Naqenni’s eyebrows rose, cocking up at the revelation, and her attention flit from Ai, to the ‘family’ image she gestured to.
“Mm.” It wasn’t an unheard of tale. The divide amongst extremists and the traitors had been sharp—sisters splitting against sisters on many levels. Some family units had of course been in agreement, but Ai was certainly not alone in having close ties who failed to draw the right loyalties when the time came. Amongst their camp, it was impossible not to hear stories.
But, Ai had never shared before, and Naqenni hummed. “You won’t be alone.”

"Well, whatever the case may be, the longer we stay here the most likely this place is to be found." If she were by herself she could hide much easier, and while she was sure at this point that Naqenni wouldn't get them caught on purpose she couldn't be sure the other hadn't been followed.
She moved around the small space, putting up paints and cleansing her brushes as quickly as she could while still being efficient. Once everything was in it's proper place she scrubbed herself as best she could with a damp cloth before flinging it into the darkness of the cave.
"We will not walk back together. You will take a separate path and we will leave at separate times, do you understand? No one is to know."

Naqenni watched as Ai began to clean and set away, though her brow lifted at the words.
We will not walk back together.
Clearly, Ai was even more serious about her secrecy than Naq thought. It seemed to her, since she did not think she had been followed this time, there was little additional risk now that she was here—or in taking the same route out, so long as they did not enter camp together babbling about it. But, evidently it was what the woman wanted, and Naq did not suppose she minded enough to argue.
So, she shrugged. “I’ll take that as my cue, then?” She glanced once more across the display, gaze trailing from start to finish before she stepped towards the cave opening. “It was good to see.”

Just because she had allowed one set of eyes into her haven didn't mean she was ready to allow more in. This place was still very precious to her, and at least for the foreseeable future, Ai wanted to keep it safe.
And because of that she waited, looking at Naqenni suspiciously as if waiting for the elaria to argue. When she didn't, Ai nodded and took the lead. She was...nervous about leaving first, but someone had to make the first move.
"You can come back, just....don't touch anything." Ai waited a moment before turning and walking off into the woods.

Naqenni expected to head out first, assuming that Ai would simply prefer it and not trust her alone in the space. When the older woman moved past her, however, she blinked, and then grunted, watching the retreat in silence. Left to her own devices in the space, it was even more odd than before. As if, without Ai even present she was more of an invader given its privacy.
Since Ai had insisted on separate departure times, however, she let herself linger until well after her cousin had disappeared long from sight and only the sounds of the surrounding jungle accompanied her. When she did leave, the stretches of painted cave were still fresh and vivid on her mind.
She wondered, as she neared back in on Zinris, how long it would be before she did see Chibale herself, and how it would compare to the stories told of it.
