Nothing she said was ever going to please this man. There really wasn't much use trying, and most days Dris'rynne wondered why she even bothered sticking around to hear him talk. Like now, for instance. Logic would dictate that she should simply turn around and walk away, but it would also say that he was just as likely to follow behind her like the leech he was. "If it will help your poor, tormented mind know that I do plan on looking into more stable housing." She had no real desire to take her child into that place; honestly, she barely wanted to go most days, but the water was warm, and sometimes a quick dip was all you needed to feel real again. Still...under her breath she grumbled, "Honestly...hooker in a room of convicts..." Where did he get these images from?
"Most know who I am, Tes. There are more shifters here every day, but I'm still part of the Oban minority." Especially since she lacked an eye, was rather small and tended to walk around with a hoard of scarred, gnarly warriors. There was no real stealth in all of that.
"I only plan on renting; I'll never buy a home here. Someday I'll own a house of my own and it will be in Jauhar, no place else." Anything less would feel somewhat wrong, and more like a betrayal to all she held dear than anything else. And while he did have a point, Dris'rynne did have some time before the baby came, she didn't like to dilly dally. She wanted to have as much lined out before the later months as possible; something that this man didn't seem to comprehend.

Alright, alright, yes, maybe he was being just a touch dramatic, but sharing bath water with strangers really did just sound like the most unsavory past time. There was just no telling what the public did in those waters, all shrouded in warm mist and amidst others also doing questionable things and- And besides, babies didn't need to be in that warm water, anyway. "Dear precious, Moonflower, if I'm offended, it's only for your sake," Tes hummed, cocking his hip to the side and flicking away at his bangs. "Really, you should be quite honored that I care so much."
He snorted under his breath in amusement. "And while you are a rather noticeable woman- and I mean that in the best possible way, of course- I'd hardly say you were notorious for much of anything." He shrugged and tipped his head skyward. "There are a lot of people in this town. To many to know the story of any random Shifter girl. Maybe they know your face, but I'd wager they know little else."
Not that any of that mattered too much, it seemed like. Teslaron didn't dislike Oba, even if the vast majority of people here were displeasing. And it was exciting enough in the city with enough to do that he could hardly imagine living anywhere else...
"Sooo..." He shifted, rolled his shoulders, dug his hands into his pockets and tried to look as nonchalant as could be managed. "You don't plan on staying, then? I suppose I thought since you had a job and were talking of raising children and looking for a nanny that you'd be interested in something permanent, but..."

"Mm'hmm, yeah," Dris'rynne drawled. She was so honored that the benevolent Teslaron cared about the welfare of her child. How grand. The shifter passed him a droll stare before shaking her head. There really just was no living with him. Honestly, she hoped that girl who drug him home had others to talk to otherwise she might end up just like him, which would be a worry.
"I don't plan on putting down roots here, no. I'll stay until the baby is old enough to travel, and then I'm leaving." At least, that was the plan. Originally she hadn't even planned on staying more than a few weeks, and yet, here she was. Dris'rynne only hoped that she could stick to her guns this time.
"A few years, tops. I'll either ask the nanny to come with me then, or look for a new one once I'm settled."

Oh. Tes swallowed. It didn't matter one way or the other, really it didn't, but still. How could someone call just casually living in one location for years not setting down roots? How could you not feel an attraction to one place after that long? No, maybe it wasn't home, but...
Especially with a kid. If she was going to have him here for years, it would be all he knew, just deserts and sun and Fire folk.
"Well, that sounds..." He didn't like it, and it took but a short second between his own personal realization to that affect, and for the expression of it to show on his face. He frowned (something close to a grimace, really) and snorted. "Well, you'll do what you want and what's best for you, I'm sure, but just- Hm, if it ever crosses your mind to think about people that might've come to like you during your stay, you can lemme know about it when it happens."

Oh, she hadn't expected him to like it. He looked as if the idea tasted much like a piece of sour meat that had been left to rot for a few days. At least he had grace enough not to outright judge her for it, even if he surely was thinking some choice thoughts.
"Sure, Tes, I'll let you know." She wouldn't go looking for him; Dris'rynne knew they would inevitably just bump into each other again. The shifter was ready to walk away when something about what he said made her give him an oddly coy little grin. "Did you just say you liked me?"

So that... was just how it was then, hm? It obviously wasn't anything personal, since it seemed like Dris didn't really get along with anyone in Oba. He'd never seen her hanging around with people, and apparently the 'for once' time that she did, she scared the guy out of the country. So, he shouldn't be offended. He was, but he shouldn't be. As far as his own mood went, the whole conversation had fluctuated rapidly between varying degrees of upset, so this was probably as good a place as any to let the subject die.
He stuffed his hands in his pockets, the mission of the day long forgotten and turned his back to her. Hardly a second after, he heard her words and glanced back over his shoulder to see her grinning at him.
Teslaron rolled his eyes. "Tchh, c'mon, Sky Princess, is that what it sounded like I said, huh? No, no, you need to listen more aptly than that." He tapped her nose with his finger. "I said some people might have. Not necessarily me, though my wondrous and whimsical ways do lend themselves to appearing like I like a lot of things... No, silly girl." He shrugged, grinned, and ran his finger from the tip of her nose down to brush over her lips. "You run along now. Off to finish your chores."
