The discussion of the man's hair made Aaricia smile bashfully. "Mine.. is the same. Where I was born, many have a similar hair color. ..I really like mine." Her hair had always been a point of pride for her. Lately... it wasn't so much.

Only hisses? Oh, like a perzi! Those hissed sometimes. Her gaze lowered further at the question. "Yes.. I am worried," she murmured softly. Steal souls again? She finally looked up thoughtfully. If nothing else... maybe knowing someone rumored to suck out souls would keep her father from him? "Does that threat work often?" she asked with a smile around a wince. Breathing was hurting, so she took his hand.

"So do I." Replied Kieran quietly, "I think it's quite beautiful on you." He offered her a shy smile before holding onto that hand, "Honestly? I haven't tried it myself, but from the rumors I hear it does wonders to keep people from approaching me in the first place." He teased lightly before pulling her arm around his waist, "My apologies, but we can move faster if you lean more on me."

"Don't forget to breathe either - it may hurt, but along with those shallow breaths you should try one deep one on occasion. Else you may get sick from any damp air sticking in your throat." That stated he helped her through the streets and towards where his camp would be outside of the bustling area and slightly away through desert...

Her lips pressed into a tight smile, as though trying to hide the delight she felt at the compliment. Then the playful reply came, and she giggled; though that was cut short with the pain in her side.

She nodded to show her understanding, and tried to even her breathing out. "I don't believe Oba has any damp air," she mused as they headed away.

Her heart began to patter harder as they headed out of the town. If her father found out... but her side hurt too much for her to object.

Ah, so mainlanders even knew how to laugh. His own lips curled upwards into a smile Kieran ended up leading the way through desert before her comment forced an awkward chuckle out of him, "I suppose that is true. I'm still thinking about Yael - we have a lot of damp air on our island." He explained loosely before turning one more corner.

Out here it was mostly sand and a few trees -survivors of the desert that clung towards the edge of the oasis which the town was founded around. His tent was made up in between two such trees and was oddly large compared to others. Years of travel had taught him well in establish a makeshift home and it was that knowledge which led him to patting a fallen log he had rolled over to make a seat with, "I have a bedroll inside if you want to lay down, but it'll be easiest for me to look you over if you stay out here in the light. I have a salve somewhere..." Holding up a finger he went through the tent opening and inside where he rustled through a few things...

Aaricia looked around the camp warily. In pain and on her own, her perspective was shifting regularly between comfort and fear, and even the reasons for the fear fluctuated. She could get in so much trouble... Get this camp in so much trouble... but her side hurt so bad...

Eyes landing on the log, she paused to think a moment before her cheeks flushed bright red. He was planning to put a salve onto her side.. out here? In the open? Ducking her face, she dithered about for a moment before following after Kieran. "I would rather... have it taken care of in here," she said bashfully. In the dim tent, the subtle glow of Kieran's eyes shone even brighter. It was a mystical sight to see, concern and excitement of the unfamiliar sending a chill down her back. "Could you not light a lamp in here? Just until you are finished?"

Kieran chuckled slightly, "If you're worried about others then understandable." The male shuffled through a rather large satchel with many pockets - opening several salves and smelling them lightly before finally settling on a small jar. As he heard her request the Yaeli paused his faded silver eyes glowing faintly, "If that makes you feel more comfortable then I will try my hardest to help you in the faded light. Don't worry my focus is on your ribs and nothing more."

Gesturing towards the bedroll and pillows he took a step back, "If you don't mind...I'm sorry, but it's the only way I can get to your ribs." His own cheeks flushed lightly, "Make yourself comfortable and I'll go get some bandages for you as well."

Aaricia's gaze shifted away as she hugged herself. Kieran was just trying to help. What kind of person let their modesty get in the way of healing? "Perhaps... just a little light then?" she murmured, heading for the bedroll.

As Kieran went on to fetch the needed items, Aaricia bit her lip, cheeks heating sharply. Some of the layers would come off easily enough. She struggled with some of the tighter layers though, trying to remove layers without jostling her side too much. The corset slipping out of place made her gasp sharply. ...She really didn't want to put that back on.

AS quickly as she could, she sat down with her back to the light and held a blanket tightly over her chest. Thankfully, the bruising was flowering fairly lower on her rib cage, making keeping herself covered more reasonable. "O-okay. I'm ready."

Kieran smiled, "Just a little. Trust me, I'll even use more natural lighting." Opening the tent flap just a bit to allow some of the sunlight to flicker towards them the Yaeli nodded. Now that was much better - the last thing he wanted was to do even more damage to her by accident.

The gasp was enough to gain his attention. Worried, Kieran almost spun on his heel before forcing himself to only peer from the corner of his gaze. She was fine...definitely fine - if not more. His own cheeks flushed, the Yaeli went back to his work of sorting herbs. "You are?" He replied quietly before taking a deep breath. This was fine. He was helping a mainlander....anyone seeing someone in need would do the same, right?

"It may sting a little, but this ointment will help to cool your skin." Ever so gingerly Kieran dipped his fingers into the smooth paste before reaching out to touch it against her skin. Biting his bottom lip in concentration the Yaeli forced himself to focus slowly on the bruises beneath his fingers and not on the subtle curves hidden by the blanket...as much as he could at least. "How does it feel?" He asked quietly while dabbing a bit more on, "The first time I used this plant it was a rather strange sensation almost like a cold wind has decided to wrap around you..."

Aaricia chewed on her lower lip as she waited, head turned into the pillow slightly to keep her face turned away. She was much more comfortable with this than if she had gone to the other doctor, but this had her flustered none-the-less.

The cool ointment brought up another short gasp, making her skin prickle with goose bumps and her face twist with a wince. "It does feel cold," she agreed finally, her hands clutching the blanket tightly.

"Forgive me, but it is good for you. It should eventually help soothe the pain and offer your skin a way to stay cool since you can't exactly do that normally in this desert heat." As he rubbed the ointment along her skin, the Yaeli frowned. "So dare I ask what exactly caused a lady like you to have such a bad injury?" His expression was grim as his fingers gently glided over her flesh and massaged the ointment in little swirls. It seemed it was not just the extremists who could be cruel in this world...

The thought made him frown. Was it even safe to let this girl just wander back after helping her? Sighing, Kieran forced the thought aside. It was none of his business...none of his business indeed.

Aaricia tried to keep her breathing even and calm. It was soothing after the initial shock. Quite nice, really. Once she adjusted, tears crept up in her eyes. She loved the cold... She missed it so much... Oba was changing her..

The inevitable question of the source of the injury made her eyes squeeze tight. "I did something wrong, and I was punished," she found herself saying. Surprised with herself, she pulled the blanket up to cover her mouth, revealing more side and her belly with the shift. She shouldn't be saying anything...

As he worked, Kieran hummed softly under his breath. It was calming -hopefully for her as much as it was for himself- to hear a small tune, even if slightly off key, while he continued to apply the ointment. Soon enough he was done with her right side and was moving towards her left when the shift happened. Ah. The Yaeli clicked his tongue in reaction to her confession, "What could you have possibly done wrong to grant such punishment? I'm loathe to believe that, you know."

Once more he dipped his hands into the paste and after rubbing his fingers together started to work towards her left side. Focus on her ribs, her ribs. Ugh, why was this so hard? Kieran's face flushed before he focused again on conversation - something to try and take his mind from the physical aspect of his work, "Sincerely though you do not have to be worried with me. Who is going to talk to a soul stealing monster?" He teased lightly before carefully gingerly applying the ointment to a rather bad bruise - the worst he had yet to see.

Aaricia bit down on the blanket, muffling a cry that covered both pain and fear. After a moment, she shook her head meekly. She could not speak ill of her father. She could not speak ill of the man's associates. "I was rude," she murmured, turning her face toward the pillow again. She couldn't say anything... "I was out of line.."

"And who decides that?" Kieran protested before raising his hands from the girl's skin, "Still, I do not agree with anyone hitting you - just know that." He shook his head before closing the jar, "As it is let me wrap you up now...so you'll have to sit straight that way I don't tighten the bandages too tightly, okay?"

Aaricia's brow knit. She certainly didn't get to decide anything. She glanced back at Kieran hesitantly. If only she could speak freely... "Thank you," she murmured instead.

The mention of sitting up for bandages made her flush though. "Okay..." Holding the blanket firmly to herself with on hand, she carefully pushed herself up into a sitting position. The blanket... While her one arm continued pinning the blanket to her chest, the other lifted the bottom of the blanket away from her front and also held her braid up out of the way.
