Despite everything, it was almost worse not seeing. Intellectually, she knew mice relied on their sense of smell and hearing over sight, but she was still a human in her mind and they relied on visuals. So while she could hear the growl of an attacking predator, she shook from within her hiding spot, lack of knowledge driving her mad. So she poked her head out from Sylvia's shirt.
Upon seeing the large tiger pouncing, she almost quailed until she saw that it was attacking the feline Misha. With a tiny squeak she sprang from her place in Sylvia's shirt and scurried down her frame. It took her longer than she wanted to get to the tiger but she hunched herself down and threw herself and the flicking tail, hoping she had timed it right.
She chomped down on the fuzzy end of Briiva's tail, the thrill of victory overriding the realization that now she had to hang on.

Misha’s rumble seemed to have the opposite effect of what she’d wanted, a growl erupting from nearby as Briiva revealed herself. Lex moved quicker than she could, and Brian’s arrow directed Sylvia before his warning did. She hesitated for a moment, a little intimidated by the fact that they were about to fight a tiger – but there was no time to worry about it. Sylvia lifted her shield to move, but felt Beth shift against her chest first, and was distracted as the tiny mouse scurried down to the ground and made a jump for the tiger’s tail.
“Beth! Oh, geeze.” A sick feeling swelled in her chest as she worried for the tiny mouse, though she was also impressed with Beth’s gusto. She would have to trust that Beth would be fine, and find her again (or one of them) if she needed shelter. For the moment, however, she didn’t feel comfortable body-slamming the tiger with her shield while Misha was at her mercy and Beth was on her tail. Sylvia chose to hang back for the moment, though she kept her shield ready for an opening.
Character Name:Sylvia Owens Brief description of character: Sweet, optimistic, always trying to be helpful – even if it means bluntly telling you how stupid you’re being. Remains tentative about her new life as a Chosen, having never been a fighter…
The shock of Briiva's attack left Misha reeling and she screeched in alarm, a high-pitched cry of distress. The fact that her friends came immediately to her aid helped only so much, barely registering; she was too busy trying to avoid slashing claws and sharp teeth. With the combined effort of her own acrobatics and the attacks of the others, Misha finally managed to wrench herself away. Then, without thinking, she spun and lashed out with her own claws.
The moment her paw landed, hard and decisive, reason returned and Misha felt her stomach drop. Quickly, she moved away from Briiva and out of range. She looked back with wide golden eyes, hoping that she hadn't done too much damage.

Briiva wheeled about as she was attacked all at once. Her shrugged off most of the attacks with the sheer bulk of her body, her growls more annoyed that they were making lunch a more annoying affair than they had right to make it. The bite to the tail, however, that couldn't be ignored. Those thing were sensitive, after all. With a quick upwards flick of her tail, Briiva flung Beth into the air, summarily leaping up and closing her mouth down around the tiny ball of fur. What she hadn't expected though, was just how cold tiny mouse paws were. No sooner had Briiva landed on her paws, she reflexively spat Beth back out, towards the group of Chosen. It was an experience she wouldn't be eager to re-enact, ever.
Briiva growled softly, keeping her distance from the group as she paced back and forth, teeth bared as she decided on her next target. The cat had seemed rather resilient, and was keeping her distance. The human who had punched her was fairly close though, and she was hungry. Maybe he wouldn't put up as much of a fight. With a roar, she lunged again, powerful claws sinking into whatever part of him she could get as Briiva attempted to bring Lex down.
Now the tiger had turned its attention on Lex, and it was difficult for Brian to keep in mind that this was one of his fellow Chosen. Rafe had been big and dangerous too, but he hadn't been ferocious! Briiva seemed sure to take them all out.
Ranged weapons weren't so helpful at this range, though, so he whipped out an arrow and, instead of nocking it, whacked the tiger across the rump with it. Maybe he's distract it? God, he really didn't want to get mauled by a tiger, though.

Lex shifted back and froze, did Beth just bite the Tiger's tail? He shifted and grunted, falling down and bent backwards, nearly touching the ground in an attempt to invade the claws.
He wasn't fast enough and the claws raked down shallowly but at least they evaded some of it.

To say that Beth was shocked by being thrown in the air, almost swallowed, and spit back out again was an understatement. Her entire body was wet and gross and she had escaped death by a whisker's breath. She huddled on the ground, squeaking quietly in distress. Then she started grooming. It was habit! And she was in no rush to tangle with the tiger again. She was barely 3 inches long. What had she been thinking?

This fight seemed much more intense right off the bat than most of the others Sylvia had been involved in. Misha was clearly in distress, even if she did manage to get in a good swipe in return, and a fist tightened in Sylvia’s stomach. It was made so much worse when Briiva flicked Beth into the air and nearly ate her. The fist was swallowed by a bottomless pit as Sylvia screamed, “No!” She couldn’t thank the gods enough when Briiva spit Beth out.
Sylvia was entirely torn as to how to proceed – she wanted so badly to help Beth, but she wanted to take down Briiva first to prevent any more close calls. She decided to deal with one first, and then the other. Trying to brace herself on the shield, she said a silent prayer for some decent aim and then rushed forward. She felt herself hit the tiger’s side, then slide off her flank, continuing her run to the other side of the clearing before she turned around and waited. She wanted to get back to Beth, but there was a tiger in the way now, sure to be at least a little pissed. Hopefully Beth would find a safe place out of the way.

As much as she liked Briiva - and she really did like Briiva a lot - Misha could not bite back the growling hiss and the anger that rose in response to seeing Briiva nearly eat Beth and then unceremoniously spit her out and away. She knew how scary it was to change, to lose your mind and have to crawl back to humanity, but this was pushing things too far, she felt. She did not remember trying to eat anyone when she was out of her mind and running away!
Rushing forward to slam her smaller body into the hefty weight of the tiger, Misha then spun to deliver a hard, claws-retracted blow to Briiva's nose. Bad kitty, no treats! Mentally, she was pleading for her friend to come back to her senses and return to camp with them. The blow landed and, while part of her was triumphant, a quickly sobering part felt heartsick now.

Briiva fell with Lex, doing her best to use most of her weight to pin down the chosen while she continued to try raking him with her claws, snapping at his face the few times she got close to it for full measure.
The other chosen seemed to be slowly wearing her down, Briiva growling and slashing out occasionally at her other assailants, but none managed to fully pry her attention to the (hopefully) tasty human she had underneath her. If anything, the more hurt she looked, the more ferociously she attempted to get her mouth around Lex's neck.
For Briiva, there was still little recognition that these Chosen were anything but prey. Annoying prey, but animals to be hunted nonetheless. Each surge of pain simply refined her focus on the squirming human under her paws, and she was intent on attacking until it stopped squirming and she could move on to the next. The world around her was red.
Something about Briiva pouncing Lex in the way she did caused a heightened spark of adrenaline in Brian. He'd likely have done the same for anyone (really, he'd rather not witness any murders or have to see anyone deal with the consequences after turning back) but Lex was a new friend and damned if he was going to be gutted. He fired a blunted arrow, striking Briiva straight-on. It left a pock-mark or pink flesh, but he barely noticed.

Lex breathed slowly, digging out a tiny bit of calm and rationalism of don’t ******** panic that a tiger is trying to eat you. It was hard, because hot breath on his skin and drool and sharp snapping teeth barely blocked by his arms.
He attempted to get his leg up to push her off and struggled to get it in position and leverage to push the large beast off of him.
Breath, breath, don’t panic at the very large cat on top of you and hope someone managed to get her off soon. Those claws hurt.

Beth was finally finished cleaning herself just in time to see Briiva pounce on Lex and bring him to the ground. She gave a little mousie wail before being distraught became being angry. Briiva was their friend! How could she do this? Remembering her little smirk and her infuriatingly reckless neglect in properly labeling her flasks, Beth scurried over and made a pounce of her own, right on the tiger's face. Then, with as much ferocity as she could muster, she bit and scratched at Briiva's muzzle and eyes.
If she had been a girl, she might have been appalled by her own savage behavior. But Lex had the full weight of a tiger on him and there was nothing to stop said tiger from ripping his throat out with her fangs or gutting him with her sharp back claws. Nothing, except an extremely overprotective little dormouse.

Briiva was taken aback by the savage attack that came from the mouse that she had tried to eat just minutes before, the arrow leaving a stinging sensation on her leg as well. The culmination of the wounds slowly wore at her, and suddenly she felt herself get, well, sleepy. The bloodthirsty need to hunt slowly faded from an overpowering current to a trickling brook in the back of her mind.
Everything seemed fuzzy, both from Briiva slowly coming down from her adrenaline rush and from just how sore she suddenly felt. With the new clarity of mind, came the realization that the humans around her were, in fact, chosen. With that realization, whatever fight she had left and she looked at the group with eyes, now filled with curiosity rather than hunger. She could smell the faint scents of Misha and Beth, another cat and a mouse, respectively. The others were not as familiar to her and her ear flicked as she took in the new faces.
Lex was the last one that Briiva noticed, suddenly aware of something soft and somewhat squishy under her, flailing to free himself. Giving the chosen an apologetic lick up his cheek, she gingerly padded off of him, bumping her head against Misha's softly, then Beth's. After that she simply sprawled on her back, paws in the air as she caught her breath and let the sound of her blood rushing through her ears disappear into the background once more.
Briiva wasn’t letting up, and Sylvia was terrified for Lex. The huge weight of a tiger on such a slight person was just about as intense as the tiger tossing up a mouse into her mouth. And for all his might, Lex was not strong enough or in a good enough position to get any leverage to free himself. Thank goodness they all seemed to make a wonderful team – and were all connected enough that they seemed especially protective. Misha put her weight into an attack, Brian practiced his wicked good aim, and Beth surprised her with an attack to Briiva’s face – which seemed to startle Briiva out of her fierceness before Sylvia could even contribute again.
She was actually rather cute once she stopped, looking around with big, curious eyes. The link along Lex’s face was… well, very sweet, even if it might be horrifying for the man she was about to eat a few moments ago. Her tired flop on the ground was also cute. Sylvia was amazed at how cute a tiger that had previously been vicious was quickly turning her chest from stone to some sort of sweet cream.
Still, Sylvia was cautious, and as much as she wanted to introduce herself to the tiger, there were more pressing matters. She slowly approached Lex instead, kneeling beside him and placing a cautious hand on his shoulder. “Are you alright?” She quickly scanned over him, wanting to assess any damage. She also looked over at Misha and Beth, “And you two, are you okay?” Though she wanted to seem calm, concern laced her words and knit her brows.
