The detective waited semi-patiently for the girl to come on back to continue moving furniture. Once she did get back, he crouched down and made sure he had a firm hold on his end, physically and mentally. "The other incident is more recent, and a lot more s**t happened. To prelude, a handful of people had been taken several months ago, forced into servitude of those who a part of the Court of the Sorrowful One. They were replaced by doppelgangers known was fetches. About a week before the full moon in August, an invitation had been sent out. We were invited to a masquerade, held by this Court. The purpose of the ball was for a tithe; someone was to die at the end of the night to strengthen the cage of the enemy. Those who lacked masks were those available to be sacrificed. Each of those who were taken were unmasked that night."Grunting, he went on to lift up his end.

The remaining mirth dried up quickly. It takes a moment as she lifts with her body and her power, adjusting both until she can finally get out an incredulous, angry hiss of, " Jesus wept. They kidnapped folks, made them ********' slaves, then throw a fancy party to kill one off?" A flush began to rise on the girl's cheeks that had nothing to do with heavy furniture.

Shun shook his head, taking in a deep breath as he focused on making sure they got the cabinet in place first. "That said, they were not the prime targets. Political power plays were at hand. Among other things. Adoelle, the final of the three teens, was a part of the court. She wished to be the sacrifice of the night, so that the cage can be weakened instead of strengthened. Melany, the Spinel Lady, wanted to off the Sorrowful One, whom she had ripped her tongue out and had all but stolen the court from. Supposedly Melany, herself, was someone the council wanted to get rid of due to being a 'heinous b***h'."A sentiment that he agreed with wholeheartedly.

America was silent as they moved the large cabinet. "Did they get away with it?" There was a shake in her voice as she asked.

Shun shook his head. "Before the council was to meet, a number of us gathered. One of us going to be a part of the council and we had to discuss who we were going to try and set up. It was agreed that we try to allow Adoelle go through with her plan. In the end, she was the one who was slain. Two men unmasked themselves afterwards. I think one of them is the enemy..."Unfortunately, unlike others, he had no ******** clue who those people were. "One of the fetches stabbed Melany after that, so she could have died as well," he started. His tone darkened, and his eyes narrowed, "Unfortunately some people saw fit that she should be saved, despite the s**t she had pulled. I was unable to stop them."Shaking his head, he shifted the cabinet carefully once it was set down, then started to head on towards the truck once more. "The good news is the ones who were taken were able to go home after that. Some of their doubles were even killed from what I know," he stated, "However, at least one of them is a part of the Court now. I suspect the others may be the same. The whole kidnapping process apparently is some sort of ******** up initiation."

"That's not..." She began, voice loudly alarmed before lowering it to try again. "That's not what I meant. Is killing the only consequence we've got for them? Nothing else to keep this...court or whatever, in check? Christ, she hissed. "Who or what are they even? It's the first sign of some kinda order over there and it's..." The girl's features twisted unhappily, and she took a moment to sit on the truck's ledge and take it in. It was disappointing in a profound way she couldn't quite get a handle on.

"Well it is not like Jeremiah and I can arrest them. We have no authority over there."Shun went ahead and leaned against the side of the truck's wall. "The Burning man, the eldritch gentleman, the sinister survivor, the spinel lady... The Red lady," he murmured, "And now the five who had been taken. I have only seen Thorne since the whole ordeal. He is more powerful now. Different. The other nobles were probably human at some point in time."He looked off into the distance. "I do not have much more information about it. There is the nobility, and somehow the moonwalkers are tied to them. Though I am uncertain how, exactly."

"Nobles...of course." Not just the first sign of order, but very possibly the order. With an unhappy sigh, she asked, "The same red lady from the library?" And if they were tied to moonwalkers, dud they mean they were responsible for that Michael fellow being in the wrong world? That they lady they had trusted in the end had been the one who caused the trouble, the deaths in the first place. America's hands clenched around the edge of the truck bed hard enough to hurt. "All along I was worried most about things creeping here, things happening here."

"...yes and no. She also had double. The real one had been in Other Ashdown for... awhile. I think she got out with the rest,"Shun folded his arms over his chest. "We have to worry about what goes on over there as well. The magic is strong over there. There is so much more room to ******** things over."

America sighed and went quiet, even as she stood up to get back to work. Eventually, seemingly out of the blue, she stated, "I can tell which doors will take a person there and back. Do you think doing regular check-ins...patrols of some sort, might help keep things less... kidnap-y."

Shun slowly shook his head. "Doubt it. The fetches... their dopplegangers were living as them during the time they were captive. No one suspected anything. Granted... we have the knowledge that it is possible now so maybe we can figure it out but... I have a feeling it will not be so easy."He tapped his fingers against his arms. "Made more difficult by the fact that the doubles seemed to have acquired the memories of the original."

The last big piece of furniture was a massive old clawfoot tub. Beautiful, well cared for, incredibly heavy for something that houses generally already have."Memories too? Christ." She frowned deeply at the idea. Like someone could just... take what was hers, something so personal and treasured. Eyeing the tub and then Shun to best figure out the carry, she added absently, "Might as well not try to figure it out if you don't know how, just end up driving yourself crazy. Next time I'm over There, I'll try asking some of the locals. The nice ones."

Letting out a sigh, Shun made his way over the the tub. It looked heavy, and incredibly unwieldy to be carrying. Looking it over, he gripped onto the edges of the tub and tested how well he could hold it there. It may do. Closing his eyes, he drew in a bit of focus to try and lighten the load some, once America was ready as well. "Good luck getting a straight answer out of them."

It took a bit of adjusting and feeling out with power, but eventually they both had a steady lift on the tub, enough to move it safely down. "Worth trying. And I think I'll probably try being there on the regular anyway. Even if it doesn't keep s**t from happening, I hate just... waiting for bad things." Going out and searching for bad things was, in all honesty, a bit of a lifestyle for her.

It was starting to feel a little straining, in an odd way. He hadn't really done heavy lifting with his mind before. Not quite like this, anyway. Shun still kept concentration to get the tub where it needed to be so that they can safely set it down in the warehouse. "True... better to try and be preventative. We have plenty of bad s**t coming for certain. Right now, I am most wary of Halloween. The myths about this world and the underworld having a thinner separation for that time of year may have some stock to them. Hopefully not, but it certainly is a possibility."
