn't seen Zootopia.

Maybe if he'd known the first thing about their pack structure of the sorts of outwardly ineffectual animals some of them turned into, Rabbit would have agreed more readily. As it was, he imagined row upon row of werewolves, each brandishing a silver bullet-packed shotgun, blasting at whatever dared to threaten the mundane world. Dismissing power like that just because the ones wielding it weren't as effectively trained as they might have been in an ideal situation seemed... Well, it seemed dumb.

He shrugged. "That's true." Okay, fine. He wasn't too blind to see how easily those shotguns might be turned back on the very moonwalkers who held them around here. "Then I guess we just get stronger? See what comes? Stand back and wait to die?" It might have been morbid if he hadn't been grinning.

It was still a little morbid.

A low grunt escaped him as he shook his head.

"Standing and waiting to die is not really an option. We find a way to move forward," he stated. It was just finding or carving that path forward that was difficult. He wasn't sure where to go. If Shun couldn't figure it out, then he might as well be standing still. The world and its events would not wait for him while he struggled with this.

Oroh huffed, finally turning sharply to face the two men once more.

"Yes. We move forward," she said, arms crossed. "That is a lovely thought. Keep yourselves alive." She was clearly exasperated, but there was a fondness in her voice as well, like a grandparent sending a child off to a war they saw as needless. Only Oroh knew better. She just didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"It was enlightening to meet you, Detective, but if you'll excuse us, we must continue our walk and talk." She waited there where she had returned to Rabbit's side, looking up at Shun and silently waiting for his dismissal. She might have been beholden to no one but her lord, but one of the things she hoped to teach said lord was cordiality. It was good to set an example.

Rabbit had nothing more to offer than a simple shrug. "I guess I'll see you around?" He really had no desire to ever speak to the police back home if he could help it, but on this side it would be better to stick together.
