There's a playful grimace as she commented, "Dang, they'd get all tangled in your pillow and everything!" After a moment, the bird flew up and moved to join them. The moment of caution had, apparently passed for him as well. "It's different, being small," she agreed. The offer had her a little startled and a lot pleased, 'Well my goodness, shouldn't I treat you to dinner first?" A wink followed, and she was grinning broadly now. "That'd be real nice..." The blue jay landed on her shoulder with practice familiarity and she went on to ask, "Say, are the skies here... dangerous? He usually sticks close by and screams his little heart out to scare stuff off, but I don't exactly know what else might be flying about, other than those nasty gossip balloons."

Thorne laughed, a wild sound. "God, yeah, it was absolutely horrible, and there went a shirt. And the next three, because I kept forgetting how to control it while wearing a suit. Do you know how much I've had to expend on new clothing in the past month alone? Too much."
He tilted his head at the bird and smiled. "Well now," he said, "That's impressive though. Does this one have a name?"
At the remark, Thorne laughed and spread his hands and his wings at the same time. They spanned a truly remarkable distance when fully extended, the wind brushing against the galactic inner membrane.
"Now, now," Thorne replied, "Where would the fun be in doing things the right way? Anyways, I don't think dinner is much of an option on this side of the veil. As for danger, I'm not sure." He tilted his head back, looking up at them. "I haven't encountered anything, but I also avoid anything that looks that it might do something nasty to me if I can."

"This is Mr. Bitterberry Jones," America Jones introduced him, and both bird and girl preened as she did. Nodding, she admitted, "Yeah, we've been doing much the same up there. But that anything may also involve like, spooky sounds, stray bits of wind, gross smells, shadows we knew were there but maybe they weren't but maybe we should play it safe." Rocking back on her heels, she went on, "Easier on the ground, cause I'm good at running and I'm good hiding, but up there, well. I grew up with hunters. Once you're in the air, all you can hope for is somebody being a bad shot. Though you-you," America added, "...you ain't no ******** duck, now are you? Do the extras and the court business mean you can zap stuff with magics? Detective Shun said you seemed to have some mucho mojo 'bout you."

"A pleasure to meet you," Thorne said with a straight face to the bird.
To America, he added, "That makes sense. I'm good at hiding, I imagine, until I'm in plain sight. But once you get over the fear of falling, flying becomes relatively easy. I haven't had any hunter try and shoot me down though - perhaps I am just one giant duck waiting to go down. I'd like to think I have a little more dignity than that though." His mouth curved, sharp and cutting, into a laugh. "Magic is possible on this side of the veil, I imagine for all of us, as a matter of will. But the Court has given me more than just wings. And if I veer too closely to a mischievous shadow, they tend to like to swallow me up."
He paused and added, "I have no idea what Shun is talking about, but I'm glad someone around here thinks I'm more than just some floundering fish out of water."

"It doesn't come with a manual anymore than the other stuff here, huh?" America gave him a sympathetic look. "So is the ride thing like, an ultra piggyback? Fireman carry? Princess lift?" Her smile grew broader and broader at each suggestion.

"If only," Thorne responded, a toothy grin spreading across his face before he laughed and shrugged, palms up. "Well now, I'm certainly open to requests," he drawled, mischievous. "I'm a generous host. Or - ride."

Laughing, America suggested, "Maybe we should get one of those like, skydiver rigs? The one's that're like a baby harness but for adults." With that majestic image bestowed upon them both, the girl went on, "But I think a Princess carry would be fancy as ******** if I'm not too heavy. These girl bits aren't light, hun."

"I think we'd get docked points for looking absolutely ridiculous," Thorne retorted, his grin wry and jovial. He fluttered his wings, offering his arms out with a grand display. "Very well. Do you trust me then? I'm sure I can lift you. I'll promise to hold on tight. I'd prefer not to drop you if I can manage that."

"Yeah, there's no point in unless we get to look really cool," America flipped her hair back dramatically, all Mean Girl sass. Her arms wrapping around Thorne's neck was a clear enough answer. "Who knows, hun, maybe if you do drop me it'll be just like swimming after getting thrown in?" Laughing, America didn't add that she'd once nearly drown doing something similar.

"Pray that that's the case then," Thorne drawled in return to America, and grinned toothily at her, all mischief. "Let's have some fun."
With ease, he swept her up, right against his chest, and in the next second they were airborne, the wind snapping at him as he huffed a wild laugh only to be drowned out against the roar and hush and fall of rain. lizbot good to wrap around here if you want? <33
